Can Saints stay undefeated after Monday Night Football?
They have the Falcons next at the Superdome.
At 6-0, the New Orleans Saints remain as the only undefeated team in the NFC at this point of the 2009 NFL football season. They are clearly having one heckuva’ season to remember and I don’t think any team in the NFC South will give them Saints a run for their money anytime soon.
On Monday night, the New Orleans Saints will prove just how good they are from the rest of their division as they play their first divisional game of the season against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons.
Last Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons got their
two-game winning streak snapped by the Dallas Cowboys 37-21. Matt Ryan, after taking the league by storm in his rookie season, is struggling as of late. In his last two games, Ryan had dismal quarterback ratings of 68.4 and 66.1 against the Bears and the Cowboys respectively, both teams coming from the usually competitive NFC.
This Sunday, Matt Ryan takes on yet another NFC opponent in the New Orleans Saints. And just like the Bears and the Cowboys, the Saints also have an impressive secondary Ryan has to deal with all game long, led by Saints safety Darren Sharper.
If Drew Brees is the leader on offense for the Saints, Darren Sharper has to be their main guy on D. With six interceptions already into the season, quarterbacks should start thinking twice before throwing footballs towards his direction. With Brees patrolling the offense and Sharper leading the defense, it makes you wonder how in the heck can the rest of the NFL score a win over New Orleans this year.
The Saints are so well put together this season that you can’t blame them for talking about going through the entire season undefeated. Saints running back Reggie Bush was asked during an interview in a local sports radio show if he thought the Saints could go undefeated and his answer didn’t really surprise anybody.
”Yes. I do think we have the players, the chemistry, we have the heart and dedication, (and) the coaching staff,” Reggie Bush said.
”We can win each game one at a time, and if you do that enough times, maybe you go undefeated,” Drew Brees said. ”We’re not overlooking anybody; we’re never looking farther ahead than the game that is the next one. There is no bigger game this season as of yet than Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons at home, in the Dome, our first divisional game, all of those things.”
”The game couldn’t be any bigger.”
