So there was this ONE condition that convinced the FOTA to not quit F1 and make amends with the FIA

By: Syndicate

Yes, there was one. They wanted to get current FIA president Max Mosley out of a job.

Just when you thought the 2009 F1 season will finally be just about what matters most, ACTUAL RACING, it turns out that Max Mosley, currently seated as the president of F1’s governing body, the FIA, is under pressure to stand for re-election.

You read it. Following the FOTA’s threats of quitting F1 to come up with a breakaway championship series that will rival the FIA, they now want FIA president Max Mosley to stand for re-election hoping that they’d finally have a new guy seated on arguably the most powerful spot in motor racing.

Max MosleyOf course, Mosley doesn’t want any part of it. In fact, he so pissed that he’s condemning FOTA for ‘’dancing on his grave.'’

‘’They made the mistake of dancing on my grave before I was buried. It’s no good the teams getting a PR agency to claim I am dead and buried when I am standing here as large as life,'’ Max Mosley said.

‘’I am under pressure now from all over the world to stand for re-election.'’

‘’I don’t actually want to. I feel I am a little bit too old. When I started I was old enough to…'’

Can Roger Federer advance to the Wimbledon Final?

By: J.J. Jack

Yep, it’s almost over and we reckon this dude with the biggest chin in tennis will have something to do with the tournament’s conclusion.

The final of the most grandiose grand slam tournament in tennis is near, and while we already know it’ll be an all - Williams final in the women’s division of the 2009 Wimbledon Championships, we still have no idea who’ll come out from the men’s side of things.

With defending champion Rafael Nadal out of the tournament due to his injury, five-time Wimbledon winner and world no.2 Roger Federer has a chance to resume his reign on top of tennis.

Roger FedererThe win at Roland Garros was not only Federer’s first ever French Open crown, but it made Federer only the sixth person in history to win all four Grand Slam titles. Moreover, Federer’s all-time best record of 14 Grand Slam titles, which equaled Pete Sampras’, means that victory at Wimbledon would set a new tennis record and prove Roger Federer’s status as the most successful player in history, if not the greatest.

And in Wednesday’s quarterfinal match, Roger Federer neutralized Ivo Karlovic’s huge serves Wednesday to reach the Wimbledon semifinals and move a step closer to a record 15th Grand Slam championship.

Federer conjured up a few great returns to break…

What’s a better way to celebrate the 4th of July than by betting all your money on a hot dog eating contest?

By: Syndicate

Happy 4th of July people.

Yes, it’s that time of the year again when the proud U - S - of - A celebrate its day of independence. And while some of the more patriotic Americans wave their little flags and light up a firecracker or two on the 4th of July weekend, some will watch two men make a fool of themselves by eating a butt-load of hot dogs while they bet on it as if it was the freakin’ Super Bowl.

Since everybody was so into this entire thing last year, (you have ESPN to blame for that…) Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi will once again try to find out who loves ‘em hot dogs the most in the now 94th Annual Nathan’s Hot dog Eating Contest.

Joey Chestnut and Takeru KobayashiThis eating contest has become a tradition in New York, gaining international exposure and impressive spectator numbers with 30,000 people showing up to watch the entire thing last year. And with the popularity, the sports betting world has taken notice and bettors look forward to having a little fun with it this year and basically every other year as well.

Online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.COM is offering up a number of prop bets and wagering options for the event, with some very cool betting offers. As you might expect, most of the betting focus surrounds the rivalry between the two top contestants (the only two people who have won the competition the past eight years) Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi.

As it stands, Joey Chestnut is listed as the…

UFC comes to Philadelphia with UFC 101: Declaration

By: J.J. Jack

You read it, the City of Brotherly Love, for the first time ever, will feel just how intense the ‘’brotherly love'’ inside the Octagon really is.

Yep, UFC 101: Declaration will be bringing Philadelphia its first taste of the UFC on August 8 at the Wachovia Center. And since this will be the first time Dana White will be bringing his sport on this part of the Eastern time zone, they’re bringing the big guns with them.

Highlighting the event will be the BJ Penn - Kenny Florian UFC Lightweight Championship as Penn defends his title for the second time against Florian, the number one contender.

UFC 101: DeclarationWithout a shadow of a doubt, UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn is the undisputed king of the division. At 35-5-1, Penn is practically on everyone’s list of best fighters in the world, pound for pound.

