Updated BCS Rankings after Week 10 in the 2008 NCAA College Football Season (Yes, we have a new No.1…)

Surprise surprise, we have a new team on top.

You read it, after two weeks of consistency, the revolving door of the 2008 NCAA college football season starts moving again with a new team on top of the BCS rankings.

Yes, we have a new team on top and after 10 weeks into the season, the Alabama Crimson Tide, with a still perfect record of 9-0, gets the nod after the Texas Longhorns lost to state rivals Texas Tech Red Raiders over the weekend.

Of course, after beating the former No.1 team in the country, the Texas Tech Red Raiders get the second overall spot. The title ‘’third best team in the country'’ belongs to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Alabama Crimson TideOne thing to take note after week 10 would have to be the fact that if the undefeated Red Raiders of the Big 12 and the undefeated Crimson Tide of the Southeastern Conference keep on winning, they’ll probably meet each other playing for a BCS national championship come January.

Alabama had a BCS average of .9747. Texas Tech has .9372 and Penn State .9286.

The unbeaten Penn State Nittany Lions will still need Alabama or Texas Tech to lose a game to earn a BCS national championship bid. However, with Texas Tech facing ninth-place Oklahoma State and sixth-place Oklahoma in its next two games, plus a possible Big 12 title game down the road, the Red Raiders should be in position to further pad their lead over Penn State if they can keep winning.

Penn State will play at Iowa next week, then finishes the season at home against Indiana and Michigan State. The only ranked team the Nittany Lions have beaten is Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions also better watch their backs. Fourth-place Texas (.8531), fifth-place Florida (.8268) and sixth-place Oklahoma (.8220), all have one loss each but will ultimately face tougher schedules than Penn State.

The USC Trojans (.7551) are seventh, followed by Utah (.6972).
