Tony Parker will play for the Cleveland Cavaliers too

If you’re a Spurs fan, you can relax. It’s Anthony Parker, not the fiery Spurs point guard imported from France.

Now if you’re a Cavaliers fan, then you should be hyped up for the coming 2009 NBA basketball season. I mean, your team just inked arguably the biggest deal of the offseason with the signing of Shaquille O’Neal and now, you’ll have arguably the most underrated talent in the league in Anthony Parker playing for your team too.

Yes, after the Cavs got Shaquille O’Neal, they got Anthony Parker to sign a modest two-year deal worth $6 million. And since he’s probably at the prime of his career at the age of 34, singing him now was brilliant.

Cleveland CavaliersParker averaged 10.7 points and 3.4 assists in 80 games for the Raptors last season and at 6’6”, he provides the Cleveland Cavaliers the type of length they’ve been looking for in the perimeter.

Not that they need any more help. With LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal on their side, the Cavs already have all the firepower that they need to win games but since Parker can also play defense better than he can play offense, having him around will at least save James some work on the other side of the floor.

Of course, Anthony Parker was more than happy to finally play for a team that can compete for the championship. And since he claims it was Cleveland that pursued him the most the last couple of weeks, finally signing on that dotted line was more than pleasurable.

”For me it’s always about who really saw me fitting in with what they’re trying to do,” Anthony Parker said.

”Cleveland has been that team from the beginning. They showed the most interest and pursued me the hardest. It just so happens they’re also a team that’s contending, which is even better.”

”It was a fit all the way through.”
