Yankees - Blue Jays MLB Border Rivalry begin Friday

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBoth cities are only separated by a border, on Friday one will try to outplay the other.

The three game season series between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays start Friday night at the Roger Centre as the 2008 MLB baseball season resumes in Canada.

Both teams are from the American League East Division. The New York Yankees have a 47-42 win-loss card while the Toronto Blue Jays stays at the tail end of the standings in the East with a 42-47 mark.

One interesting thing to watch 2008 MLB baseball seasonin this game is how will Mike Mussina play since he did not make the 2008 MLB All Star Game roster after he was cut by Boston Red Sox and American League manager Terry Francona.

The veteran pitcher eased any hard feelings by pointing out a lot of worthy candidates didn’t get the call as well.

‘’I'm probably a little disappointed, sure,'’ Mike Mussina, who won 11 games this year, said after the roster was announced. ‘’But if you look at the list of guys that didn’t get to go, you could pick a whole other team from the guys on the bubble who didn’t go.'’

The Yankees will send Joba Chamberlain to the mound to compete against the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan. Joba Chamberlain has a better record of 2.45 ERA compared to Dustin McGowan’s 4.37.

Because of the fact that these two teams are just separated by border, you can expect large numbers of New York Yankees fans who will converge to Toronto when the Blue Jays host the Bronx bombers.

The Toronto Blue Jays are based at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario Canada, Southern and central Ontario. On the other hand, the New York Yankees are based at Yankee Stadium in NYC, NY in the Upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania.
