Yes, after last Sunday night’s win over the Eagles, you should be aware of that by now.
After ten weeks into the 2008-09 NFL football season, the New York Giants are running away from the competition with a remarkable 8-1 record. The 9-0 Titans are the only team better at this point but since the Titans are not playing within the NFC East, arguably the best division not only in pro football but professional sports, I would have to attest that the Giants are the team to beat.
The New York Giants showed just how dominant they can be last Sunday night when they went up against their NFC East rivals, Philadelphia Eagles. And although the final score of 36-31 was too close for comfort, the Giants were still the more dominant team since the 31 points the Eagles put up was more of the Giants’ doing than the birds.’
The Giants let the Philadelphia Eagles score the first touchdown of the game, thanks to an early turnover New York committed. The Giants then scored the next 17 points to stay ahead of the Eagles after the first quarter.
New York then let the Eagles find their way back into the game, thanks to a fumble committed by Brandon Jacobs before finally shutting the door closed on Philadelphia in the final stages of the contest.
If it wasn’t for New York’s costly turnovers, they could’ve won this one handily. But since they were playing an NFC East rival, and…

And with the 141-point lead this guy has, I’ll be REALLY surprised if he doesn’t have the title at the end of the weekend.
A commanding 141-point lead, that’s what Jimmie Johnson is enjoying coming to the grand finale of the 2008 NASCAR Chase for the Cup this Sunday at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
With that big of a lead, Jimmie Johnson only needs to finish 36th or better to win his third straight NASCAR title. Sure, it ain’t over ’til it’s over but the fact of the matter is, MATHEMATICALLY speaking, it already is.
The only driver probably still in contention
for the title is Carl Edwards. However, even if Edwards were to win and lead the most laps on Sunday, Edwards will still need Johnson to take himself out of the race to engineer a shocker.
The ten-race ‘’Chase to the Championship'’ is all about consistency, and Jimmie Johnson, once again, showed that no one is better. In the nine races leading up to this weekend’s race, Johnson has three wins, six top 5’s, and eight top 10’s for an average finish of 4.7. That is how you seal the deal people. While Carl Edwards has been impressive as well, he would have had to be nearly perfect to take the hardware away from Johnson.
Johnson will now become only the second driver to win three…

Talk about jumping the gun this year eh?
The new 2008-09 NCAA college basketball season has only begun and here we are giving you our picks on who will win the national championship already. And in case you haven’t guessed, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that our picks ACTUALLY earn you a couple of bucks.
The favorite to win it all this year is the University of North Carolina Tar Heels with 6-1 odds. Unlike many of the other top teams, it appears UNC will not be affected by the mass defections to the NBA back in the offseason.
Forward Tyler Hansbrough (18.4 ppg), guard Wayne Ellington (11.7 ppg) and guard
Ty Lawson (10.2 ppg) are all returning. And yes, you better watch out for these guys to lead UNC to the top again.
Right behind the Tar Heels are the Memphis Tigers at 8-1. Derrick Rose may have been the first pick in the NBA draft, but that does not mean Memphis will be lacking in talent.
Memphis is still absolutely loaded this season and primed to improve on their Elite Eight stint of last year. Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier are senior leaders on a team that definitely needs senior leadership. With some young talent waiting to make their mark, the Tigers can make another championship run
Other traditional powers who hope to bring down the favorites, includes UNC’s…

Yes, Cincinnati. Thankfully, these guys aren’t as bad as their professional counterparts.
The Cincinnati Bearcats have cracked the Top 25 for the first time this 2008 NCAA college football season, thanks to back-to-back victories over ranked opponents, including a thrilling overtime win last weekend.
The Cincinnati Bearcats, now ranked No.22 in the nation, look to protect their ranking and continue their push for their first Big East title when they visit the Louisville Cardinals on Friday night, hoping to snap a five-game losing streak to the high-flying Cards.’
The Bearcats (7-2, 3-1) gave up the final
23 points in its 40-16 loss to Connecticut in its second conference game of the season last Oct. 25, a finish that didn’t seem to bode well for the Bearcats as they entered the toughest stretch of their schedule. Thankfully, Cincinnati responded with consecutive wins over ranked Big East rivals, defeating then No.24 South Florida 24-10 on Oct.30 before edging then No.20 West Virginia 26-23 in overtime last Saturday.
The Bearcats are definitely contenders, having pulled into a three-way tie for first place in the conference with West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Cincinnati will be challenged by the Louisville Cardinals (5-4, 1-3), a team that has struggled in recent weeks but has been dominant in their series with Cincinnati lately.
Louisville has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the former…

It’s Week 11 in the NFL and in case you haven’t felt it yet, the playoffs are just around the corner.
Week 11 of the 2008-09 NFL football season starts this Thursday night as teams continue to jockey for position with the playoffs only less than two months away. And after ten weeks into the season, we learned that the Titans continue to surprise themselves, the Bills continue to disappoint their fans, the Giants like to toy with their prey and an old fart like Kurt Warner could be the MVP at the end of the year.
Crazy huh? Guess what, it only gets crazier because Week 11 starts with the New England Patriots. What has been crazy about this team is the fact that they have been able to stay on top of their division playing without starting quarterback Tom Brady and starting running back Laurence Maroney. They have Brett Favre and the surging New York Jets this Thursday night and since the Jets are tied with the Pats for the AFC East lead, this Eric Mangini - Bill Belichick rivalry will resume with the division lead at stake.
The 6-3 New England Patriots earned a key division win Sunday, controlling the clock for nearly 38 minutes and outgaining Buffalo 370-168 en route to a 20-10 victory. Matt Cassel continued to show improvement as Tom Brady’s replacement, completing 23 of 34 passes for 234 yards and running for a touchdown for the second straight week for head coach Bill Belichick. The New York Jets, also at 6-3, have virtually no time to bask in the most-lopsided victory in their history, as they take the field again four days after a 47-3 drubbing of St. Louis. This game against their bitter rivals promises to be much tougher, especially with the winner taking sole possession of the division lead. Of course…

