The 2009 March Madness Tournament Begins Today
In case you have no idea what that is, the 2009 March Madness bracket tournament will be kicking off today as 64 of the nation’s best college basketball programs will be hoping to win the national championship in Detroit.
Of course, it’s a long way from now to the national championship game in Mo’ Town. The field of 64 would be narrowed down to the final 16 first, dubbed as the Sweet 16, then to the Elite Eight before we see the remaining four teams that will qualify for the 2009 NCAA Final Four.
The no.1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels will kick off their campaign in the tournament when they play the 16th seed Radford Highlanders from the South region. Radford has only been averaging 67.3 points a game this year, making them a rather easy out for the Tar Heels, who’s averaging 92.7 points this season.
Take the North Carolina Tar Heels to win their first game from the South region in Day 1 of these March Madness bracket battles. Don’t you even think about betting on the Radford Highlanders unless your playing the spread.
Another top seeded team kicking off their March Madness campaign is the no.1 seed Connecticut Huskies from the West region. Standing across them this Thursday will be the Chattanooga Mocs.
Like that game between the Tar Heels and the Highlanders from the South, this game between the Connecticut Huskies and the Chattanooga Mocs should also be an easy win for seed no.1.
With an average of 82.1 points per game, Connecticut should have no trouble whatsoever taking care of business come game time. Chattanooga is only averaging 61.8 points a game, that’s even worse than what the Highlanders are putting up.
The Midwest region’s no.1 seed, Louisville Cardinals and the top seeded Pittsburgh Panthers from the East will kick off their respective runs on Friday when they take on the Morehead State Eagles and the East Tennessee State Buccaneers respectively.
The Louisville Cardinals are still everybody’s favorite to win it all.
