My NFL Fantasy Team for the 2008-09 NFL Football Season (Well, I’m hoping to draft them anyway…)
Hopefully, this’ll improve my fantasy ranking. Hee hee…
You read it, the 2008-09 NFL football season is here and that means it’s time to build your fantasy teams that’ll probably earn you the right to talk smack all week long, provided you won your fantasy match-ups over the weekend of course.
So, who you gonna’ choose? Here’s my own version of a dream NFL fantasy team and if you were fortunate enough to draft these guys under one roster, it’s either you’re one lucky guy or you’re the league commissioner. (Wink! Wink!)
Let’s start off with the QB
position. There are a lot of great quarterbacks in the game right now but if you’re looking for solid fantasy points on a consistent basis, Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning is your man.
Sure, he may not have 30+ fantasy point games like Tom Brady or Drew Brees can have from time to time but you can be rest assured that you’ll have solid production from this guy every single week.
Manning holds NFL records for consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing and the most total seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing in a career. Manning is also second on the list for highest career passer rating, THAT means, he’s more likely to come up with a touchdown than suffer an injured foot. (Hmm…)
For the WR positions, we have New England Patriots wideout Randy Moss and Torry Holt of the St. Louis Rams.
Randy Moss holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record (23, set in 2007) and the NFL single-season TD reception record for a rookie (17, in 1998). Moss is the only player in NFL history to record 1,200+ receiving yards in his first six seasons. He is also the youngest player in NFL history to record his 120th receiving touchdown (30 years, 313 days). Trust me, you can’t go wrong with this dude.
Torry Holt, on the other hand, has the same number of consecutive seasons (6) with at least 1,300 yards receiving and consecutive seasons with 90+ receptions. Sure, father time will catch this guy sooner or later but if you’re looking for a solid pick in the second or third rounds, picking this guy up is the right way to go.
For the HB position, none is better than San Diego Chargers runningback LaDainian Tomlinson.
He has been a fantasy god for quite some time now and although Adrian Peterson has become the hottest commodity in fantasy leagues this season, LT still holds the no.1 fantasy ranking overall. Why? Just watch the guy play and you’ll find out soon enough.
Jeez, the guy set several records during the 2006 NFL season by scoring a league-leading 186 points. He received additional honors by winning the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award and the Associated Press’ Offensive Player of the Year award to boot.
And although he was more subtle last season compared to his MVP year, his overall performance was still one of the best in the league.

New England Patriots 4.50
