New York Giants beat Dallas Cowboys to play the Green Bay Packers in the 2008 NFC Championship Game
It’s a Manning again in the conference championship! And good God almighty it’s motherfuckin’ Eli!
Yep, Eli Manning, Super Bowl XLI MVP Peyton’s younger and inexperienced brother, just made another GIANT (pun intended) step in the 2008 NFL football playoffs. That’s beating the No.1 seeded team in the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys, at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas.
Wow. It certainly looks like this postseason’s ”road warriors” if you will, and that’s the New York Giants of course, are definitely making their campaign in this year’s playoffs worth your while eh?
After Eli Manning led the Giants to
upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa to start New York’s postseason bid for the Super Bowl title, those guys actually beat the No.1 team in their conference, beating the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 after yet another struggle from Cowboys star Tony Romo at crunchtime.
The last time the Romo-led Dallas Cowboys got in the playoffs, they lost to the Seattle Seahawks after Romo botched what would’ve been a game-winning field goal. THIS TIME though, Romo just kept getting his ass hurried and sacked in Dallas’ potential game-winning drives, failing to score TWICE in the final minutes of the game.
When Tony Romo got his pass intercepted by the New York Giants defense in the endzone, it was all over. Dallas’ Romomentum won’t be going past the divisional round for the second straight year.
”It hurts,” Tony Romo said, who was 18-of-36 for 201 yards with a touchdown. ”I’m very disappointed and frustrated. It’s tough right now.”
Of course Romo has to be frustrated. Jeez… The Cowboys just wasted a 13-3 season, matching their best stand in the history of the franchise. With the loss to the visiting New York Giants, the Cowboys became only the first No.1 seeded NFC team in NFL history to lose in the divisional round since the league went to the 12-team playoff format back in 1990.
These Cowboys also became the 7th team to lose to a club they have beaten TWICE in the regular season.
Meanwhile, the New York Giants move on to the NFC conference championship to play the red hot Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Of course, it would be unwise to bet on the Giants since they have no business beating the Packers at Lambeau. But then again, they had no business beating the Cowboys in Dallas either.
