16-yr old minor wins slot jackpot; mother allowed to keep cash

By: Neo

When a Hong Kong teenager walked into a casino in the Chinese territory of Macau, chaperoned by her mother and grandmother, she can have had little idea of the riches that awaited her - nor of the legal storm that her winnings would generate.

Yes, this 16-year-old unknown girl won a $94,900 jackpot at a Macau casino, and her mother was allowed to keep the cash.

Macau’s gaming watchdog forced The Las Vegas Sands to Casino told to fork over jackpot won by minor pay the $94,900-winning teenager because of a loophole. Macau’s gaming laws ban anyone under 18 from entering a casino, but the laws do not specify a minimum age for gambling once inside.

The young girl, whose name has not been released, was given $12 by her grandmother as a Lunar New Year present to play on some slot machines. The teenager went to the Sands Casino with her mother and grandmother and put the entire amount in a machine. When she hit the jackpot, Sands staff refused to pay her out once they learned she was underage.

However, the territory’s gaming authority has ruled that the Las Vegas Sands must pay the teenager from Hong Kong her winnings. “We have decided that the money must be paid, not to the child, but to her mother,” Gambling Authority Director Manuel Joaquim das Neves told the South China Morning Post.

Although she will be paid, the girl’s mother has been banned from all Macau’s casinos as punishment for bringing a minor into a casino.

That’s okay, Mom can always come to Bodog’s Online Casino, as long as she leaves the kids at home!

Golden Nugget Casino Intros New Vegas Players

When Landry’s Restaurants of Texas dining joined Golden Nugget of Vegas gaming, who took the bigger gamble?

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino has been a gold standard of Downtown Las Vegas casino gaming long before it changed hands to Landry’s, a super name in restaurants but perhaps less so in casinos. It swings both ways, and the Houston-based new owners tackled no lesser odds when it acquired in 2005 its first Las Vegas casino hotel.

Gauging the changes made to Golden Nugget Casino ever since Landry’s joined in, the mutual gamble is paying off. A major upgrade to casino amenities, locations and capacities, and services is gaining points not only for the hotel casino but also for all gaming in Fremont Street and Downtown.

Golden Nugget Las Vegas received a total of 29 awards in the Strictly Slots ‘Best of…’ 2006, and 14 of these were to its casino gaming, including Best Overall Hotel Casino and Best Overall Casino in the downtown categories. Out of 28 awards from the Casino Players ‘Best of…’ 2006, 16 were on casino gaming, including Best Overall Hotel Casino and Luckiest Casino in the downtown categories.

Casino. The 38000 sqft Golden Nugget Casino is treated to an elegant makeover this year. Retiring the gilded latticework that had dominated the ceilings, the renovated and updated casino floor is now garbed in rich woods and lush carpeting that makes for a classier ambience. With the enhanced overall layout, players need not have to pass through a maize of over 60 gaming tables and other gaming areas to…

Michael Jordan could be Dunking on Slot Machines soon

By: J.J. Jack

Yep, ‘’His Airness,'’ Michael Jordan could be taking on an entirely different world folks.

Michael Jordan, being the filthy rich retired NBA Basketball icon that he is, could now become an investor in a slot machine parlor in Philadelphia. At least that’s what the state gambling regulators were told.

Regulators on Wednesday concluded three days of hearings on applications by five groups, professional casino operators with politically connected or celebrity investment partners, hoping to open slots casinos in Philadelphia. Jordan’s became the latest celebrity name to be dropped by applicants competing for licenses in what dunkin_jordan.jpgcould be the nation’s largest city with stand alone casinos.

Of course, knowing Jordan’s ventures outside the NBA Basketball courts, we need not be excited yet. We all know he can’t ‘’fly,'’ if you will, without an NBA Basketball uniform on.

He sucked as a baseball player when he retired from the NBA for the first time, (he retired three times) he sucked as a team owner of the Washington Wizards when he drafted Kwame Brown, and it looks like he’ll suck as the team owner of the Charlotte Bobcats too.

