After his thing with Rosie O’Donnell, Donald Trump challenges Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 23

By: Syndicate

Yep, we’ve been seeing ‘’Da Donald'’ a lot lately huh?

Just when you thought the whole ‘’Donald Trump vs Rosie O’Donnell shit'’ was… well… the shit, Donald Trump apparently is now challenging sports entertainment icon and owner of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Vincent Kennedy McMahon to a match at WrestleMania 23.

Now, we wouldn’t be writing about pro wrestling matches here in OddJack on a regular basis (not yet anyway…) but this little match between Vinnie Mac and Da Donald sure deserves the mention.

Hell, it’s not everyday you’ll see trump_mcmahon.jpgtwo rich old farts, both having ridiculous haircuts, settling their differences inside a WWE ring.

AND YEAH… Speaking of those two ridiculous haircuts, Donald Trump challenged Vince McMahon in one episode of the WWE’s flagship brand, Monday Night RAW, to a hair vs. hair match.

For all ya’ll unfamiliar with pro wrestling language, a hair vs. hair match is a wrestling match with a stipulation wherein the loser gets his hair shaved bald right there in the ring.

Yep, we will definitely see either…

Can David Coulthard be the Raging Bull for Red Bull Racing in the new Formula One Season?

By: Syndicate

David Coulthard sure feels like it, and if Red Bull falls flat on their asses once again, it won’t be his fault.

That’s what he’s saying anyway. Well, not exactly but it sure sounds like it. ‘’We have to achieve more, otherwise people will have to be replaced,'’ said the feisty Scotland driver, David Coulthard.

David Coulthard is one of the best drivers in the history of F1 racing. But the David Coulthard we see now is nowhere in comparison to the David Coulthard we saw back in the day, when he was this cocky apprentice to the legendary Mika Hakkinen, both driving then for McLaren Mercedes.

raging_bull.jpgBack in those days, Coulthard was learning from one of the, if not the best, in the business. As Mika Hakkinen were going toe to toe with Ferrari and their German ace driver, Michael Schumacher (without a shadow of a doubt, the best years of Formula One racing…) David Coulthard was patiently waiting, waiting for his turn to take the mantle Mika will leave for him.

When Mika Hakkinen finally called it quits, David Coulthard resumed McLaren’s classic rivalry with Ferrari. Coulthard made life difficult for Schumi for a while but the legendary Ferrari star was simply more experienced and…

Will NBA stay in Las Vegas after the NBA All Star Game?

By: J.J. Jack

What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas right?

Well, what if the NBA All Star Game happens in Las Vegas, will it stay there? Can we see a professional NBA basketball team from Las Vegas after hosting it’s first NBA All Star weekend? Hmm… this year’s hosts sure hope so.

February 18 is the NBA All Star game, following NBA All Star Saturday that will feature the three-point shootout and the slam dunk contest just to name a few. Oh yeah, it’s shaping up to be one heckuva’ weekend all right.

lasvegas_girls.jpgAn event as big as this, the city of Las Vegas definitely wants its own NBA Basketball team now. However, sending a team to Las Vegas would require NBA commissioner David Stern to change his stance on gambling. He was quite clear on the subject last year, ‘’We are not going to go there while they have betting on NBA games.'’

Uh oh… As far as I know, Las Vegas and betting is like milk and cookies, bread and butter, panties and… well, you get the idea.

‘’I guess all I’d say is that we’ve been having these discussions now for somewhere over 20 years,'’ NBA Commissioner David Stern said. ‘’But on the other hand, our owners are the ones that ultimately…'’

Too much Asahi Super Dry beer for new Boston Red Sox Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka?

By: Syndicate

Yep, it seems this guy is having too much beer lately.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has yet to throw his very first curve ball for the Boston Red Sox and yet, he has already raised a couple of eyebrows within the organization. Apparently, this guy is downing too much beer lately, and the Red Sox organization watched him drinking all them beers on TV.

