2009 College Football Week 11 Gambling Guide

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIt’s Week 11 and we have Florida trying to extend a nation-best 18-game winning streak.

Yep, it has been that crazy for the Florida Gators this 2009 NCAA college football season. Can they remain on top of the BCS after this weekend? They have the South Carolina Gamecocks next and I have a feeling the Gators will continue pounding on the rest of the field.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will be led by quarterback Stephen Garcia, who has thrown for 2,094 yards, including three 300-yard games. The 6-2, 219-pound sophomore has thrown 12 touchdowns and five interceptions. Garcia ranks 10th in the SEC in passing efficiency and yet he squandered chances for signature moments, such as the final offensive snap at Georgia.

Don’t expect these guys to stop the Florida Gators from winning their 19th straight game.

tcu_horned_frogsWe also have some other games that should prove to be profitable for ya’ll, like this one between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Hawkeyes are looking to improve their current BCS standing, a win over Ohio State will do just that.

The 4th seeded Iowa Hawkeyes will continue to rely on the services of quarterback Ricky Stanzi, despite throwing five interceptions in their last win against Indiana.

Iowa remains fourth in the BCS for the second straight week, their highest ranking in school history. The Hawkeyes are also the highest-rated Big Ten team in the BCS. Iowa is 78-43 in this decade (.644), one of the best winning percentages in school history. The Hawkeyes were 77-40-4 (.652) during the 1980s.

But will you pick them over Ohio State? I won’t.

Next we have the TCU Horned Frogs, who are still in the hunt for their first BCS bowl game as they slug it out against the Utah Utes. Thanks to Andy Dalton’s heroics last week when he came up with two touchdown passes and a pair of TD runs, the Horned Frogs remain undefeated and look primed to earn a BCS invite come January.

Dalton led an offense that scored on five of its first six possessions and gained more than 500 yards for the second straight game. TCU’s 12-game winning streak is the nation’s third-longest behind Florida’s 18-game streak and Texas’ 13-game run. Iowa had won 13 straight before losing to Northwestern last week.

And in case you haven’t guessed it yet, the Utah Utes won’t even stand a chance.

And last but certainly oot the least, we have the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish getting it on at Pittsburgh.

Greg Williams’ 51-yard interception return for a touchdown just before halftime got slow-starting Pittsburgh going, as the Panthers extended their best start to a season since 1982 by beating Syracuse 37-10 on Saturday.

Dion Lewis ran for 110 yards and a touchdown for the freshman’s sixth 100-yard game, tight end Dorin Dickerson caught his 10th touchdown pass this season and the Panthers (8-1, 5-0 in Big East) won their fifth in a row.

While the Panthers are having the time of their lives, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish has been struggling. Notre Dame dropped out of the rankings after suffering a 23-21 upset loss from the Navy Midshipmen. Craig Schaefer sacked Jimmy Clausen in the end zone with 60 seconds left Saturday and Navy held on to beat the 19th-ranked Fighting Irish.

The Fighting Irish don’t have anything going for them the last couple of weeks and you won’t go wrong with Pittsburgh come gameday.
