Stephon Marbury was told by Donnie Walsh to stay the fuck away from his New York Knicks
Until those guys from the front office figures out what the fuck they wanna’ do with him.
Yes, you read it, Stephon Marbury was told to stay away from the New York Knicks this 2008-09 NBA basketball season. Of course, if you’ve been following the NBA lately, especially if you’re a fan from New York, you probably saw this one coming. What is surprising is the fact that the Knicks haven’t gotten rid of him yet.
Until the New York Knicks front office figures out a way to ultimately get rid of Marbury, the disgruntled guard was told to stay away from the team for the time being. That means NO GAMES, NO PRACTICES, hell, he can’t even watch the games live.
Knicks president Donnie Walsh
initially offered a buyout but unfortunately, Stephon Marbury wasn’t satisfied with it after a brief 15-minute meeting. Marbury’s attorney, Hal Biagas spent another 20 minutes with Walsh before leaving and telling the rest of the world that this saga between the Knicks and his client has not come to a conclusion.
In a statement, Walsh said, ‘’After meeting with Stephon and his representative this afternoon, we have directed Stephon not to participate in practice or attend games until further notice. We want to continue to meet with him to discuss a long-term resolution.'’
That ‘’long-term resolution'’ is already pointing towards a bitter end with Marbury already making it public that he wants out of New York. Before he was traded to the Knicks from the Suns, Marbury, a native of Coney Island, stated that playing for the Knicks is a dream for him. That’s what coach Larry Brown told us too. He’s now in Charlotte coaching the Bobcats after only a year coaching the Knicks.
Stephon Marbury has also began to lash out at his former Knicks teammates, which makes Walsh’s judgment call of keeping Stephon away from the rest of the team a good idea.
‘’I sat there for three weeks and didn’t say one word,'’ Stephon Marbury said in an interview. ‘’I didn’t hear one of my teammates say, ‘Why isn’t Stephon Marbury playing? This is a good system for him, even to play with the second unit and bring more firepower.’ When things got bad and then worse, guys like Quentin Richardson say, ‘I don’t consider him a teammate. He let his teammates out to dry.’ He didn’t care I was his teammate when I was banished.'’
‘’They left me out for dead. It’s like we’re in a foxhole and I’m facing the other way. If I got shot in the head, at least you want to get shot by the enemy. I got shot in the head by my own guys in my foxhole. And they didn’t even give me an honorable death.'’
