Can Michael Vick ever come back and play for the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL now that he’s out of prison?

In case you didn’t know, he’s finally out.

From being a Pro Bowl quarterback with a $130 million contract from the Atlanta Falcons to becoming a felon guilty of dog fighting conspiracy charges, Michael Vick’s road to personal, professional and financial redemption began with his release from a federal prison with the brand new 2009 NFL football season just around the corner.

Michael Vick became an ex-Falcon the moment he was accused of dog fighting in July 2007. And in November, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank Jr. said that Michael Vick deserves a second chance, just not with Atlanta. ”I would certainly encourage another owner to look at him in a very serious way,” Blank said.

Michael VickMichael Vick has served most of his original 23-month prison sentence and he did not get Club Fed. He got the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas for most of the sentence, losing an estimated $100 million in salary and endorsements.

The Atlanta Falcons made everything official buy putting a notary public stamp on Vick’s paperwork and will trade his rights to another team, a known fact to all NFL fans. The hanging questions are when will he return and in what uniform will he be wearing.

There is no doubt that Michael Vick can return to the NFL. Jamal Lewis committed a crime and he’s back in the NFL playing for the Cleveland Browns. However, Lewis plays running back and playing the quarterback position in the NFL is another story, especially if you’ve been out of the sport for years.

Vick will have to be ready and willing to take his talents to another position if he wants to come back to the NFL. Vick must go to the right team to be successful too. That is of course, of there’ll be teams out there willing to have him. Teams must be certain that they are not damaging their organization if they decide to sign Vick.

I guess you can say that the odds are stacked against Vick on a comeback. But that doesn’t mean the guy will quit on it because he shouldn’t.
