Muckducks. Not a very intimidating handle inside an online poker room eh?

Tell that to the players who lost to him at Event no.1 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. Full Tilt’s Online Poker Series always brings in thousands of players eager to take home a chunk of the guaranteed prize money. Event no.1 with a $200 + $16 buy-in was no exception as the $1 Million guaranteed prize pool attracted 6,275 players. 738 players ended up in the money in the tournament where the prize pool escalated to $1.255 million.

Emerging at the top of a fiercely contested battle was Canadian player ”muckducks” who walked away with $216,512.60 after beating a relentless American who goes by the name ‘’sticky seat.”

Full Tilt PokerThe chip lead was lost and regained by muckducks several times in heads up play. Luckily for muckducks, it just wasn’t sticky seat’s day as the American ended up losing two crucial hands during heads-up play.

In one of the hands, muckducks was all-in with pocket 7s and was called by sticky seat holding pocket queens. Unfortuntely for sticky seat, a 7 hit the river giving him a terrible beat and muckducks a huge chip lead.

During the last hand, sticky seat raised pre-flop and was re-raised by muckducks who pushed All-In. Sticky seat called and was ahead with his As-Kc versus muckducks’ Jd-Td. Unfortunately for sticky seat, it was muckducks’ day when the flop hit 8d-9c-Qc, giving muckducks the nut straight.

For his gallant effort, sticky seat won $137,147 for…

Online Poker Room DoylesRoom opens to Americans

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWe have no idea why they haven’t thought of this sooner.

Then again, we probably won’t give a rat’s ass anyway. But just two week ago, online poker site DoylesRoom announced that something was brewing and that they were working on something really special.

Finally, the poker site has formally announced that it has moved to the Cake Poker Network and as a result, American players can start playing in the highly popular online poker site again.

Doylesroom was forced to enforce the ban on American players when it was part of the MicroGaming Network. Due to strict poker legislation, Microgaming Network decided that it could no longer justify accepting new player registrations. Doyle BrunsonDoylesroom, since it was part of the network, had no choice but to stop accepting American poker players since last November.

Now that Doylesroom has moved to the Cake Poker Network, U.S. players can rejoice. To add to the festivities, Doylesroom is hosting a $5,000 freeroll this Saturday at 5pm EST. On February 1 during the same time slot, the poker site will host a $100,000-guaranteed tournament for the much reduced price of $162.

Already a regular player at Doylesroom? Don’t worry because your rights are protected. Your current balance will transfer to the Cake Poker Network seamlessly. Furthermore, you will keep the ”loyalty points” you have so carefully accumulated…

Vanessa Rousso gives to Charity through Poker

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgHow can she do that? Well, to become champion of a poker tournament solely dedicated for charity, that’s how.

It was a star-studded single-table tournament but this time, no one was playing for extra money in their bankrolls. PokerStars.com Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Tournament of Champions invited APPT winners to come back and compete against each other for their respective charities. In the end, it was Vanessa Rousso who came out on top after she beat APPT Sydney champion Martin Rowe in heads-up play. As a result of her win, Rousso’s charity, the No Limit No Profit Initiative, gets a huge windfall.

Other players who played in the event included 2007 APPT Macau High Rollers champion Eric Assadourian (Samuel Morris Foundation), 2005 WSOP Main Event Champion Joe Hachem (Shane Warne Foundation), 2008 APPT Manila champion Van Marcus (Child Fun), 2008 APPT Auckland winner Daniel Craker, Vanessa RoussoAPPT Sydney champion Martin Rowe (Save the Children), Lee Nelson (CanTeen of New Zealand) and 2008 APPT Macau champ Eddy Sabat (The Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California).

Of course, one can’t really expect cutthroat action during a charity game. The levels were short and the atmosphere was friendly, a far cry from the APPT games, that’s for sure. Daniel Craker was the first one out when eventual winner, that’s Vanessa Rousso, hit a straight on the river with her pocket 7s.

Martin Rowe then proceeded to pick out opponents…