And I’m assuming Manny ‘’The Pacman'’ Pacquiao is NOT INCLUDED in any of these lists. (And it should be…)

Penn is undefeated at 155 pounds since 2002, beating the likes of Jens Pulver, Joe Stevenson and Sean Sherk in successive contests. Thanks to a humbling loss to Georges St-Pierre when Penn challenged GSP for his Welterweight title, Penn was shunned back to the Lightweight division much to the dismay of other fighters in the weight class.

And since BJ Penn has been simply unstoppable as a…

The FIA and the FOTA are finally at peace, that means no breakaway series after the 2009 F1 Season

By: Syndicate

Everything is fine and dandy in the world of Formula One again.

It turns out that after weeks and weeks of controversy, the FIA and the FOTA have finally agreed on something this 2009 F1 season. For those of you who didn’t know, the FOTA threatened to quit F1 and form some sort of a breakaway championship series after the FIA’s new budget cap guidelines were proposed for next season. After a series of deliberation, the two finally kissed and makeup.

You read it, the sport’s governing body, the FIA, and the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) are finally in agreement. FIA President Max Mosley confirmed that a cost-cutting deal has been agreed upon by the two bodies, ending the threat of a breakaway series.

Bernie Ecclestone‘’There will be no split. We have agreed to a reduction of costs,'’ Max Mosley said. ‘’There will be one F1 Championship, but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early ’90s within two years.'’

The FIA and the FOTA finally agreeing on something is excellent news to F1. After all, it was THAT CLOSE from losing all eight of its biggest names. Ferrari, McLaren, BMW Sauber, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and this year’s big dawgs, Brawn GP, were all threatening to quit F1 and leave the championship to little critters like Force India.

Mosley knows Ferrari is already a huge draw to…

Manny Pacquiao has a Death Wish, wants Miguel Cotto

By: J.J. Jack

Apparently, the guy wants to die now.

After scoring yet another fluke victory, this time over Manchester native Rick Hatton, Manny ‘’the Pacman'’ Pacquiao asked Bob Arum to go get his next opponent. This time, he wants the reigning WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto, the same guy who just successfully defended his title belt against Joshua Clottey a few days ago.

You read it. It turns out that Manny Pacquiao wants to schedule a fight with Miguel Cotto as soon as possible. After all, Pacquiao knows that the guy just came off a brutal war against Clottey and since the WBO welterweight champ suffered a bad cut on his left eyebrow, Pacquiao knows nursing that will eat a few weeks from the guy’s training, giving the third world moron an edge.

Miguel Cotto‘’Manny told me what to do,'’ Bob Arum said. ‘’Manny told me, ‘Go ahead, make that fight.’ So it will go Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand here in Vegas.'’

Yes, they even have a date set already. And if this Manny Pacquiao - Miguel Cotto fight is indeed officially set on November 14, that’ll give Cotto less than five months to recuperate from his fight with Joshua Clottey, nurse that badly cut left eyebrow and prepare for the biggest joke in boxing.

Not the ideal set of circumstances that can be considered fair. But hey, this is Manny Pacquiao, and for a guy who tells his people to put aging fighters past their prime in front of him, what do you expect?

When asked if Arum will consider rescheduling the fight to…

Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, 2009 NBA Champions

By: J.J. Jack

Kobe is the shit. (People still enamored with guys retired from the NBA years ago should repeat that to themselves a hundred more times…)

Any arguments that claim Kobe Bryant ain’t the best ever yet should now be over the moment he successfully led the Los Angeles Lakers to their 15th NBA championship. He has done it all now. He already has his MVP award including a brand new NBA Finals MVP trophy to go with the four NBA championship rings he won with the Lakers. And since he still has that freakish 81-point game to boot, yes, Kobe is the shit.

Kobe, the best closer in the game, finally won his fourth NBA championship ring, his first one as Tinseltown’s premiere star, when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Orlando Magic, 99-86, in Game 5 to clinch the title in five games.

Los Angeles LakersThe Orlando Magic really had no chance against this Lakers team already salivating of getting the title back to L.A. as early as last year. You see, when the Boston Celtics ended their season back in Game 6 of the 2008 NBA Finals in Boston, the Lakers made sure they will make the most out of another trip to the NBA Finals. Well, it didn’t take them long for them to play for the title again and unfortunately for the Magic, they were just standing on the Lakers’ way, waiting to be roadkill.

