Rejoice Green Bay! Brett Favre is back with the Packers!
After all that unnecessary drama, turns out that the Packers will let Favre compete for his old starting spot after all.
Yes people, Brett Favre will be hoping to have his old starting spot back in Green Bay before the brand new 2008-09 NFL football season kicks off this September. After the Packers have already committed to start the young prodigy, Aaron Rodgers, the franchise has decided to give Favre a shot. You can just imagine how Rodgers feels eh?
With the Green Bay Packers finally giving in to their fans, a dramatic rivalry between Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers begins deep in the Packers camp. Who will get the starting spot back? The Packers could care less. As far as they’re concerned, it’s better to have Favre with you and not AGAINST you.
”Having crossed the Rubicon once when Brett decided to retire, it’s very difficult to reorient our plans and cross it again in the opposite direction, but we’ll put this to our advantage,” Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy said in the statement.
Perhaps the only loser in this situation is Aaron Rodgers, a guy who was assured of the Packers’ starting QB spot a few months ago until Favre decided that retirement wasn’t for him after all, YET.
Thanks to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Rodgers is now looking at what was once his starting QB spot on the verge of being handed back to his mentor. The coming season was suppose to be his time to shine but thanks to Goodell meddling on other people’s affairs, his ”time to shine” may have to wait until Favre decides to retire again.
Of course, I’m not complaining one bit.
Goodell accomplished to broker a peace deal between one of the greatest players in football, that being Favre, and one of the game’s greatest franchises, that being the Packers. The ongoing feud between these two entities was unthinkable and thanks to Goodell, Green Bay is finally at peace, for now.
Favre will be officially reinstated Monday, 1 p.m. ET. Then, the battle for the Packers’ starting spot between Favre and Rodgers can officially begin.
