The FIA and the FOTA are finally at peace, that means no breakaway series after the 2009 F1 Season

By: Syndicate

Everything is fine and dandy in the world of Formula One again.

It turns out that after weeks and weeks of controversy, the FIA and the FOTA have finally agreed on something this 2009 F1 season. For those of you who didn’t know, the FOTA threatened to quit F1 and form some sort of a breakaway championship series after the FIA’s new budget cap guidelines were proposed for next season. After a series of deliberation, the two finally kissed and makeup.

You read it, the sport’s governing body, the FIA, and the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) are finally in agreement. FIA President Max Mosley confirmed that a cost-cutting deal has been agreed upon by the two bodies, ending the threat of a breakaway series.

Bernie Ecclestone‘’There will be no split. We have agreed to a reduction of costs,'’ Max Mosley said. ‘’There will be one F1 Championship, but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early ’90s within two years.'’

The FIA and the FOTA finally agreeing on something is excellent news to F1. After all, it was THAT CLOSE from losing all eight of its biggest names. Ferrari, McLaren, BMW Sauber, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and this year’s big dawgs, Brawn GP, were all threatening to quit F1 and leave the championship to little critters like Force India.

Mosley knows Ferrari is already a huge draw to…

FIA Boss Max Mosley says the FOTA just wants to take over F1 once the 2009 F1 Season is done

By: Syndicate

It looks like even with the threat of a breakaway championship series from eight F1 teams, Mosley ain’t giving in to their demands.

For all of you who have no idea what’s the latest buzz around the 2009 F1 season, eight F1 teams that represent the FOTA have threatened to form a breakaway championship series that will rival the FIA and their beloved F1 championship.

This is after FIA president Max Mosley made it public that he will be slapping a budget cap on the sport that should help make Formula One become an even playing field for all the teams, big or small, next season. Of course, bigger clubs like Ferrari and McLaren do not like the idea one bit and, together with Renault, Brawn GP, BMW Sauber, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Toyota, threatened to quit Formula One and form their own series.

Max MosleyMosley came up with his own threat as well, threatening to engineer ‘’a £1 billion legal war'’ against the eight ‘’rebel teams'’ threatening to form their own thing and savaged their motivation in declining to sign up for the 2010 season.

‘’Nobody wants to start legal action,'’ FIA President Max Mosley said. ‘’But my job is to look after the interests of the FIA. You can’t go around interfering with contracts. But I don’t take the threat of the breakaway as seriously as some people do because I know that it is all posturing.'’

‘’It’s in the interests of the teams to be in…'’

Will FOTA compete with the FIA in Formula One?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgApparently, we now have two bodies capable of producing a competitive championship series.

In case you didn’t know, news broke out this 2009 F1 season that some constructors from FOTA are threatening to branch away from Formula One and compete with the FIA.

Not everybody were happy with the FIA’s new budget cap ruling and the top constructors of the sport like Ferrari and McLaren have threatened to quit F1 because of it. STILL, Mario Theissen, head honcho of BMW, insists that FOTA would rather find a solution to the ongoing political war than start their own breakaway series.

Max MosleyWe have nine teams who are not so giddy about the FIA’s new ruling; that’s Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota, Renault, BMW Sauber, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso, Brawn GP and Force India.

FIA President Max Mosley fanned the flames by insisting if the nine ‘rebel’ teams were not happy with the rules for 2010 as they stand, they can form their own championship. He had no idea the teams will take it seriously.

The nine ‘rebel’ teams submitted a conditional block entry, confirming they will sign up to F1 through to 2012, but with two concessions. The nine stated…

Who will win the 2009 F1 British Grand Prix?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgI reckon it’ll be the guy driving the green car again.

The best teams and drivers in single-seater motor racing have a new set of regulations to contend with before the 2009 F1 British Grand Prix lights up Silverstone this Sunday.

Expect a slightly different order of merit to that which we’ve become used to of late. With new regulations designed to increase the racing spectacle even higher from the past two classic seasons, which have thrown up some real surprises and incredible races, expect fireworks on this most challenging of tracks.

