Tom Brady to play New England Patriots Season Opener

By: J.J. Jack

Hopefully, he’ll stay the hell away from the probable list this time.

Because the way he tends to stay on that list always makes his fantasy owners skip a heartbeat. And oh yeah, Brady will play for the Patriots to start the 2008-09 NFL football season after suffering another foot injury which he claims is entirely different from the one he got before Super Bowl XLII.

Oh yeah, in case you forgot, Tom Brady was playing with an injured foot then when his then undefeated New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants at the Super Bowl.

As of press time, Brady claims Tom Bradyhe’s feeling great and when his Patriots play the New York Giants for their last exhibition game of the preseason on Thursday, you can bet your ass Brady would want to have a part of it.

‘’I'm hoping I’m always out there,'’ Tom Brady said, referring to the preseason games he missed because of the injury, ‘’and if I don’t play, I’ll be ready for Kansas City.'’

The Patriots are scheduled to play the Kansas City Chiefs when they begin their 2008 campaign at Foxboro. Thankfully, the Chiefs are in disarray this season and I’m not expecting Brady to require that much effort from his injured foot to beat those guys.

How bad does New England need Brady? The Patriots are at a dismal 0-3 in the…

Umpires to use Instant Replay this 2008 MLB Season

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYeah sure, the regular season is about to close.

But hey, since it’s never too late to try something new, they’re still giving it a go for the remaining games of the 2008 MLB baseball season. Instant replays have always been able to tell game officials if the call made was right or not and finally, the league has decided to take advantage of it.

This should put MLB baseball in a better position to bring in fans as well since these guys, with the new instant replay thing, will see less of their team getting screwed by a stupid call made by an umpire, although this doesn’t guarantee that boredom won’t get you every single time you watch nine guys dance around a field for six hours straight.

MLB UmpiresMLB management and their umpires agree that using instant replays is the way to go, signing an agreement that will allow the sport to start using replays to help in making calls in any game.

The said deal was signed by lawyers for the commissioner’s office and the World Umpires Association (WUA) a day after WUA spokesman Lamell McMorris went public with complaints over negotiations.

‘’We reached an agreement. Final decision with respect to moving ahead has not been made yet, but we have an agreement with…'’

De La Hoya to announce when will he retire Pacquiao

By: J.J. Jack

And probably how hard will he knock the duck fetus off Pacquiao’s irritating mustache as well.

You read it, it’s that time of the year when yours truly will again hope for a ‘’Manny Pacquiao‘’ retirement, praying for a boxing pro to finally put an end to this godforsaken joke that we all know has gone way waaay too far already.

On Thursday, the ‘’Golden Boy'’ Oscar De La Hoya will officially announce his scheduled bout with the third world moron on December 6. If De La Hoya pulls off a win over Pacman, that will be an early Christmas gift for people like me who loves ‘’real tactical boxing.'’

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum still Manny Pacquiaorefuses to confirm what could be the biggest ass-kicking of a third world moron of the century. What he did told everybody is De La Hoya making a big announcement about who’s going to be his next opponent although we all know now that it’s going to be Pacquiao. Bob Arum, for some reason, is still promoting this third world joke from God knows where.

‘’We’ll know who is he is fighting tomorrow,'’ Bob Arum said from…

Will retired Michael Strahan return to the New York Giants for the coming 2008-09 NFL Football Season?

By: Syndicate

Yes, we had exactly the same thing a season ago.

And while Favre’s continued affair with retirement looms every single year, Strahan’s version of it wasn’t that predictable coming into the 2008-09 NFL football season.

After all, with the New York Giants winning the Super Bowl XLII to culminate what has been a Cinderella run last year, retiring on top of the game surely was the way to go for this longtime veteran right?

WRONG. After Osi Umenyiora suffered a season-ending knee injury even before the regular season began, the focus quickly shifted to the now retired Michael Strahan, hoping that the leader of the Giants defense will give it another shot to fill in for the injured defensive end.

Michael StrahanWill Michael Strahan actually give it another go? The Giants know how important defense was in their Super Bowl title run last season. And those guys know too that the most important piece in that defense is the 36-year-old retired Giant.

Strahan’s agent, Tony Agnone, still doesn’t know if his client will actually give it another shot. Let’s hope Strahan doesn’t do any of those stuff Brett Favre has put us through this offseason.

‘’They want to see if there is any interest there,'’ agent Tony Agnone said. ‘’I have to talk to Michael.'’

And since Agnone also represents the injured Umenyiora…

Big Week 1 in the 2008 NCAA College Football Season

By: J.J. Jack

We are only days away from football season people.

The 2008 NCAA college football season begins on August 28, Thursday, as the brand new college football year kicks off with a massive 14-game schedule. Yep, it has been a while since we had football and the NCAA is kicking it off with a bang.

There are three exciting games that you should not miss next week, beginning with the 23rd seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons visiting the Baylor Bears to mark the start of this year’s wars on the college gridiron.

Last season proved that the South Carolina Gamecocks2006 success the Wake Forest Demon Deacons put together was no fluke and that the program will continue to be a contender in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Sure, the success was not as substantial but still, with the Demon Deacons putting together a nine-win season, they were able to hang in there atop the Atlantic division race.

