Can Tiger Woods ever get his clean image back?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIn case you haven’t heard, Woods is trying to get his life back together now that he’s back together again with his wife.

That’s right, Elin Nordegren has agreed to return with Tiger Woods to their Isleworth home in Florida like they just woke up from a bad dream, an expensive one at that, pretending like nothing happened. This is probably Tiger’s first step towards rebuilding what was once a very clean image that will probably win him the presidency if he ever wanted to run for office.

Of course, Tiger Woods knows he has to come back at the top of his golf game first and he intends to spend the coming weeks practicing his swings while probably flirting with sponsors to get the endorsement deals he lost through this ordeal. Having his wife and family aboard is what the sponsors want anyway and now that Tiger has ‘em again on his side, all he can do now is hope guys like Gatorade and Gillette takes him back.

”The marriage is all smoke and mirrors, but Elin will help Tiger rebuild his image and gain new sponsorships because this is what his life is all about, she is doing this more for the kids and holding the family together then anything else,” a source said.

Woods, the source believes, will not come back to the world of golf until he can once again knock down 100-foot putts. Since he has been away from his daily routine, he will need to practice a lot more to return to where he was before news about his infidelity broke out.

”Tiger is a super jock, but it takes time to go back when you have been away from it. I am not sure he will be ready for either the Masters or even the U.S. Open. He will know when he is ready, and then he had better knock ‘em dead,” the source said.

As for his wife, sources say she is a major asset to his…

Should England get David Beckham for the World Cup?

By: J.J. Jack

For whatever its worth, he really really wants to.

Former England team captain David Beckham is eager to represent his country in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He got a deal with AC Milan, allowing him to stay in game shape in Italy over the next few weeks during Major League Soccer’s off-season.

England team manager Fabio Capello will decide whether or not he will name the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to his 23-man roster for this year’s World Cup in South Africa. Capello has publicly stated that Beckham must be playing first-team soccer at the highest level in the buildup to the World Cup to even be considered for the English national team this summer.

Beckham has made a handful of appearances for AC Milan and figures to be a regular starter for the Rossoneri as they attempt to chase down city rivals Inter Milan, currently in first place in Serie A, for the Italian league championship. But will that be enough to get him a spot in the England national team?

”He is a leader and an inspiration to his teammates. Equally, he is feared and respected by all of his opponents. He’s vastly experienced on the international stage. He’s a big-game player who doesn’t get intimidated by anyone,” CBC Sports soccer commentator Nigel Reed said.

David Beckham was sent to exile when he earned a red card during…

Early Betting Picks for the 2010 MLB Baseball Season

By: J.J. Jack

And as always, these early picks are brought to you by those guys from SPORTSBETTING.com. (Because they really don’t have anything else to do…)

In case you haven’t noticed, the 2010 MLB baseball season is just around the corner. The last time I was mildly interested in a baseball game, the Yankees won the World Series so it’s only fitting that we kick off this one with them Yankees and their chances to go have their re-peat.

The New York Yankees are the perennial favorites to capture the American League pennant and after winning the World Series last season, it’s no surprise that they are once again favored to capture the pennant again in 2010.

However, the Yanks will have a big distraction this season. As it stands, star shortstop Derek Jeter is going into the final year of his deal with them pinstripes and you can bet it will continue to be a distraction until the situation with is resolved.

”I was a Yankees fan growing up. This is where I want to be,” Jeter told the media as he was prepping for spring training in Tampa, Florida. ”I’ve never envisioned myself playing anywhere else, and hopefully I don’t have to.”

It’s doubtful that the Yanks would allow Jeter to leave but then again, former Boston Red Sox player Johnny Damon said he would never sign with the Yankees and he did. The Bronx Bombers are currently listed as the odds-on at +150 to represent the AL in this season’s World Series but if they lose a guy like Jeter, it’ll be awfully hard to win anything.

But hey, at least they still have Alex Rodriguez right? At this point…

Michael Schumacher will return to F1 to win another title

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWell, that’s what Jarno Trulli is saying anyway.