Jenson Button can take another step towards the Formula 1 world championship with a win at Silverstone. Jenson ButtonHis Brawn GP team also enjoys a healthy lead in the constructors’ championship.

Button leads the drivers’ rankings with 61 points ahead of his teammate Rubens Barrichello with 35 points. Sebastian Vettel is third with 29 followed by Mark Webber, Jarno Trulli, and Timo Glock.

In the constructors’ championship race, Brawn GP leads with 96 points after Button took his sixth victory in the seventh race of the season in Turkey. Button winning the Turkish GP was his fourth win in a row.

The British Grand Prix has produced some classic races over the years. In 1957 Stirling Moss won at Aintree in a Vanwall, the first time a…

Jenson Button vows to win the 2009 F1 British GP

By: J.J. Jack

Well, sort of.

Jenson Button, the guy who leads the drivers championship race in the 2009 F1 season, promises to put on a show at Silverstone for his growing army of fans.

With a 26-point advantage following six wins in seven races, Jenson Button is now the heavy favorite to win the F1 world championship coming to the 2009 F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone on June 21.

Button’s compatriot, Lewis Hamilton, won at Silverstone last year on his way to winning the world championship and Button is on course of emulating him. Hamilton already told reporters that his money was on Button taking the title but the Brawn driver refused to take anything for granted.

Jenson Button‘’You are sort of putting a bit of negative energy in there and saying it’s mine to lose,'’ Jenson Button said when asked about people saying he has it in the bag. ‘’I wouldn’t put it like that.'’

Brawn GP owner Ross Brawn helped Michael Schumacher win the first five races of the 2004 season as the Ferrari technical director when the German’s teammate was Brazilian Rubens Barrichello. Brawn is in exactly the same situation with Button who happens to be teammates this year with Barrichello.

Brawn said Button was showing some of the same…

Lewis Hamilton’s reign as F1 champion is over

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWith only nine points to show for after seven races, you just know it’s over.

Yes, Lewis Hamilton will be relinquishing the title of F1 world champion once the 2009 F1 season is over. You see, with only nine points in seven races, there’s no way in hell the guy would be able to catch up to Jenson Button, the guy who is primed to become champion for the first time in his F1 career.

And apparently, McLaren boss Martin Whitemarsh agrees. The guy has written off any chance of Lewis Hamilton defending his world title after his young ace driver suffered his third straight POINTLESS race in Turkey.

Lewis Hamilton‘’I think you have to say that Jenson looks in good shape, and I am sure he deserves it,'’ McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh said. ‘’He has had years of really struggling in the dark and now he is doing a fantastic job, he is in a competitive car and I have to say that he looks like he is going to be the world champion. I think he is doing a fantastic job.'’

‘’With regards to us, then we have to make sure that we are strong next year. We have to make sure that the way in which we approach next year is that we apply adequate resource.'’

As to why they’ve been struggling so much…

Rubens Barrichello, pissed off at Brawn GP teammate Jenson Button (Probably because he’s losing a lot…)

By: Syndicate

Ladies and gentlemen, dissension within Brawn GP is about to begin.

Yup, it turns out that success can really get into people’s heads, in this case, Brawn GP. In case you have not been watching the 2009 F1 season, Brawn GP is quickly becoming a force to be reckon with, taking the spotlight away from Ferrari, McLaren and basically everybody else.

That’s all thanks to Jenson Button. Of course, their new diffuser technology has a lot to do with it as well… Button, thanks to Brawn’s diffuser, has won six of the season’s first seven races. The only race he didn’t win was in China, where he finished third fastest.

Rubens BarrichelloWith the way Brawn GP has been dominating the season, they almost have the constructors’ title in the bag. Brawn GP leads the race for the constructors’ title with 96 championship points. Their closest competitor is Red Bull, with 56.5 points.

