Real Madrid giving up on Cristiano Ronaldo transfer?

Of course, if you believe that, then you’re a jackass.

With the brand new 2008-09 Spanish Primera Liga still a few more months away, Real Madrid looked very eager to land the biggest acquisition to hit the team since they signed David Beckham away from Manchester United.

Real Madrid have their eyes on another player from Manchester United and this time, it’s Portugese phenom Cristiano Ronaldo. But wait, now Real Madrid is saying Ronaldo will opt to stay with Man-U. Hmm… Have they given up on it this easily already?

Cristiano Ronaldo‘’At the moment, that’s (Ronaldo staying) the most likely scenario. They (United) don’t want to sell so we can’t do anything,'’ Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said.

‘’He must love Manchester. Once Manchester decide they want to sell and they tell us this, then we will say that we’re talking about a transfer. But today that’s not happening and therefore this is a situation that may end up as it is now, as nothing, and Cristiano Ronaldo will continue at Manchester next year.'’

For all you Man-U fans, there’s no reason to celebrate just yet. August 31 is the transfer deadline and anything can STILL happen.

‘’Theoretically there’s still time (for things to change),'’ Calderon continued. ‘’There are two months left until the end of August if Manchester get in touch with Real Madrid and make us an offer.'’

‘’But still we don’t know if it would be possible to buy him even if they did want to sell.'’

The Real Madrid president also said that they would be doing Manchester United a big favor if they sign Cristiano Ronaldo. He claims having a transfer of this magnitude will serve Manchester United good.

Of course, if you believe THAT, you’re a bigger jackass.