With a host of defensive players returning and a majority of the skill players on offense, head coach Jim Grobe will look to take the next big step this year. ‘’We’ve been in the position before where we’ve come into August without a very good feel about our starters,'’ coach Jim…

Did China cheated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgSure, China won the most gold medals in the recently concluded Olympics but not without controversy.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics have finally concluded with China becoming the winningnest country among the competing nations in Beijing. And although the United States won the most overall medals, China won where it counts and that’s the race for gold.

Team China won 51 gold medals, the most among all the competing nations in the Olympics. However, there seems to be questions that need some answers about China’s gold-winning gymnastics team that can put their dominance of the Olympics in question.

China Olympic Gymnastics TeamAge falsification has been a problem in gymnastics since the 1980s after the minimum age was raised from 14 to 15 to protect young athletes from serious injuries. In 1997, the minimum age was raised to 16, and that minimum age limit is still being used today.

And although younger gymnasts are more prone to injuries, they are still considered to have an advantage because they are more flexible and are likely to have an easier time doing the…

Can Roger Federer get back on top in 2008 U.S. Open?

By: J.J. Jack

He was once unbeatable.

But after losing in the last two Grand Slam finals in tennis, Federer found himself no longer the man to beat. The 2008 U.S. Open Championships is finally here and Federer will definitely look for redemption BIG TIME.

Of course, this is probably the perfect time to score a win over Roger Federer too. After dominating the tennis courts for all these years, father time may have finally caught up with the former world no.1.

For a guy who was once seen as the man to surpass the record set by Pete Sampras of 14 major titles, watching him lose two straight Grand Slam final matches was unthinkable.

Roger FedererHe was dominating the sport for FOUR FREAKIN’ YEARS people, that includes winning three Grand Slams in three of the four previous years, but after he relinquished his world no.1 spot to clay court king Rafael Nadal, have we seen the last of Federer’s glory days?

Federer and Nadal have been going at it for years with Federer winning everything other than that one single tournament on clay. When Nadal finally beat Federer for a Grand Slam OTHER than clay, that being the 2008 Wimbledon Championships a few months ago…

My NFL Fantasy Team for the 2008-09 NFL Football Season (Well, I’m hoping to draft them anyway…)

By: Syndicate

Hopefully, this’ll improve my fantasy ranking. Hee hee…

You read it, the 2008-09 NFL football season is here and that means it’s time to build your fantasy teams that’ll probably earn you the right to talk smack all week long, provided you won your fantasy match-ups over the weekend of course.

So, who you gonna’ choose? Here’s my own version of a dream NFL fantasy team and if you were fortunate enough to draft these guys under one roster, it’s either you’re one lucky guy or you’re the league commissioner. (Wink! Wink!)

Let’s start off with the QB LaDainian Tomlinsonposition. There are a lot of great quarterbacks in the game right now but if you’re looking for solid fantasy points on a consistent basis, Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning is your man.

Sure, he may not have 30+ fantasy point games like Tom Brady or Drew Brees can have from time to time but you can be rest assured that you’ll have solid production from this guy every single week.

Manning holds NFL records for consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing and the most total seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing in a career. Manning is also second on the list for highest career passer rating, THAT means, he’s more likely to come up with a…

How is Brett Favre doing with the New York Jets?

By: J.J. Jack

Lost. That’s for sure.

After all, any dude from Wisconsin will feel lost in a city like New York City. But since Brett Favre will start to salvage what’s left of his NFL career playing for the city that never sleeps in the coming 2008-09 NFL football season, this is probably the first and last time we’ll make fun of him.

Because hey, we like Brett Favre and you can bet your ass we’ll love to see the guy succeed on his latest venture. Heck, as long as this dude suits up, it doesn’t matter anymore if he’s 50 or 60 and plays like a jackass, he’s one of the best athletes of our time and just like any legend of the game, we want his show to move on as long as it can.

And while the Green Bay Packers look like they have finally moved on since trading away the biggest star of their franchise to New York, it’s still uncertain what did the Jets actually got from arguably the biggest deal of the offseason.

The New York Jets need a solid effort from the quarterback position and by landing Brett Favre, they’re hoping to have just that. But is Favre ready? Can he still overcome father time?

One guy in the Jets roster rooting for Favre to succeed is his teammate from Green Bay, New York Jets tight end Bubba Franks. Franks is more than happy to reunite with Favre in New York. He knows what no.4 can do and he is looking forward to catch some footballs from that…

Tom Brady, just how serious is your foot injury?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFor some reason, Tom Brady and his foot can’t seem to cooperate as one cohesive unit.

You read it, as the 2008-09 NFL football season draws near, Tom Brady continues to have problems with his foot, dating as far back as Super Bowl XLII when his then undefeated Patriots lost to the New York Giants after Brady was seen in New York wearing a ‘’special boot'’ of some sort.

And while Tom Brady continues to deny that this is the same injury that led to his New England Patriots losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl, we can’t help but to think otherwise. After all, it is on the same leg.

For now, Tom Brady is trying to be smart about his latest injury, resting his injured leg until the regular season, where it counts, officially starts.

‘’Just trying to be smart,'’ Brady said after skipping the trip to Tampa Bay for Sunday night’s 27-10 loss to the Buccaneers. ‘’The preseason is important, but I think the idea is to be ready for when the regular season kicks off.'’

‘’I'm doing good, doing good, just wishing I could have been out there last night. I’ll try to get treatment this week. I’m feeling better every day.'’

‘’Training camp is very physically demanding. There’s some things that…