There’s no question that Kobe Bryant has now done it all, establishing himself as the best baller not only of our generation but of all time. I mean, who else could’ve pulled off what this guy has done the last few years? He went from…

The 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series continues with the Lifelock 400 at the Michigan International Speedway

By: Syndicate

It’s this Sunday too.

Race 15 of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be held this weekend June 14th at the Michigan International Speedway, for the LifeLock 400.

The Michigan International Speedway is a two-mile intermediate D-Shaped track, and is often referred to as one of NASCAR’s many ‘’cookie-cutter'’ tracks. This D- shaped oval will be the home for the finest drivers in the world this Sunday and you can bet that each of these guys will be gunning for the win.

First off is Tony Stewart, who is coming his first win as an owner-driver. He has literally smoked the competition in recent weeks with 2043 total points. With Hendrick Motorsports equipment below him, Stewart is leading the points and entering his favorite time of the year, summer. Summer is Stewart’s season, and is when things typically get on a role for the two-time champion.

Jeff GordonThis year, however, Stewart has hit his stride already, and could easily knock off a few wins between now and September, when the Chase starts. Stewart’s record is one win, nine top fives, 13 top 10s, and an average finish of 12.5 at MIS. In NASCAR’s Loop Data, Stewart has an Average Running Position of 14.6 (10th-best), a Driver Rating of 94.5 (eighth-best), 52 Fastest Laps Run (11th-most), 570 Green Flag Passes (seventh-most), an Average Green Flag Speed of 173.455 MPH (sixth-fastest), and 1,024 Laps in the Top 15 (66.7 percent, seventh-most).

He is closely followed by Jeff Gordon at second with 1972 total driver points. Gordon, who will drive a specially painted No.24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet this weekend, has ‘’only'’ two wins at MIS. But he has run well at the…

Kimbo Slice to Enter Boxing and Kill Manny Pacquiao

By: J.J. Jack

As much as I would love to see that, Kimbo won’t be having that opportunity… YET.

Unless of course, Manny Pacquiao decides he has what it takes to go toe to toe with the heavyweights. And while Kimbo Slice hasn’t really made his transition from MMA to boxing official, when he does, Pacquiao better watch out.

In case you didn’t know, Internet sensation Kimbo Slice has been contemplating on making the move from mixed martial arts to boxing after failing to come up with a deal with Strikeforce, the group who obtained an option to purchase his contract from Pro Elite.

Kimbo SliceAccording to Slice’s manager Mike Imber, Strikeforce wanted his client to fight for less money.

‘’They wanted us to fight for less,'’ Mike Imber said. ‘’I wouldn’t say dramatically [less], but there were just a lot of moving parts in the contract. Once you start moving one, they all kind of got moved around. It just didn’t work out, I guess.'’

Kimbo Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, was released on May 13. Since then, he and his people have been weighing their options on what to do next. That probably includes a stint with the WWE.

‘’I can’t give you any updates right now, but when I do you’re going to be very impressed and shocked,'’ Imber said. ‘’I can tell you his MMA career is far from over. We have a bunch of other options, Japan and others. Now that we’re…'’

Hot and Sexy Maria Sharapova in the 2009 French Open

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgShe’s back.

In case you didn’t notice, the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova returned to the Grand Slam stage on Court 1 at the French Open last Monday. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel like she was back to her lofty standards, as one might expect after shoulder surgery in October and only four singles matches in the past 10 months.

The 64th-ranked Anastasiya Yakimova of Belarus is not the sort of opponent who would normally trouble a Maria Sharapova at the top of her game, but since the sexy Russian ain’t there just yet, there was trouble as early as Day 1 of the 2009 French Open at Roland Garros.

Hot and Sexy Maria SharapovaThankfully, Maria Sharapova’s first match at a major tournament in nearly a year ended with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Yakimova. However, it will take more than that performance for Sharapova to erase the uncertainty that comes with such a long layoff.

‘’This is the first time in my career where I can really say I don’t have any expectations,'’ three-time major champion Maria Sharapova said. ‘’I don’t know how things are going to work out. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, how my shoulder is going to feel.'’

Because of her time away, Sharapova is ranked…
