With the price of gasoline these days, Coulthard’s idea not only aims to help F1, but to conserve oil supply as well.
It is probably the fuel fire in Hungary in the 2008 F1 season that gave the retiring David Coulthard this idea. And that idea is banning refuelling in pit stops during races.
According to David Coulthard, putting a stop to refuelling during races not only will help F1, it will also help drivers develop into better competitors and not just rely on how fast can his team perform in the pitlane.
‘’The spate of fuel fires in Hungary were all extinguished quickly and no one was hurt, but they did serve to remind us how potentially volatile pit stops are,'’ David Coulthard said.
‘’From my point of view a bigger drawback of refuelling is that it detracts from the racing by turning the grand prix into a series of low-fuel sprints between pit stops.'’
‘’In the days (pre-1994) when you carried your entire race fuel…'’

Yes, he STILL has plans to join Ferrari but it looks like he would have to make a pitstop (no pun intended…) with Honda first.
As we go deeper and deeper into the 2008 F1 season, we learned that double world champion Fernando Alonso is going to leave Renault (again…) to become the No.1 guy in Ferrari.
However, as it turns out, Fernando Alonso would have to join Honda first before making the move that just might reshape the entire sport of Formula One as we know it. Whether you like the guy or not, Alonso is the most successful guy in F1 since Michael Schumacher and him joining Ferrari is like Kobe Bryant joining, say… the Pistons.
Alonso’s move to Ferrari is scheduled some time in 2010. But after realizing that his current team is in no condition to compete with the top dogs of the sport, it looks like he can’t wait that long. He wants to leave Renault now and give himself a shot of winning races again. Which brings us to his move to Honda next season.
After all, both Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa are set to be retained by Ferrari anyway until Raikkonen switches to rally and Massa gets tired of blown engines. (Hee hee…)
Of course, a return to McLaren - Mercedes is highly unlikely with Lewis Hamilton now…

You don’t need a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
After 11 races into the 2008 F1 season, things certainly are not looking good for Ferrari. In just a month, we saw Ferrari drivers lose races due to mechanical issues and for an entity like Ferrari, an entity synonymous to winning, that is simply UNACCEPTABLE.
Their unreliability these days cost them too. Ferrari’s defending world champion Kimi Raikkonen is still five points behind the championship standings leader Lewis Hamilton, McLaren is slowly eating away on the lead they built at the start of the season in the constructors championship race and Ferrari’s No.2 guy Felipe Massa is just plain irritated.
In case you missed it, Felipe Massa was the latest victim of Ferrari’s unreliability. Leading by half a minute and with only three more laps to go, Massa seemed destined to win in Hungary and bag his fourth victory of the season.
After his Ferrari slowed down to a stand-still in the middle of the track, all Massa could do was put his hands up in disgust.
What people didn’t know then was the fact that we almost saw two Ferraris fail to finish in Hungary. Kimi Raikkonen, running third and focused to grab second place from Timo Glock, was advised by his team to just maintain his position and get his car to the checkered flag.
Apparently, Ferrari spotted a problem in Kimi’s car and if the defending champion continued…

That broken Brazilian is Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, and after coming THAT close to winning last Sunday, going out like that was mind-boggling.
The 2008 F1 season resumed at the Hungaroring, giving racing fans one of the most dramatic finishes of the season. Of course, racing fans like us just love drama like this, unfortunately for Felipe, there was nothing for him to do then but just curse in disgust.
Let me explain, Felipe Massa was leading the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix and was sure of winning his fourth victory of the season. All of a sudden, with only three laps to go from victory, his engine blew up in smoke, forcing him to retire from what was suppose to be his race to win.
With Felipe Massa retiring, Heikki Kovalainen, who was riding behind Massa, took the lead and eventually won his very first F1 grand prix. Sure, he was just fortunate enough to see Massa go out in smoke but hey, a win is still a win and you can bet your ass that he’s proud of it.
While Heikki Kovalainen was celebrating, Massa was playing the blame game, (surprise surprise…) insisting that he was given no warning whatsoever that his engine was about to expire.
Massa falsified the theory that he slowed down during the latter part of the…

No matter what happens from this day onwards, BMW Sauber will be calling this season a dream one.
In case you’ve been living under a rock lately, BMW Sauber has been surprising racing fans this 2008 F1 season. Collectively, they are second fastest behind Ferrari for the constructors championship.
Their drivers? Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld sit four and five respectively behind Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who is in second place, and Kimi Raikkonen, who sits third.
BMW Sauber has really proven a point this season, ultimately giving their future a brighter light to it.
After Robert Kubica secured BMW’s maiden win of the season in Canada, the Hinwil-based squad has already exceeded expectations and with still the second half of the F1 season ahead, this team is looking to surprise us even further.
‘’We are having an excellent season,'’ Kubica’s teammate Nick Heidfeld told the German media.
‘’We have already achieved three best marks: the first…'’

