The Pennsylvania Quakers play the Yale Bulldogs in the Ivy League of the 2008 NCAA Men’s College Basketball season. The Quakers have a 5-4 record while the Yale Bulldogs follow at 4-6.

The Harvard Crimson battle the Columbia Lions in the second game. Harvard, down to a 3-7 record, tries to get a win over the 6-4 Lions. Crimson guard Jeremy Lin averages 12.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 3.4 apg, while Lions forward John Baumann averages 15.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 1.1 apg.

What we have next features a battle of colors, if you will, as the Dartmouth Big Green play the Cornell Big Red. Dartmouth tries to gain back to back wins against Cornell. Cornell has the best record in the IVY standings with a perfect 10-0 in the conference.

The question now is, can Tennessee hold on to the No.1 spot with the 2008 March Madness bracket tournament merely a few more weeks away? Of course, they’re hoping but with powerhouse teams from North Carolina and UCLA breeding down their necks, they probably know deep down inside that losing the No.1 spot to those teams is inevitable.

What’s going on with Duke lately?

After cruising through the first 23 games of the 2007-08 NCAA college basketball season with a dominant 22-1 record, the Duke Blue Devils hit a rather big speed bump. They lost two straight games, losing their last one to, of all teams, that club from the cesspool in Miami.

Yes people, the Miami Hurricanes, a team that has no business playing on a hardwood and should just stick with pigskin, actually defeated the powerhouse team of the Duke Blue Devils, giving Mike Krzyzewski back-to-back losses for the first time this season.

‘’Our team, there’s something missing this week,'’ Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. ‘’We are not the same team these last two ballgames. It’s almost like someone has come in and invaded their bodies.'’

Although watching somebody invade Mike Krzyzewski’s body is the last thing I’d like to see, the dude may have a point. In their last two games, Duke is scoring fewer points while allowing 24 more points from the opposition per contest.

With 9-2 odds to win it all this 2008 NCAA college basketball season, the Kansas Jayhawks join the UCLA Bruins as the teams to beat in the coming madness this March. That’s according to the folks who work with Sportsbetting.com.

The Kansas Jayhawks are ranked 4th in the AP Top 25 polls, while the UCLA Bruins sit at No.6 overall with a 22-3 record. Of course, we have more than enough of college hoops left until March Madness so don’t expect those rankings to remain the way it is at this point of the season.

As far as the team at the top is concerned, the Memphis Tigers still remain unbeaten with an incredible 25-0 record. But just because we’ve grown tired of unbeaten teams staying unbeaten lately, (and after the once perfect New England Patriots suffered their first loss at the Super Bowl… DAMMIT…) we’re not expecting those guys to remain perfect as well.

The score was tied, 53-53, with less than a second left to play when Georgetown’s Jonathan Wallace dribbled 70 feet from the basket. Definitely not a prime spot to win the game with Wallace a good 70 feet away from their hoop right? Apparently, it was enough as Wallace heard a whistle that startled even himself.

Duke was riding from a three-game losing streak to their hated rivals from North Carolina coming to Wednesday night’s rivalry game, the biggest so far this 2008 NCAA college basketball season.

Greg Paulus scored 18 points, leading six Duke Blue Devils who scored in double digits to help their team pull off the 89-78 win over the No.3 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels.

After finally beating their hated rivals again after three unsuccessful attempts, the Duke Blue Devils are certainly looking like the team that fits in with their storied tradition.

Yep, after we paid tribute (sort of…) to Bobby Knight getting win No.900 in college hoops, he retires from Texas Tech.

What in the world must he be thinking eh? The Red Raiders are hovering around the .500 mark this 2008 NCAA college basketball season, that’s probably why he retired because he must’ve figured out that there’s no way in hell the Red Raiders would be able to survive at March Madness. That is of course, if they make it that far.

And yes, the winningnest basketball coach in college basketball history, that’s Bobby Knight of course, stepped down from Texas Tech. All of a sudden, I’m already starting to miss the foul-mouth, chair-tossing old fart.

Bob Knight’s son, Pat Knight, will take over as head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. That’s right people, all you Red Raiders fans can already say good bye to any of your 2008 March Madness aspirations.

In case you don’t know it yet, the 2007-08 NCAA college basketball season is finally underway and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are sitting at the bottom five of the Big 12 conference.

Sure, it’s still early into the season and these Red Raiders still have a decent shot of mixing it up with the best of them in this year’s March Madness bracket tournament but before they start looking into that, they better start winning now.

The last time the Texas Tech Red Raiders were on the hardwood, they did just that. They beat the Texas A&M Aggies, 68-53, to give Texas Tech head coach Bobby Knight his 900th win of his career.

Sure, the Texas A&M Aggies never really had a chance on this one, getting their asses outscored 32-17 in the first half before the Red Raiders simply finished them off at the United Spirit Arena in Texas. But hey, it’s still the 900th win for Bobby Knight and I reckon, he’ll be going for 901 on Saturday against the Oklahoma Sooners.

In what will only add to the madness this 2007 NCAA college basketball season before the March brackets arrive, Lil’ Romeo will be shooting hoops on the NCAA college basketball hardwood and in case you’re not well informed to know who the heck Lil’ Romeo is, he’s an actor / rapper and son of the hip-hop legendary mogul Master P.

So where will Lil’ Romeo be playing hoops? Lil’ Romeo, whose real name is Percy Romeo Miller, signed national letters of intent to attend Southern California and play for the USC Trojans.

Lil’ Romeo is currently a senior guard at Beverly Hills High, averaging 13.9 points and 5.6 assists last season. And apparently, Lil’ Romeo got his love for both hoops and music from his father, Master P, who tried to get to the NBA in the 1990s, TWICE.

‘’This is the most important thing I’ve had to do and hopefully it sends a message to kids across the country that education is more important than money,'’ Lil’ Romeo said at a news conference.
