Quinton Rampage Jackson turns down UFC Title Fight

WTF?!?

My sentiments exactly. In case you didn’t know, UFC President Dana White offered Rampage’ Jackson a shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Title currently held by Lyoto ”The Dragon” Machida.

Who in the right frame of mind would turn down a title shot? Well, Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson did. And you wouldn’t believe his reason for turning down the chance to become a UFC champion again.

Apparently, back in UFC 96, when Rampage Jackson just beat the crap out of Keith ”The Dean of Mean” (Seriously, the dean of mean?) Jardine, Rashad Evans, for no apparent reason, climbed into the cage after the match and began jawing nose – to – nose with Jackson.

Quinton Rampage JacksonSome who saw it figured that the entire thing was merely a marketing stunt to generate some hype for a possible match-up between the two light heavyweights in a future pay – per – view event. However Jackson, just recently, claimed that the animosity between him and Evans is no stunt, and what happened back in UFC 96 after his fight is certainly not intended to hype-up a future pay – per – view fight between the two.

We found out that Jackson was telling the truth. This thing between him and Evans is not intended to promote a light heavyweight fight in a UFC pay – per – view event. Rather, it’s for the 10th season of ”The Ultimate Fighter” where Jackson and Evans will both be coaches.

Yup, that’s why he turned down a shot at Lyoto Machida’s UFC Light Heavyweight Title, to coach against Evans in ”The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10.

This will be the second time Jackson will be coaching a team in ”The Ultimate Fighter.” He coached against Forrest Griffin back in Season 7.

”Everybody knows I didn’t like coaching because I’m a sore loser when it comes to stuff like that,” Quinton Jackson said. ”I was kind of upset about it and at first, I said I’d never coach again. But I have a good relationship with my first team and this time, I want to go out there and win.”

”When I found out who I would be coaching against, I couldn’t turn it down. You know, Rashad left a bad taste in my mouth. He got up in my face (following the UFC 96 fight) with his bad-ass breath. I’m from Memphis. We don’t like that (stuff).”
