Plaxico Burress arrested for shooting himself with a gun

Jeez… How stupid can a man get?

Burress, during the first few weeks of the 2008-09 NFL football season, was the Giants’ no.1 option after coming up with the game-winning touchdown last February to win Super Bowl XLII for New York City.

After all that, you would’ve assume Plaxico Burress will be at the top of his game, leading his New York Giants to another Super Bowl run. But after getting his ass suspended for missing practice a few weeks ago followed by sub par performances the weeks after, Burress may have done the worst thing a man can do to force the Giants organization to banish him from New York.

For all ya’ll who didn’t know, Plaxico Burress was Plaxico Burressarrested last Monday after shooting himself Friday night in the right thigh at a Manhattan nightclub. He was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

The troubled Giants wide receiver is scheduled to return to court on March 31, in which defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman believing that Burress has 35 million reasons to do just that, referring to the whopping $35 million contract Burress has with the Giants organization.

A witness reported hearing a popping sound before Burress’ legs began to shake, according to a criminal complaint. It said the person saw a bloody pistol fall out of his pant leg and land on the floor before Burress said ‘’Take me to a hospital.'’ A grand jury will hear evidence and make a decision on whether Burress will be indicted. Illegal possession of a firearm carries a sentence of 3½ to 15 years in jail.

The hospital Burress went to after shooting himself, tried to conceal the incident from the authorities, probably figuring out that their Giants’ chances of another Super Bowl run will be in peril once the police finds out that their no.1 wide receiver tends to fire prematurely.

The New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center failed to report the gunshot as required by law after hospital personnel recognized Burress despite checking in under a fake name, Harris Smith.

This probably means Plaxico’s season is over, good thing Kevin Boss is slowly learning how to handle Eli’s balls.
