Bodog Offers Poker Mini-SOP for people who can’t afford to go to Vegas for the 2008 WSOP Tournament

By: Syndicate

And NO, Bodog is not starting to take 30-minute calls for $4.99 while you jack off like a madman.

If you are unable to cough up the cash to go to Vegas and join the 2008 World Series of Poker, here’s one way to feel like you’re a part of the action. Yes, like most of the online poker sites we have in the Internet, Bodog is chiming in with the 2008 WSOP bandwagon.

Bodog Poker has created an online poker tournament series dubbed Mini-SOP that will run at the same time as the real WSOP, event for event! The best part of this tournament is that buy-ins are equivalent to a mere 1 percent of the WSOP buy-ins.

This means that if you want to enter all 25 events, you only need $821. That’s a drop in the pond cBodog CEO Calvin Ayreompared to the thousands of dollars you need to join the 2008 WSOP tournament in Vegas.

Bodog’s Mini-SOP will run from May 30 to July 3.

On July 10, players can join the online cheapo equivalent of the Main Event where the top three players will be granted a $12,000 prize package to the 2009 World Series of Poker. The 27 players who will get to join this event will be determined by the Tournament Leader Board that will be posted on the Bodog site throughout the tournament series.

The top four leaders will automatically get a seat to the main event. Players who finish in 5th through 100th place on the leader board will be invited to join a qualifier tournament where the top 18 finishers…

Want To Practice Your Poker Skill? Go For Freerolls.

By: mullen

There are poker freerolls and there are poker freerolls.

I’ve never been one to pass up on online freerolls. And I’m not alone. Another proof of how huge online poker has become is the popularity of tournaments held in many Internet poker rooms.

People are willing to sign-up and deposit money into their online poker accounts so they could play real games, with real payouts. Plus if you’re that good (or lucky) you may even find yourself seated in a major poker tournament.

chris moneymaker and greg raymer Let’s go back to freerolls. I learn about many freeroll happenings through this poker forum that I’m subscribed to. Nice folks just keep sending me tips on where to play poker for free and try my hand at winning some, so I’m always more than happy to oblige.

PokerLessons, an online poker tutorial site for players relatively new to the game, has its own…

Calvin Ayre Watch: Bodog CEO Skips WSOP Party at the Tao

By: mullen

Usually a Bodog Party is only half complete without the presence of its CEO and founder Calvin Ayre.

But the Bodog WSOP party at the Tao Venetian in Las Vegas proved a great party can indeed happen without him. Perhaps his way of showing everyone that Bodog is a well-oiled machinery able to run smoothly even without him plastering his face all over the events all the time.

Yes, Calvin was a no-show at his own party. It’s easy to miss the dude usually sandwiched between his scantily-clad Bodog girls in all the pictures. That’s a real first and we all know the reason why.

calvin-ayre-bodog After the arrest, indictment, and termination of David Carruthers from BetOnSports all eyes are on Calvin. Is he next in line? Will he be arrested once his thousand dollar shoes touch US soil? Is he being watched by the FBI?

Wow, that’s a storyline perfect for Oceans 14.

Despite all these Calvin Ayre vs. US conspiracy theories popping up in the gambling community, Calvin shows a brave face. He insists everything Bodog does is legal within the bounds of international law.

He goes on to assure us that even if he gets arrested, Bodog operation will not cease to exist:

"It would have no impact on the Bodog operations since they are private and are structured to run without my active involvement. It would, however, have a very positive branding effect in that it would make me even more famous and would increase the profile of the Bodog brand by giving me world wide media attention and a large soap box to stand on for my messaging and I would be…'’

Embattled, jailed and incommunicado David Carruthers - erstwhile high flying and highly visble CEO of BetOnSports PLC has been dismissed, fired, "made redundant" by the Board of Directors.

Celeb Poker Babes Betting on Body Language

By: MaxCohen

For every Shannon Elizabeth or Mena Suvari seated at the poker table, there are four guys who can hardly focus, fantasizing about sex. Celebrity poker babes gain an edge without even trying because all men can think about is how to get inside their pants.

Without even trying? How much of it is innocent, poker babes distracting opponents just by being their pretty hot selves? And how much of it is deliberate, celebrity chicks actually using sexual attraction to spoil male opponents’ concentration?

Shannon Elizabeth openly admits to using her sensual looks to disconcert the opposite sex in poker. She recently told Blender magazine: “A lot of men get lost in their cards if you introduce a decent distraction.”

