Roger Federer - Rafael Nadal match in Wimbledon Final?
This is as obvious as J.J. Jack being labeled a racist by some idiot every single time he writes about Manny Pacquiao.
The 2008 Wimbledon Championships are about to conclude and while the women’s division already have two gorillas battling it out for the championship, nothing is settled in the men’s side of things yet.
But still, even you can see Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal already on their way to a classic face-off for the men’s title in the 2008 All England Lawn Tennis Championships right? Standing on Federer’s and Nadal’s way are Marat Safin and Rainer Schuettler respectively. Can both guys overcome this Friday?
As good as Roger Federer has been this year, the guy is just happy to earn a spot in the semi-finals. ‘’I'm just very happy I didn’t have to burn unnecessary energy,'’ Federer said, referring to his somewhat easy quarter-final face-off with Mario Ancic. He’s the only man who has not dropped a set in this year’s Wimbledon.
‘’I was in complete control. I was never really under pressure. I served well. I didn’t have to save a break point. When you go through a match like that, you know you’re in a good and comfortable position.'’
Standing on his way, hoping to put Federer out of his comfort zone, is Marat Safin. Safin overcome Spanish 31st seed Feliciano Lopez, 3-6 7-5 7-6 6-3 to earn the semi-final spot against the world No.1. He out-aced Lopez 18 to 17, to put him in control of the match after dropping the first set.
Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, will look to win his semi-final face-off against Rainer Schuettler after dominating Andy Murray, 6-3 6-2 6-4.
Rafael Nadal believes he definitely has a better chance of finally winning a Grand Slam title away from the clay courts. He needs to anyway because he doesn’t have any titles whatsoever other than the four French Open championships he has won in his career yet.
‘’I think I am doing a lot of things better than last year. Slicing better, the position on court, this is better,'’ Nadal said. ‘’Last year was close. Only one more point and probably I have the trophy in my home.'’
‘’But first I’m gonna have a difficult match against (Schuettler) because (he is) playing well.'’
