Will the Phoenix Suns trade Amare Stoudemire next?
Looks like the Suns are really serious in rebuilding their underachieving franchise.
Either that or they just wanna catch one of the big fishes that will be in the market once the 2010 free agency period gets here. And with the way the Suns traded away Shaquille O’Neal as if he was nothing but just another run – of – the – mil seven-footer, it looks like these guys could care less how will their 2009 NBA basketball season go.
Merely days after the Phoenix Suns virtually gave away Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers, rumors came out that the team is willing to give up another one of their bigger stars.
You read it, there are rumors that claim the Phoenix Suns are willing to give up Amare Stoudemire to the Golden State Warriors, completing arguably the biggest roster disassembly the NBA has seen in quite a while. Apparently, the Warriors wanted Stoudemire since February when Phoenix first made their prized forward available. And now that the Suns proved that NO ONE is safe after trading Shaq, seeing Stoudemire in Golden State just became more of a possibility.
But the question is, who would the Phoenix Suns want in return?
Since the Golden State Warriors got to Stephen Curry first before the New York Knicks could in the recently concluded NBA Draft, it would be understandable for the Suns to want that guy. Curry, after all, has the makings of becoming the next pure shooter in the NBA with the freakish range that he has.
The Phoenix Suns could also want Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wirght, Marco Belinelli and / or Kelenna Azubuike as part of any package deal they can demand from the Golden State Warriors. That is if those guys want Stoudemire that bad.
But before any of that can happen, it would be best for the Warriors to make sure Stoudemire’s eye and microfracture – repaired knee are at 100 percent. These guys should also hammer out the framework of the guy’s contract or they’d end up with a guy who can leave them in free agency in 2010 after giving up half of their roster.
Whichever the case may be, things will just get worse for Suns fans in a few days.