A slick commercial for Asahi ‘’Super'’ Dry beer features Boston’s new Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka donning a Red Sox jersey and throwing in full uniform in front of a simulated frenzied throng.

daisuke_matsuzaka.jpgIn between those shots, the same Daisuke Matsuzaka, in street clothes, is shown first taking a couple of gulps from a large glass of beer. After a quick cut, the shot returns to Matsuzaka downing the beer and, with foam on his lips, smiling and sighing contentedly.

Nice. But we all saw that with the ‘’Got Milk?'’ campaign already… ANYWAY…

Sports athletes drinking beer in TV advertisements is normal in Japan, but in the United States, it’s a big NO NO. In the United States, beer can’t be consumed in TV ads and Major League Baseball (MLB) teams does not allow any of its players endorsing any kind of…

Americans Invade English Premier League Soccer. Football

By: Neo

The English Premier League seems to be welcoming an American invasion that is strengthening its own foundation but weakening its fan base.

Premiership giants Liverpool have agreed to an offer from American tycoons George Gillette and Tom Hicks to buy the club.

A statement was made to the Stock Exchange stating they have agreed the terms “of a recommended cash offer” to be made by Kop Football Limited, the American pair’s bid vehicle. The statement read: “The offer is £5,000 in cash for each Liverpool Share, valuing the issued share capital of Liverpool at approximately £174.1million.”

The takeover means Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa will all be in American hands. Malcolm Glazer, owner of American football’s (NFL) American tycoons buy Premiership club LiverpoolTampa Bay Buccaneers, owns United and Randy Lerner, owner of NFL’s Cleveland Browns, bought Aston Villa last year.

A seemingly unnoticed contingent of American club owners is slowly but surely forming a solid foundation in the EPL. Real standouts, blockbuster buyouts, and plenty of European media recognition. They now exist; and are growing stronger.

In Liverpool, there are probably a lot of people asking this question: “If we’re going to be bought by a Yank, why can’t it be the owner of the Yankees?”

Gillette and Hicks could scarcely have set their sights much higher, but delivering their promise of world domination may take some doing for…

The City of Indianapolis going for more Super Bowl after Super Bowl XLI at Miami, Florida

By: Syndicate

2011 is the year and the city of Indy wants to host Super Bowl XLV.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay started the city’s bid for the 2011 Super Bowl with a whopping $1 million pledge to the fundraising effort. The said pledge, announced at the Indiana Convention Center, immediately includes $200,000 to fund Indy’s application to NFL owners.

Mayor Bart Peterson and Gov. Mitch Daniels told a crowd of business leaders and political supporters about the economic benefits of bringing as estimated 98,000 visitors to the city.

They cited a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers that the event would mean an estimated $262 million in economic impact to the Indianapolis region. Business leaders said the Super Bowl’s ripple effects, as well as the good publicity, would be unmeasurable.

Indianapolis mayor, Bart Peterson, said that the offer to donate the first $1 million by the Indianapolis Colts owner is unprecedented. As of press time, other cities competing for Super Bowl XLV includes Dallas and Arizona.

The location of the 2011 Super Bowl will probably be decided this May when owners will vote on it at their spring meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Before Indianapolis makes any moves for the huge 2011 game…

Heck, even Hooters is Gearing Up for Super Bowl XLI

By: J.J. Jack

I guess virtually EVERYBODY is ready for Super Bowl XLI now eh?

Officials from each camp have announced that their sports gaming kiosks are now on the gaming floor of the Hooters hotel to offer bettors faster and more convenient ways to place wagers on the Chicago Bears or the Indianapolis Colts.

A photo of Michelle Nunes, hooters_girl.jpgMs. Hooters International, displayed on two orange iSports Stands along with a blackjack dealer at the Hooters Casino Hotel are the first specifically designed kiosks in Las Vegas.

Make Money in High-Paying Jobs You Never Knew

By: picaresque

You won’t believe who is earning more money than you thought.