Hmm… Funny how losing a couple of races will do to a man’s perspective eh?
The halfway point of the 2008 F1 season is here and after a champion’s welcome Kimi Raikkonen had at the start of the season, he finds himself behind his teammate Felipe Massa for this year’s drivers championship.
That’s good for third place, in case you were wondering and after finishing in first place TWICE in the first four races of the season, Kimi Raikkonen has yet to step on top of the podium again.
McLaren - Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers championship standings with 58 points, followed by Massa who has 54 and then Kimi with 51.
Many thought Raikkonen will still be the man in Ferrari after the championship season he just had. However, during the last few races, we saw Felipe Massa somewhat dethrone him for Ferrari’s main seat, leading Kimi where he is right now at this point of the season.
Leaning towards retirement.
You read it, rumors began to come out that Kimi Raikkonen will leave…

A shark fin, apparently, that’s the answer Ferrari has come up with to solve their problems.
We are at the halfway point of the 2008 F1 season and after all the hype that has surrounded Ferrari’s main man and defending F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, it died down a bit with Kimi sitting in third place for the drivers championship.
Although Ferrari is not doing bad at all when it comes to the race for the constructors championship, Kimi Raikkonen failing to win the top of the podium lately has become more of a concern for the Italian team.
The last time Kimi saw the top was during the first four races of the season, when he scored two first place finishes in Malaysia and Spain for Ferrari. His next six, however, were races he’d rather forget. Although he did saw the podium in Turkey and France, finishing third and second respectively, his last six were races he relinquished his lead for the championship to the guy he’d probably least like to have it.
Lewis Hamilton.
As of this writing, Hamilton leads the drivers championship standings with 58 points followed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who has 54. Raikkonen, despite…

Another fast-paced weekend is upon us.
You read it, the 2008 F1 season resumes in Budapest as the top F1 drivers in the world compete to win the latest war on the race track, the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
This year’s race in Budapest should be an interesting one with the somewhat tight race for the drivers chapionship. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is leading the drivers championship standings with 58 points, closely followed by two Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen with 54 and 51 points respectively.
Hamilton, after ending the most recent races of the season with first place finishes, should be the favorite to win the 2008 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
With Hamilton’s last two stellar performances, there is no doubt that he will win his third straight formula one race and further extend his lead over Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. The Hungarian GP is the 11th race of the season with seven more to go. The Budapest race consists of 70 laps with the circuit length of 3.81 KM covering a total distance of 306.663 KM.
The last two races here have been won by British drivers, with…

Why remember a guy who is already retired?
Well, aside from the fact that he may be bigger than Brett Favre in the racing world, Schumi is the last guy to ever win at Hockenheim, where the best drivers this 2008 F1 season will reconvene this Sunday for this year’s German Grand Prix.
Yes, Michael Schumacher is the last guy to win here at Hockenheim back in 2006. Last year’s race in Germany was held at the Nurburgring circuit where Fernando Alonso came out on top. Well, the guy’s with Renault now and is in no condition whatsoever to win ANYTHING. Unfortunately.
As far as Michael Schumacher is concerned,
yes, the German was the last Hockenheim hero in Formula One and with the 2008 F1 season making a return to the very circuit Schumi made famous, it is only fitting that we remember the six-time F1 world champion.
So why did he retired in the first place?
It has been said that Schumi called it quits when he learned that Ferrari is bringing in Kimi Raikkonen to be his teammate. Rumors came out that Schumi was scared that he might not measure up to the fiery Finn.
When Schumi was asked why he called it quits. We learned that it wasn’t because of Kimi. It was because of Felipe Massa.
‘’I stopped because I didn’t want my friend Felipe Massa to be unemployed,'’ Michael Schumacher said. ‘’I would have had no problem going up against Kimi Raikkonen.'’
Apparently, Schumi wanted to save Massa’s career with Ferrari with his…

Can he do it?
After almost winning the world championship last year, Lewis Hamilton had somewhat of a slow start to the 2008 F1 season. After winning the first race of the season in Australia, it took him five races before getting his second win of the year, his first one in Monaco.
And now that Lewis Hamilton found himself in a three-way tie for the championship after winning his home grand prix in Britain a week ago, I guess you can now say that he’s back in the championship chase.
You can bet your ass Hamilton
knows it too. The McLaren - Mercedes driver is now vowing to take the world title home to Germany in only his second year in Formula 1.
‘’I'm not going to build up your hopes but just to let you know that I’m working as hard as I can to bring the Championship home for all of us, keep your fingers crossed,'’ Hamilton said.
‘’I've been racing since I was eight years old and every Sunday before the race I always have the same nerves and I can never control it.'’
‘’I always try to come up with a formula or a way to deal with all the nerves and the race to make sure I win and it’s always…'’