The two licenses up for grabs in Philadelphia would allow the owners to install up to 5,000 slot machines in each of their proposed gambling halls. The state has not legalized table games.

Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. testified…

For Smokers who Play Video Poker and Slots

The Clean Indoor Air Act bullshit just had one absolute solution.

Yep, apparently, slot machine bars and convenience store owners are hoping to defeat the almighty ‘’Clean Indoor Air Act’’ crap. The Clean Indoor Air Act would ban smoking (for obvious reasons…) in almost every goddamn indoor public area EXCEPT for casino floors.

Now, convenience stores that offer gambling and slot machines (and doesn’t have anything that can be called a casino floor whatsoever, by the way…) had a slight glimmer of hope. They’re hoping that the Clean Indoor Air Act would be blown away by another bill, dubbed, ‘’Responsibly Protect Nevadans from Secondhand Smoke Act.’’

The ‘’Responsibly Protect Nevadans from Secondhand Smoke Act’’ would restrict smoking in restaurants to adult-only areas. And yeah, the bill will ALLOW smoking in slot machine zones, even if they’re on convenience and grocery stores.

Nice bill eh?

Well, some Nevadans doesn’t think so. Some people who hail from the great state of Nevada are baffled why the state has allowed these ‘’mini casinos‘’ in convenience stores in the first place.

Although I personally think that these people, probably new residents, should just shut the fuck up and accept the state’s somewhat peculiar traditions. After all, this IS Nevada and this IS the ‘’Nevada Way.’’

Well, Nevada Way or not, these guys think that grocery stores with…

Stardust Las Vegas Casino Goes Dark on Halloween

By: picaresque

November first. Day of the Dead in Mexico, death day at Stardust Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

This is the day some observe All Souls’ Day, others, Día de los Muertos. In Las Vegas, it is the day Stardust sees its dreariest, gloomiest Halloween: the calendar date when the casino hotel, after operating for close to 60 years, is scheduled to stop taking all reservations, carrying on with prior commitments until imploded early next year. Stardust is ghost-like from here; it’s the beginning of the end.

Was that name doomed from the start? What games of chance will be lost to us, now that owner Boyd Gaming is gambling away this Las Vegas institution in favor of a new $4 billion megaresort befitting the Strip?

stardust.jpgBustling and spread out across the ground floor, Stardust Casino is no doubt the highest-traffic area at the hotel. Other than convention spaces bringing equally steady business, the gaming spaces teem with the most customers. People saunter nonstop on the red carpet, and you wonder how, within 85,000 sqft; the new Echelon Place replacing Stardust will offer a 140,000 sqft casino.

A thing of note about Stardust Casino is, many say, its gamblers look more Downtown than Strip. As far back as I can remember, the most I see here are over-45 geezers…

Slots of excitement and millions by playing Las Vegas slots

By: Neo

Slot-machines are the most popular form of entertainment in today’s casinos.

They are more profitable than any other casino department. Perhaps, that’s why they are called slots.

For years, they have been the way of entertainment for wives whose husbands played “real” games such as Black Jack and Poker. Nowadays, everybody plays slots, the elderly, the young, the poor and the reach, male and female.

Play Slots in Las Vegas!Slots are so extremely popular because they are very easy to play. You just insert a counter and press a button (if you don’t feel like pulling a metal handle). “Jack Pot” winnings are often very high, sometimes it is possible to win up to $1 million or more. Minimum stakes on slots-machines differ, depending on a machine. In Las Vegas you can play slots for $1 or $1000 and it is just one pull of a metal handle.

Slots can also change the life of a normal person.

In Las Vegas on 29th May 2002 Johanna Heundl, a pensioner, decided to spend $3 on a slot-machine before breakfast, on her 74th birthday, … winning $22.6 million! It was the third highest winnings in the history of slot-machines. The highest winnings were $34.9 million, won by a waitress from Las Vegas in January 2000, in…
