North Carolina Tar Heels v Duke Blue Devils Wednesday

Yes people, it’s a rivalry game.

After witnessing probably the BIGGEST tragedy in all of sports at the Super Bowl last Sunday, life in the sporting world moves on and what’s better than having another classic UNC - Duke rivalry game in the 2008 NCAA college basketball season to get us going again?

You read it people, the North Carolina Tar Heels will be locking horns with arch-rivals Duke Blue Devils as the college hoops season marches on towards March Madness.

The Duke Blue Devils are undefeated at 7-0 in conference play coming to this rivalry gameNorth Carolina Tar Heels vs Duke Blue Devils in Chapel Hill while the North Carolina Tar Heels are at 6-1. Both Duke and UNC sit 1-2 respectively in the ACC and just recently, jumped in poll just in time for their grudge match this Wednesday.

With the Memphis Tigers still keeping their overall undefeated streak alive at a commanding 21-0 overall, the Duke Blue Devils (19-1 overall) jumped in behind them at No.2 after climbing up the ladder from their 11th preseason ranking to 10th, 8th, 7th to 5th, to 3rd and finally to 2nd all in a span of six weeks.

The North Carolina Tar Heels, on the other hand, are 21-1 overall and just because they suffered their first loss of the season in conference play, they sit behind the ACC conference leaders Duke at No.3 in the overall poll rankings.

However, sitting behind Duke in the rankings this season is the last thing the Tar Heels should worry about when they play their rivals this Wednesday.

North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams is pessimistic about the status of his point guard, Ty Lawson, for their rivalry game against Duke. The explosive second year Tar Heel didn’t return after spraining his left ankle early in the first half of their 84-73 overtime win over the Florida State Seminoles.

Coach Roy Williams said, ‘’We won’t have any idea if he will play, or how much he will play, until after practice, if he can practice.'’

Sounds like all ya’ll should put money on Duke eh? Oh by the way, legendary college hoops color commentator Dick Vitale returns to the ESPN booth for this Wednesday’s rivalry game. That is if you still care about the dumb fuckaroo anyway.