Oprah and Bill Gates, surely. Actors, too, once they’ve become stars; and ordinary people, often, once they’ve joined a reality TV show. But also, you’ll be surprised at high salaries attached to professions you mostly assume don’t pay all that well.

Job: Astronomer. Salary: $101,360 annual average. Just ask Britney Spears‘ manager and Lindsay Lohan’s publicist: as suspected, you can make a fortune by watching the stars. The job of an astronomer is that of a researcher-reporter, except his field of study is the celestial universe, plus the stars in his care hardly behave like primadonnas.

Job: School principal. Salary: $82,225 annual average (high school). Oprah was well-informed to have once given away her ‘favorite things’ to teachers, whose humble salaries are about $40,000 a year. It’s a different lesson, though, with school principals, whose job it is to be the school supervisor, encompassing the administrative, strategic, and psychosocial concerns of student life.

Job: Executive coach. Salary: $350 to $1,000+ hourly average; $70,000 to $100,000 base pay + bonuses if employed by company in-house. If life coaches offer life advice, executive coaches provide managers and CEOs with professional counsel like next career moves. More all-around than a shrink, they can even tip you on where’s a better gym to vent work anxieties out.

Job: Court reporter. Salary: $56,110 annual average; six figures when including freelance jobs. A court reporter functions as a documentor, recording legal proceedings into written transcripts. Given how one word in a hearing can send the accused to…

The Richest Female Hollywood Celebrities in the Entertainment Industry according to Forbes Magazine

By: Syndicate

Okay okay, we are about a week and a couple of days away from Super Bowl XLI so for the meantime, let’s talk about something else.

How about female celebrities? Let’s do one better, how about the richest female celebrities in the entertainment industry. Okay, now that my cheap way of introducing this one is finally over, let’s go on with it then.

Oprah Winfrey. Surprise surprise, Oprah wins the no.1 slot as far as richest female celebrities are concerned. From a poor and raped little girl in rural Mississippi, this (as J.J. Jack puts it) mutated freak is now the richest woman in Hollywood. Heck, she’s the ONLY black female billionaire.

mariah_carey.jpgYes, she has more money than Missy Elliot.

In the late 1980s, following the debut of her super-successful syndicated talk show, Oprah earned $2 million a year. Today, she pockets an estimated $225 million annually from TV and other endeavors.

Next in our list, we have that irritating singer, Celine Dion. As much as we like to see Kate Winslet wet, Celine Dion’s singing just destroys the moment. Well, as annoying as she sounds when she screams, she’s rich. Filthy too. The Canadian chanteuse’s exclusive five-year gig at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas has vaulted her into Forbes’ list of richest female celebrities and until people continues to buy albums of her screaming…

Big Pimpin’ at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show

By: J.J. Jack

Yep, Busta Rhymes and all that ‘’Pimp My Ride'’ crap ain’t got shit on this one.

The 2007 Detroit Auto Show featured high-end rides from Lexus, BMW, Cadillac and Rolls-Royce. Yep, no Honda Civics or broken down Toyotas here. Adding to an already fantastic lineup, the show also featured futuristic prototypes from Acura, Jaguar (eww…), Lexus (again?), Mercedes and Volvo (boring…).

A Chinese car did made the event, just like last year when the same Chinese ride made its first-ever appearance in an event that virtually laughs at these scrap metal from Hyundai, Daewoo and (god…) Daihatsu.

batmobile_show.jpgThe Geely CK is what Chinese automaker Changfeng is calling their ride. Changfeng’s display at this year’s show is just as big a deal because it shows remarkable development. The Geely was an oddity; the Changfeng stand, with five small SUVs and pickups, is significant.

However, the highlight of the show was perhaps those kick-ass futuristic hybrids. Take General Motors for example, the company was kind enough to include the new Rolls convertible and a stunning, sophisticated propulsion system of the future that General Motors is…
