The Boston Celtics lose to the Washington Wizards (again…) before the 2008 NBA Playoffs begin

What’s with the Wizards that the Celtics just can’t figure out?

Yes folks, the Celtics lost again to the Wizards, marking their third loss to the boys from the nation’s capital this 2007-08 NBA basketball season. Washington’s 109-95 win over the Celtics made them the only team to beat Boston thrice this year, winning their season series with the Celtics 3-1.

As of press time, the Washington Wizards sit at the no.5 spot for the 2008 NBA playoffs and with four games remaining, they still can overtake the Cleveland Cavaliers at no.4 and probably earn themselves a second round playoff encounter with the team they have already beaten thrice this season. (Which would be Boston of course…)

Kevin GarnettIf all of that happens, this thing the Boston Celtics have been carrying around the moment they signed both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen (that being their dream of an NBA championship…) will probably be crushed by the boys from D.C. in the playoffs because, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, the Wizards have the Celtics’ number.

Hell, if Antawn Jamison’s dunk over Kevin Garnett last Wednesday didn’t convince you that the Washington Wizards are Boston’s kryptonite so to speak, I don’t know what will. And oh yeah, the former Tar Heel made KG look bad en route to Boston’s rather humbling defeat.

If there’s one highlight during that game that will likely be recalled more than any other, that baseline dunk Antawn Jamison had over Kevin Garnett would have to be it. Of course, the ex-Tar Heel was more than happy about it too.

‘’It’s just letting the young fellows know I still got it,'’ Antawn Jamison said with a laugh. ‘’I joke with them all the time. For me, it was an aggressive move going to the basket, and I was able to find it.'’

Jamison adds, ‘’It says a lot to beat them three games to one throughout the regular season. I think if the matchup was to occur as far as meeting them in the second round or whatever, it gives us the confidence to know that we can match up with them. We’re taking their best shot.'’

Uh oh… Looks like Celtics are being set-up to a demise similar to another team from the Boston area a few months ago.

The New England Patriots.
