Will the third time be the charm for Michael Schumacher since coming back?
Michael Schumacher is chasing a change in fortune with the seven-time World Champ determined to add to the sole point he has scored this 2012 F1 season.
Since Michael Schumacher returned to Formula One with Mercedes, he has twice finished in the points in China, however, neither race could be deemed successful.
In 2010, his first year back, the German was tenth after being passed by several other drivers in the wet while last season he was P8 due to a disappointing qualifying session, the result of DRS problems. And they are just two on the long list of moments Schumacher has had in China.
”When I think about the Chinese Grand Prix, the fans are the first thing that comes to mind,” Schumacher said. ”For many years now, I’ve had a big and loyal fan base there, and it’s still very touching to see the lengths they go to in supporting me. A big thank you to all of them!”
”As for the race itself, I’ve never had much luck in Shanghai, apart from my win in 2006; however that could change this year.”
But in order for lady luck to smile down on the Mercedes driver, he admits his team needs to be able to match their race pace to their qualifying performances.
”In the first two races of 2012, we didn’t manage to maintain our qualifying pace in race conditions,” he said. ”We’ve been working intensively on this, so that we can offer our fans a strong performance in China.”
