Matches to bet on in UFC 112: Invincible this Saturday

With two huge championship matches on the card featuring two of the very best stars in MMA today, you can’t afford to miss this one.

That’s right, UFC 112: Invincible will feature two of the best the sport of MMA has to offer as UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn defend their respective championship belts this Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

It doesn’t get any better than that and when it comes to who is the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC is concerned, nobody, AB-SO-LUTE-LY nobody, can compare to ”The Spider” Anderson Silva.

The Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist will defend his UFC middleweight title against Demian Maia in what should be one fantastic showdown. Silva has been plowing down on all comers for years. Can Maia be that one guy who can finally put an end to Silva’s reign as the king of the octagon?

Other matches to watch out for and of course, bet on, is the UFC lightweight championship match between the champion BJ Penn and his challenger, Frankie Edgar. This could be Penn’s last match as the UFC lightweight champion as he is heavily rumored to making a move to the welterweight division to have another crack at the title.

Ever since Penn dedicated himself to conditioning with the Marinovich brothers we have seen a new BJ Penn. He has absolutely destroyed his last two opponents and even though both went to the championship rounds he looked like the fresher fighter, which wasn’t the norm in past fights. Penn’s jiu jitsu is far superior, his sprawl is excellent, and his boxing is technically superior to Frankie Edgar’s. To top it off Edgar isn’t exactly known as a finisher, while BJ is.

However, Penn can’t afford to look past Frankie Edgar. Edgar is 11-1 with five wins by TKO. He is a grappler and has solid boxing pedigree. He has scratched and clawed his way to the top and he looks determined to take Penn’s throne this Saturday.

Another match to look forward to is the very first meeting between two future UFC Hall of Famers as the returning Matt Hughes takes on Renzo Gracie. Respected all around the world, Hughes is a former two-time UFC welterweight champion and one of the greatest fighters to ever compete inside the Octagon. In a career stretching 12 years, Hughes has etched his name in the history books, having been involved in some of the most exciting and inspiring Octagon battles of the modern era.

Hughes wants his welterweight title back and he will begin his journey back to the title picture this Saturday. Standing in his way is Renzo Gracie, who is looking to avenge his cousin, Royce Gracie, when he lost to Hughes back in 2006.

UFC 112: Invincible is shaping up to be one pay per view event MMA fans shouldn’t miss. Why should you?
