England second home to the New England Patriots?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAnd that’s not just because England fans cheer for the Patriots for having ‘England’ on their team’s name.

Yes, it’s silly really. But fans from England will now keep on cheering for them Patriots after the way they just dominated the field at Wembley Stadium. It was the first game overseas this 2009 NFL football season and this time, it was the Buccaneers bending over for the Patriots en route to the 35-7 ass whooping.

The New England Patriots were winless on the road coming into this one, losing their last two games away from home. But thanks to the American football fans at Wembley Stadium, New England finally got its first win on the road in England, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in emphatic fashion.

tom_bradyThe way English fans have been behind the Patriots that afternoon made the Buccaneers feel lost. And boy, were they lost indeed as they were yet to hit the scoreboard after almost two quarters. The Patriots were already ahead of the Bucs 21-0 before Josh Johnson connected with Antonio Bryant to score Tampa Bay’s first score of the game. But it was clear the Patriots had all the momentum, and with the crowd at Wembley Stadium behind them, the Bucs didn’t even had a chance.

It was evident in the second half when the New England Patriots scored two more TDs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Zero. In the end, the Pats won, 35-7 in what is technically their first win on the road.

It was the third straight year the NFL held regular season games in London, England. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been flirting about the idea of having multiple regular season games there. Heck, the guy even plans to have a franchise in England. If that happens, that’ll probably just help the Patriots win more games because until they call themselves the Foxboro Patriots, England fans will continue to root for the team dubbed New England until somebody explains to this fans that the New England Patriots are not representing anything from England.

For now, Tom Brady will be happy to leave England with the win.

”All the flashbulbs were going off there before the kickoff,” two-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady said. ”They went on for about 10 minutes, which you don’t see in the States too often. I think it’s a privilege to come over here and get to enjoy this type of experience. It will probably never happen again for us, so we’ll retire 1-0 internationally.”
