Redemption for the NY Giants at Super Bowl XLII?
Yes, REDEMPTION. That word has been overly overused (overly overused?) the past week when talking about them Giants.
And just in case you have no idea why people have been clamoring for Super Bowl XLII tickets the past few days, the New York Giants will be taking on the 18-0 New England Patriots in Glendale, Arizona for the biggest prize in all of American sports. That is of course, the Super Bowl.
And yeah, REDEMPTION has been the keyword, if you will, when talking about the New York Giants and their chances of coming up with a shocking upset victory over the still perfect New England Patriots this Sunday.
First, obviously, it could be redemption for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Much has been said about his father Archie Manning, during his illustrious career with the New Orleans Saints in the past. Of course, much has been said about his older brother, Peyton Manning too during his run with the Indianapolis Colts in this era.
Eli Manning, on the other hand, has failed to live up to the ‘’Manning'’ name the last couple of seasons, losing time and time again and giving up fumbles and interceptions as if his last name read ‘’Grossman.'’
Lo and behold, Eli finally led the Giants to the big dance, Super Bowl XLII, win this one and Eli will finally be one of the greatest Manning quarterbacks to have ever played this game. (There are only three of them anyway…)
A win this Sunday could be REDEMPTION for the entire New York Giants organization too. You see, seven years ago, the Giants lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-7, at Super Bowl XXXV, giving the franchise a Super Bowl loss that is STILL that hard to swallow today.
‘’That game still irritates me,'’ 2001 New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi said.
Former Giants linebacker, Jessie Armstead, a guy who was involved in a somewhat controversial play of that fateful game seven years ago, relived the memory of that Super Bowl loss as if it was only yesterday.
‘’It’s the biggest game in football, and so many players never get to it,'’ Armstead said. ‘’So people want to know what’s it like. Or, they ask what happened. And I wish I had a better story to tell them.'’
Majority of the teams that lose in the Super Bowl had a miserable run the following season. Just ask the Chicago Bears this year after getting to Super Bowl XLI last season. The New York Giants will be trying to avoid that. Winning this football game on Sunday just might do the trick.
STILL, I wouldn’t be putting any money on them though.

“Eli will definitely be a B-atch?” And you call that an “Educated Bet?” New York will shock the world this Sunday and the Patriots will finish with a loss… AT THE SUPERBOWL.

Obviously Letterman writes his own material and he doesn’t need any writers from the guild. So I will excuse your UN-educatedbet.