Michael Schumacher is set to return to Formula One after signing with Mercedes GP for the 2010 F1 season. Yes, in case you didn’t know yet, he’s coming back and he won’t be driving for Ferrari no more. Instead, he’ll compete for Ferrari’s rivals from Mercedes after a three-year sabbatical.

Can Michael Schumacher recapture the greatness he once had after three years being away from the sport? If you’ve been following F1 for quite some time, then you should know by now that betting against a guy like Michael Schumacher is a bad idea. As far as him winning another title at 41 years old is concerned, Jarno Trulli believes Schumi can do that too.

”Why not? Being 41 is not a problem; age is just a number. He’s still in very good shape, and physically and mentally I don’t think he’s going to have any problems,” Jarno Trulli said in an interview with Crash.net Radio.

”I think the only trouble he will find is returning to racing after three years, it’s not that easy to get back into the same rhythm in Formula 1. I think it will take him some races before he can really begin to attack again, but that is the only issue I can see him facing.”

Like Schumi, Jarno Trulli will also be driving for another team. You see, Toyota is no longer competing in Formula One, forcing Trulli to move to a new player this season, Lotus.

”We have to be realistic,” Trulli said. ”It’s going to be a tough season, and to begin…”

Can Danica Patrick win Daytona 500 on Valentine’s Day?

By: J.J. Jack

At least this chick won’t give her guy a hard time on where to take her on Valentine’s Day.

Because Danica Patrick will be making her NASCAR debut this weekend at the Daytona International Speedway for Daytona 500. Fresh off a pretty impressive sixth-place finish last week on the same track in an ARCA race, Patrick decided it’s time to make the move to NASCAR and what better to do it than on NASCAR’s grandest stage, Daytona.

”Racing in the Nationwide Series race was my goal during this entire two-month preparation process, but we wanted to make sure it was the right thing to do,” Danica Patrick said in a statement. ”The ARCA race was a blast, and I’m not ready for my first Daytona Speedweeks to end just yet. I want more racing.”

Patrick was originally scheduled to debut on Feb. 20 at the Nationwide race in California, but that’s been bumped up to the 2010 NASCAR season opener at Daytona because she felt so comfortable in the ARCA race. She started 12th in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 and finished sixth, including a late rally from 23rd position all the way to the front pack in just under 20 laps.

Crew chief Tony Eury Jr., who initially was against Patrick beginning her limited Nationwide schedule at Daytona, didn’t hesitate to give a yes vote after the ARCA event.

Patrick has been hesitant to make her debut at Daytona because…

BetUS.com has odds on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgCan you believe that?

With all the hype surrounding Super Bowl XLIV this Sunday, BetUS.com wants all of you to bet on a couple of movie stars who are having some sort of ”love spat” if you will.

Of course, since most of you still fantasize about Angelina Jolie, those folks from BetUS.com know ya’ll will bet on these betting odds anyway since the Super Bowl is still more than a couple of days away and you don’t have anything else to do.

And in case you haven’t heard, there are rumors that claim Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are splitting up. Of course, we have no idea if the rumors are actually true are not but as far as Brangelina is concerned, the Hollywood couple were having dinner when the rumors broke out.

So where did the rumors come from? Apparently, it all began after Brad Pitt’s real estate purchase. Pitt bought a new house next door to the one he currently shares with Jolie and according to the rumors, the house Pitt bought is going to be a bachelor pad so he and Jolie can split up.

The rumors also claim that Pitt wanted to live next door so he can still be close enough to the kids.

However, according to TMZ.com, the house in question was actually bought back in August of last year, that means Pitt already bought the house waaay before any of the rumors about them splitting up came out. TMZ also explained that Pitt bought the house so he could expand the sprawling estate he and Angelina already own.

Of course, that won’t stop you from speculating right? That’s why…

Who has better starters for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game?

By: J.J. Jack

It’s that time of the year when the NFL concludes its season for the NBA to pick up the slack.

And just like every other year in sports, the NBA will pick up the slack with a bang, kicking off the second half of the season with the 2010 NBA All-Star Game. Yes, it’s the East All-Stars going up against the West All-Stars once again as fans voted in who they feel are the five best players in each conference as All-Star starters.

