NEWS FLASH!!! LeBron James goes to New York!
Easy, easy. LeBron James will go to New York to play the Knicks and not play FOR them… YET.
After all the deals the Knicks pulled this early into the 2008-09 NBA basketball season to clear up some salary cap space, it is safe to assume that they are going after the biggest free agent to hit the market in the history of the NBA. NO, it ain’t you but LeBron James.
You see, the New York Knicks traded away their top two scorers, Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph to cut some money they spend on payroll since these two were the ones eating up a lot of cap space the most in New York. Crawford was sent to the Golden State Warriors while Randolph was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Now that they have enough money
to burn, they can start going after LeBron James when he becomes a free agent in 2010. James is one of the four big free agents hitting the market next season with Cris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and Dwyane Wade also looking for huge contracts at the end of this campaign.
New York fans will have a taste of LeBron James this Tuesday when he leads his Cleveland Cavaliers to Madison Square Garden to play the Knicks. And although they already know James will make their beloved Knicks look bad on Tuesday night, I have a gut feeling that these Knicks fans will take it in the ass smiling.
After all, they’re probably used to losing by now right?
Heck, basketball fans from the Big Apple might even root for LeBron instead of the Knicks. If that’s the case then I guess you can’t really blame those guys at all since watching the Knicks the last few years have been painful, to say the least. Still, one Knick thinks otherwise, for some reason.
‘’We’ll see,'’ Quentin Richardson said. ‘’Knick fans are Knick fans. They’re gonna root for the Knicks. But that’s what makes entertainment and that’s what it is. I’m sure it will be a circus.'’
And while that may be true, Quentin forgot one thing. It’s going to be another loss for the struggling Knicks, a lopsided one.