Because they desperately need him back too.
The city of Detroit was excited the moment that Allen Iverson moved there from Denver. Instantaneously, Piston fans were thinking about a title reign at the end of the 2008-09 NBA basketball season.
But after a somewhat slow start nobody probably expected at the beginning of the ‘’Allen Iverson era,'’ it was clear that the Detroit Pistons need more than just an Iverson to get going again.
After the Denver Nuggets waived Antonio McDyess, the guy they got with the Iverson deal along with Chauncey Billups
and some other guy we don’t care to find out who, the Pistons will probably have the veteran back with them again in about a month.
Dice has made it public that he doesn’t want to play for any other team but the Detroit Pistons and since the Denver Nuggets has been doing fantastic lately with Billups controlling the offense, they figured they can afford to let a guy who has no intentions of playing for them go.
You read it, the first step of McDyess’ eventual return to Detroit began when the Nuggets made it official that they have waived him. Dice accepted a contract buyout from the Nuggets worth about…

Yes, the championship is probably determined already.
The 2008 NASCAR Chase for the Nextel Cup is probably over after Jimmie Johnson trounced the field at the Phoenix International Raceway to inch closer to his record-tying third straight NASCAR title.
You read it, Jimmie Johnson, now with 6561 championship points, is on his way for yet another world championship. With the commanding 141-point lead over Carl Edwards, Johnson needs only to finish 36th or better to win it all.
It seems all the changes Jimmie Johnson and his team made worked. Johnson
led a race-high 217 of the 313 laps to stretch his lead over Carl Edwards in the standings from 106 to the commanding 141-point barrier.
‘’He’s doing something pretty special,'’ 2004 champion Kurt Busch said after finishing second. ‘’It’s just tough to beat.'’
Jimmie Johnson was coming into the Phoenix International Raceway on the verge of losing his grip of the title after a rather disappointing 15th place finish in Texas. Thankfully, he rebounded perfectly from…

It seems the problems just keep on piling up for the Spurs these days huh?
The Spurs have somewhat a slow start to the 2008-09 NBA basketball season. They have lost four of their last five games with their only win coming from a thrilling double overtime 129-125 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Yes, the San Antonio Spurs were at a dismal 0-3 stand then coming to Minnesota and Tony Parker had no plans of losing his fourth straight game. How bad did he wanted that win? He scored a career-high 55 points, including a 20-footer at the buzzer to force a second overtime.
Thanks to the young Frenchman,
the Spurs were able to have their first win of the season under their belt but now that the guy who made that possible is now out for a month because of a sprained left ankle, the Spurs would have to look elsewhere for some much needed help.
With Tony Parker out for a month, the Spurs will either have rookie George Hill or 12-year veteran Jacque Vaughn replacing him at the point. Too bad huh? Parker was second to LeBron James in scoring, averaging 27.4 points per game this season and this injury only adds even more problems to…

He’s running his mouth about them Cowboys too.
After all the hype that has surrounded the Cowboys before the start of the 2008-09 NFL football season, America’s team has lost two of their last three games and are sitting at the very bottom of the NFC East.
That probably has something to do with the absence of franchise quarterback Tony Romo, who sat out the team’s last three games with a broken pinkie. Veteran Brad Johnson tried to fill in but only managed to give the Cowboys a single win in the three games that he started behind center.
Was Romo’s injury the reason why the Dallas Cowboys have been
losing lately? From a casual fan’s standpoint, that’s probably stating the obvious. But as far as T.O. is concerned, the Cowboys’ troubles didn’t start with a broken pinkie on a hotshot quarterback.
And while Terrell Owens probably still continues to complain about the limited touches he’s been having on the field, the controversial wideout said that their team’s troubles didn’t start with Romo’s injury but as early as the first month of the season, when the Washington Redskins handed them their very first loss. They went on to lose three of their next four games afterwards.
‘’I think the loss to Washington made a lot of people…'’

Yes, big ones.
After nine games played into the 2008-09 NFL football season, the Cleveland Browns are right behind the 1-8 Bengals for the title ‘’worst team in the AFC North'’ with the dismal 3-6 stand they have put up this year.
Yes, the Cleveland Browns wasted the momentum they were able to have at the end of last season that made virtual unknown Derek Anderson into a bonafide Pro Bowler after firing nothing but blanks in this campaign.
Last Thursday, the Browns looked good offensively for the first time in weeks against a tough Denver Broncos team that’s currently having
their fair share of problems as of late. They were leading 23-13 in the fourth and final quarter and it looked like the Browns were on their way to their fourth win of the season.
Unfortunately for the Browns, for some reason, they just gave up, giving up 21 fourth quarter points to the Denver Broncos, letting Mike Shanahan’s team stay on top of the AFC West. That gave Cleveland the miserable 3-6 mark and at this point, they can’t do shit but admit that they just gave up last Thursday night, right there on their own field.
‘’When you have a team like that that comes into our…'’