Leading the East All-Stars this year is leading vote-getter LeBron James. The reigning league MVP got 2,549,693 votes this season, becoming the first player in balloting history to draw at least 2.5 million votes on three separate occasions.

James is making his sixth All-Star appearance and will start for the Eastern Conference for the sixth time in his career. Joining James in the East are Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson , the 2001 and 2005 All-Star Game MVP.

Among active players, Garnett’s 13th All-Star selection ranks second to Shaquille O’Neal who has 15. Dwight Howard of…

Stephon Marbury to play for a Chinese basketball team

By: J.J. Jack

Apparently, some Chinese guy wants to torture a few Chinese basketball fans.

In case you haven’t noticed, Stephon Marbury, after helping the Boston Celtics lose miserably to the Orlando Magic in last year’s playoffs, is nowhere to be found this 2010 NBA basketball season.

That’s because Stephon Marbury decided to leave the Celtics to take a break from basketball. Of course, you’re a jackass if you believe Marbury. And since I’m clearly not one, I wasn’t surprised to learn that Marbury decided to play hoops again, in China.

That’s right, the guy Mike D’Antoni spitted out of the NBA, will play for Shanxi in the Chinese Basketball Association. And just like that, Marbury became the highest profile American to play in the Chinese basketball pro league.

The last dude from the NBA who played here was Bonzi Wells and he averaged 50 points per game. If Marbury can’t score here then he better just pursue something else, like an acting career or something. I hear he can be funny in front of a camera.

But seriously, is signing Marbury really something you want? He hasn’t been the same since he left Phoenix for New York and after D’Antoni virtually destroyed whatever it is he…

2010 Australian Open starts badly for Maria Sharapova

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgHow come? She’s out. Already.

You read it, the 2010 Australian Open is already done with Maria Sharapova as quickly as premature ejaculation.

We can’t say we’re surprised though. With the way Maria Sharapova has been playing dating as far back as her injury-riddled campaign last year, to say that she no longer has the form that has caught the eye of most tennis fans is an understatement.

Sharapova, seeded no.14, lost her very first match in the Australian Open, losing to the unseeded Maria Kirilenko 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. With a disappointing start to her 2010 campaign, can we still expect Sharapova to have a good year?

2009 was a disastrous season for the Russian tennis sensation. Last year was so disappointing that she was looking forward for a fresh start this year, looking for a solid outing in Melbourne at the 2010 Australian Open.

Unfortunately for her, it looks like she hasn’t fully recovered from the shoulder injury that has kept her out for most of last year’s Grand Slam season.

This year will be a crucial year for Sharapova as she needs to reestablish herself is she wants to stay relevant. Sharapova began her 2010 season with two exhibition matches, with Venus Williams in Hua Hin, Thailand. She defeated Williams 6-3, 6-4 in the singles. However, she lost in the mixed doubles partnering with Paradorn Srichaphan.

Sharapova continued her preparation for the…

Will LeBron James be in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest?

By: J.J. Jack

Why are we asking? Remember James’ excitement over his intentions to be in the Slam Dunk contest last season? Well, all that died down a bit this year.

Yes, LeBron James has been having second thoughts about participating in the Slam Dunk contest for the coming All-Star break this 2010 NBA basketball season. You see, after watching Dwight Howard literally steal the show before Nate Robinson won it last year, he was going ga-ga over the fact that he might actually be in the middle of it all in Dallas this year.

Unfortunately for fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise player, James is no longer as enthusiastic as he was last year. Considered as one of the most prolific dunkers in the league today, James said that he is now only 50 – 50 to join the contest.

”I don’t know if you can get it back to the 80s and like in ‘98 when Vince (Carter) was in it. It was more about the dunks and less about what was going on around the dunks. We’ll see what happens,” LeBron James said.

James also mentioned the exhibition’s props and circus-like antics are part of the reason for his hesitance of participating in the 2010 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest. But unless James wants to further damage his public relations capital before the biggest summer of his financial life, he needs to man up and throw it down.

You see, James has had a series of PR misfires over the last…