You’d think an admission like would make it harder for Shannon to employ this kind of poker strategy. On the other hand, us men are that stupid over women. We know when poker babes are being a tease but let them anyway, pining for a different sort of showdown, after the poker game.

Mena Suvari confirms using the same poker technique as early as when she started learning Texas Hold’em in New Orleans poker casinos. Mena says she uses her petite good looks not only to disorient the guys but to make them think she’s a weak player.

Toby Leah Bochan, who authored The Badass Girl’s Guide to Poker: All You Need to Beat the Boys, told Bodog: “You need to be willing to use whatever advantages you have as a woman. Even if you have to appear weak to win, that makes you a…'’

Bid hello to Jack Sparrow scissorhands

By: picaresque
Captain Jack Sparrow on auction? We wish. For now, we can bid on something that Johnny Depp has literally yanked in and out his hands.

Stop gushing, I’m talking about gloves. You know that pitchblack gothicky pair of gloves Johnny Depp immortalized in Edward Scissorhands? It’s up for bidding at a Hollywood memorabilia fire sale and on the eBay Internet auction site. So fans, start lining up for free picks of movie betting. (Try Bodog movie betting props for some starting funds.)

As Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp is fast becoming director Gore Verbinski’s he-muse. When Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest grossed $55.8 million on its opening day, it broke several box office records. These would be largest opening day, largest single day gross, and largest Friday gross of all time.

Of course, Johnny Depp is still fetching as director Tim Burton’s long-running he-muse. The Edward Scissorhands black gloves will open at $7,000 at the Beverly Hills auction on July 28. From another Tim Burton movie, Michael Keaton’s Batman costume will start at $40,000. Darkly fans of dark fantasy should have a ball with their free picks in movie betting; may we come wearing our own costumes?

A bidding highlight is the original matte painting from the opening scene of the Wizard of Oz. (Waste no time.) Also open for bids are John Belushi’s two-piece suit in Blues Brothers ($25,000), Dan Akroyd’s jumpsuit from Ghostbusters ($8,000), and former…

Don’t Play Fair in Online Poker

By: J.J. Jack

Don’t play fair.

That’s what you have to do to rack up those wins online. People think that for one to be successful in poker, or online poker for that matter, a combination of skill and luck is THE winning recipe for big profits in cyberspace.

I’m telling ya’ll now that THIS is not the case.

Let me tell you an example, you and your buddy are playing online poker and you, being the more experienced poker ‘’superstar'’ wondershow in the hell did your buddy, a stupid moron on the poker table, got more chips from the table than you?

The answer my friend to that very simple inquiry is this, your friend is simply colluding with another player at the ‘’virtual table.'’ By playing together as a conniving tag-team, they can grab all them ‘’virtual chips,'’ no matter how stupid they are at poker.

Simple.

There are many ways you can exploit the online environment. Collusion is just one thing.

One also needs to understand what kind of poker player you are playng against, whether…

LA Lakers go ALL IN with Online Poker Room - where’s Ben Affleck

By: MaxCohen

Poker and celebrities.

There’s something totally brand new. Yeah, we’ve never heard that one before.

Still, despite the horrifically tired ‘celeb poker’ angle, I can’t help but get gushy over the recent Los Angeles Lakers 3rd Annual Casino Night and Celebrity Poker Invitational.

For starters, the LA Lakers gods and stars who came are enough to make you wet your pants. Magic Johnson. Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Kurt Rambis. Kobe Bryant. Lamar Odom, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, Devean George, Kwame Brown, Andrew Bynum, Brian Cook, Devin Green, Jim Jackson, Aaron McKie, Ronny Turiaf, Von Wafer. And not to forget, Phil Jackson, Jeanie Buss, Linda Rambis.

And then there’s Shannon Elizabeth and Jennifer Tilly. Hot damn, now you’re really wetting your pants. Also, there’s Marcia Cross, Lacey Chabert, Annie Duke, Bai Ling, Anne Heche, Jeremy Piven, Regina King, Ricki Lake, Dean Cain, Josh Duhamel, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Rick and Kathy Hilton, Penny Marshall, Olivia Wilde, Brody Jenner, Phil Laak, Michele Merkin, David Anders, Jon Rose, Jon Kelley, Rue, et cetera.

Plus there was Paris Hilton, whom I fear just jinxed poker by recently proclaiming the game she’s newly addicted to…
