Shaquille O’Neal and Jason Kidd debut with a loss
So much about them kicking things off with their new teams on a high note eh?
Yes, it was debut night for both Shaquille O’Neal and Jason Kidd as they played with their new teams Wednesday night after getting traded this 2007-08 NBA basketball season.
However, both stars failed to help their respective teams to a win. Shaquille O’Neal started things off with the Phoenix Suns losing to the Los Angeles Lakers 130-124 while Jason Kidd was outplayed by Chris Paul and ended up losing his first game back with the Dallas Mavericks after the New Orleans Hornets came up with the 104-93 win.
Ouch. Definitely not the way to kick things off after all the hype that surrounded each players’ debut nights. For Shaq and Jason Kidd, let’s hope their next game ends up in the win column. I mean, puh-lease… the teams that traded for them gave up a lot just to land them there and losing is probably not included in their agenda when they dealt for them.
Lets start with J-Kidd’s return to the Dallas Mavericks. Kidd was making his first game back to the team that drafted him since the Mavs traded him to Phoenix.
He was up against a younger, faster prototypical point guard named Chris Paul. Younger and faster was the case indeed as CP3 simply outplayed the veteran, coming up with 31 points, 11 assists and nine steals to spoil Kidd’s return game with the Mavericks.
As for Shaq’s first game with the Phoenix Suns, he was up against a former foe, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Yes, he lost too.
In what was probably the most exciting game of Wednesday, the Phoenix Suns resumed their rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers probably strengthened with this thing between Shaq and Kobe.
Shaquille O’Neal had a solid performance of 15 points and nine rebounds. However, Kobe Bryant just couldn’t let Shaq have this one as he exploded for a game-high 41 points.
Yes, Kobe STILL hates Shaq that much I guess.
