This is the 2008 BCS National Championship Game?!?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgI know, with the way the regular season has been in college football, many of you probably don’t like the two competing teams we have.

After all, the Ohio state Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers did not really impress everybody THAT much anyway, with the Buckeyes and their 11-1 mark, and the Tigers becoming the first two-loss team at 11-2 to play at a BCS title game on Monday when the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game is waged.

Many even question whether the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers are really the two best teams in the country or not. Those guys claim, if it wasn’t for the TV promos and the BCS crystal trophy, people wouldn’t even realize that the Buckeyes and the Tigers are playing in the 2008 BCS title game.

2008 AllState BCS Championship GameI can’t blame them too. Both Ohio State and LSU got to the BCS title game after hitting the BCS rankings lotto.

Take the LSU Tigers for instance, becoming the first two-loss team to play in a BCS national championship game is definitely not a good thing. LSU squeezed past Tennessee in the SEC championship before LSU officials pleaded their case why their team should jump from No.7 then to No.2 by saying that they didn’t lose a game in regulation. (Wha?!?)

Now, I don’t have anything against LSU but the fact of the matter is, they still LOST. They gave up 47 points in a triple-overtime loss at Kentucky and 50 points in another triple overtime loss to Arkansas.

LSU didn’t play particularly well to finish the season, losing two of its last seven games. Admittedly, the Tigers had some compelling issues, beginning with injuries, the Les Miles / Michigan intrigue and playing in the country’s toughest conference. But be honest, which two-loss team was playing better at the end of the season anyway? USC? Georgia? LSU? Survey says… Georgia, then USC…

…Then LSU.

(Because of personal reasons… this writer refuses to take a shot at the Buckeyes…)

Who will win the 2008 AllState BCS national championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the LSU Tigers? Bodog Sportsbook, despite all the shit these guys went through in 2007, still has the odds.

LSU Tigers -4.5

Ohio State Buckeyes +4.5