With the dominant year Brawn GP has been having, you would think that everything’s fine and dandy within their camp right? Wrong. You see, not everybody’s happy with the way this season has been going so far. And while Jenson Button has been hogging all the spotlight, Rubens Barrichello has been hating every minute of it.

You read it, Rubens Barrichello ain’t happy…

F1 Boss Max Mosley is a Hard Ass (He says you can find out how hard it is too, along with Ferrari and Renault…)

By: Syndicate

After the 29th of May, F1 teams will find out just how hard Mosley’s ass is.

And no, we’re not implying on the guy’s new sex video scandal. In case you’ve been living under a rock, controversy has once again surrounded this little motorsport that we love so much this 2009 F1 Season after Max Mosley decided to enforce a budget cap for 2010.

Of course, wealthier teams like Ferrari and Renault have already voiced out their displeasure towards the move, saying that they will quit Formula One if the FIA still refuses to find a compromise.

Max MosleyMax Mosley, on the other hand, has another, and simpler solution, sign up with the new program or risk being replaced. Yes, it looks like Mosley is not giving in to the threats some of the premier F1 teams are making.

‘’I think that we will probably get anywhere between three and six teams by the deadline, depending,'’ FIA President Max Mosley said. ‘’After that they become a late entry and if there is a space they can take it, and if there isn’t space they cannot.'’

‘’I'm not sure it will drag on that long, because if you put yourself in their position, they have to make up their minds what they…'’

The 2009 F1 Monaco Grand Prix is set this Sunday

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAnd since this is the most grandiose event in the F1 calendar, let’s hope Monaco will bring back some class to what has been controversial year.

To say that the 2009 F1 season has been a colorful one could be an understatement. From the sport’s world champion, Lewis Hamilton, becoming nothing more but a lying bastard to Ferrari threatening to quit F1 because of their disapproval to this new budget cap FIA boss Max Mosley is trying to enforce, it sure has been an interesting season in Formula One.

Still, amidst all the controversies, the season has to go on and the season will go on with the 2009 F1 Monaco Grand Prix this Sunday. Jenson Button has been running away with the rest of the pack, winning four of the first five races. The only time he didn’t finished first was in China, where he finished third.

Lewis HamiltonYup, Jenson Button has been enjoying this diffuser technology that Ross Brawn has slapped on his car. But can he dominate a track where overtaking is just impossible? Let’s find out.

The annual dash through Monaco’s tortuous streets is a unique test of man and machine performed in front of the glamorous backdrop of the Monaco harbor. The 3.340km (2.075mile) street track requires the cars to run with maximum aerodynamic downforce and the proximity of the barriers makes the 78-lap race one of the most mentally demanding races for the drivers, despite the average lap speed of 160kph (100mph) being the one of the slowest of the year.

In the Monaco Grand Prix, the cars are far wider than…

Ferrari quitting at the end of the 2009 F1 Season?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgLooks like the Italians were dead serious of quitting Formula One.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, the FIA proposed a budget cap this 2009 F1 season that will limit some wealthier teams from spending their somewhat limitless resources just to stay ahead of everybody else.

Yup, FIA president Max Mosley felt it was unfair for competition that rich teams like Ferrari can spend as much as they want to spend just to get that advantage from the rest of the field. Putting a budget ceiling will limit it and as expected, Ferrari do not like it one bit.

FerrariNow I don’t know what’s more frustrating for Ferrari, spend all that money this season only to play second fiddle to the likes of Brawn GP, Red Bull and Toyota or being refrained from spending said money next season to guarantee themselves that they’d still be playing second fiddle to the likes of Brawn GP, Red Bull and Toyota.

And when Ferrari heard Max Mosley say that F1 can survive without Ferrari, things have really gone from bad to worse.

In a short statement released by Ferrari, arguably the sport’s most famous entity, they will not be on the grid in 2010. ‘’We confirm our opposition to the new technical regulations adopted by the FIA and do not intend entering our cars in the 2010 F1 Championship,'’ the statement read.

A report from Ferrari’s board meeting reads…
