Miami Heat trading Marion to have an O’Neal back?

Shaquille O’Neal is back on the spotlight after spending a full year last season in obscurity.

Shaq is definitely a force this 2008-09 NBA basketball season. He’s back averaging double-double figures again, leading the Phoenix Suns to have the second best record in the Pacific division, next only to the Los Angeles Lakers.

And I reckon, if the Miami Heat has the opportunity for a do-over, they wouldn’t get rid of Shaquille O’Neal for Shawn Marion. They are barely staying above the .500 mark this season and if it wasn’t for Dwyane Wade dropping monster numbers every night, Miami will be lottery-bound as early as the first half of the season.

Now, Miami is contemplating on Miami Heattrading Shawn Marion for O’Neal. But since they know Shaq has a knack for keeping grudges, particularly on teams that decided to get rid of him, they are not trying to land this O’Neal back. What they want is to sign the OTHER O’Neal from Canada, Jermaine O’Neal of the Toronto Raptors.

Yes, for some reason, there are rumors that claim the Miami Heat is open to the idea of trading Shawn Marion to the Toronto Raptors for Jermaine O’Neal, a seven-foot giant who spends more time on the injury list than his team’s starting lineup.

Sure, Jermaine O’Neal is a force inside, that’s during those rare, and these are VERY rare, times that he’s healthy. If healthy, Jermaine will definitely address one of Pat Riley’s biggest needs since trading Shaquille O’Neal, a center he can rely on. Unfortunately for Michael Beasley, he was not the tower of power inside Miami was hoping him to be when they drafted him.

But get this, apparently, Pat Riley is less interested in trading for Jermaine O’Neal than letting Shawn Marion go. It seems Riley just wants to get rid of Marion and rumors have it that the guy has been talking to some other teams in hopes of finally coming across of a team willing to pay Marion’s hefty salary.

Aside from Toronto, the Miami Heat is also talking to the Dallas Mavericks for a possible Marion for Josh Howard deal. The Sacramento Kings are also rumored to be negotiating with the Heat and it looks like they’ll be more than happy of landing, of all players, Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas, for Marion.

You’re an All-Star and your team is just satisfied to get Miller and Thomas for you?!? Something is definitely wrong there. Well, I guess it could get worse, like your team trading you for a fucking draft pick. That’s what the Nuggets did to Camby.
