Don’t vote for LeBron James in 2007 ESPY Awards

By: J.J. Jack

On July 15, ESPN will announce their own ‘’best athlete awards'’ on TV and whatever you do, please don’t vote for LeBron James.

Obviously, I don’t like the guy one bit. Sorry LeBron fans, if Dwyane Wade was nominated in the 2007 ESPY Awards, I’d pick on him but since the sick fuck is not nominated this year, I’d just screw with my second least favorite athlete of all time. Yep, it’s LeBron.

LeBron James is one of the nominees for the ‘’best male athlete'’ category in the 2007 ESPY Awards. He’ll join the likes of golf icon Tiger Woods, tennis great Roger Federer, last season’s NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson and Super Bowl XLI champion Peyton Manning.

My vote? It’s gotta’ be Peyton Manning. Heck, he had a whopping 4,397 passing yards in the concluded 2006-07 NFL football season. He had 31 touchdowns with only nine interceptions. And to top it off, he led the Indianapolis Colts to the Super Bowl XLI title and was named Super Bowl MVP.

Unlike LeBron James who was swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2007 NBA Finals. He he…

Speaking of the San Antonio Spurs, the 2007 NBA champions are…

CBS fired the Nappy-Headed Ho Don Imus for racism

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgHe he… Okay Mr. Imus, who’s the nappy-headed ho now?

For all ya’ll who don’t know who Don Imus is, the guy is apparently one of the nation’s most prominent broadcasters, (or so they say…) and now, he got his prominent ass fired by CBS.

He he… Yep, CBS radio broadcaster Don Imus was fired after making racist remarks to the Rutgers women’s basketball team. Don Imus called the Rutgers ladies ‘’nappy-headed hos'’ and as funny as Imus’ remarks was, CBS still fired the guy.

Outrage kept growing and advertisers kept bolting out from his CBS radio show and its MSNBC simulcast, probably because of that nappy-headed ho thing. Oh yeah, Don Imus’ show was ultimately canceled Wednesday.

‘’There has been much discussion of the effect language like this has on our young people, particularly young women of color trying to make their way in this society,'’ CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves said in announcing the decision. ‘’That consideration has weighed most heavily on our minds as we made our decision.'’

Don Imus, just like the controversial Howard Stern who by the way was proven to be one goddamn liar after DNA tests proved that in fact Larry Birkhead is the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby, has a long history of inflammatory remarks.

When he started making fun of the Rutgers women’s basketball team, the same team who lost in the NCAA women’s basketball championship game, it struck a nerve. After all, they do have a class valedictorian, a future lawyer and a musical…

Gators – Buckeyes rematch for NCAA Basketball Title

By: J.J. Jack

After weeks and weeks of anticipation, the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national championship will finally be decided.

Yep, the entire field of 65 in the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament was chopped down and reduced to the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight, the Final Four and finally, to the TWO TEAMS that will compete for the biggest prize in all of college hoops.

And yep, the legendary Dick Vitale will definitely go ga-ga over this one on Monday as the Florida Gators and the Ohio State Buckeyes play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national championship in a rematch of the BCS title game.

As for me, I’m still grieving about the North Carolina Tar Heels not making it this year after a strong start in the regular season as well as in the 2007 March Madness tournament but hey, I guess there’s always next season.

Oh yeah, the final two teams that will play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title will have a highly-contested game for sure. Of course, with the remaining two teams being highly-ranked, this game will definitely be the battle of the best.

‘’We had great parity throughout the tournament and the seeds held up,'’ said Thomas O’Connor, the athletic director of the George Mason Patriots. ‘’There’s nothing magical about it. That’s what makes college basketball a fantastic game. In any given year, you have situations like what occurred last year with us, and then you have what’s happening this year.'’

So without further delay, here are the two remaining teams that will meet in the…

2007 NCAA Final Four on a collision course Saturday

By: J.J. Jack

Saturday, we’ll find out who among the 2007 NCAA Final Four will go on and play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title.

The Florida Gators, the UCLA Bruins, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Georgetown Hoyas are your 2007 NCAA Final Four. Yep, the defending NCAA College Basketball champion Gators are still around trying to defend their title.

Speaking of the Florida Gators, Joakim Noah and the rest of the crew will face the UCLA Bruins in a rematch of last year’s NCAA College Basketball national championship game. The Gators won big time then, easily dismantling the Bruins 73-57, en route to their first national title.

Yep, expect them Gators to do much of the same. He he… The UCLA Bruins can’t beat these guys and don’t expect Florida to slip with a win away from going back to the biggest stage in college hoops.

‘’The ultimate goal is to do it again,'’ Florida’s Chris Richard said. ‘’We’re one step away from the championship.'’

Florida beat UCLA last year in a rout, for its first national championship. That turned out to be the first half of a Gator Slam. When Florida beat the Ohio State Buckeyes for the national football title in January, the Gators became the first school to be champs in both sports at the same time.

Yep, the Florida Gators sure know how to win them national titles eh?

As for their BCS Championship rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for a BCS rematch with Florida only this time, it will be for the NCAA College Basketball national title. But before the Buckeyes do that, they have the tough Georgetown Hoyas in their side of the 2007 NCAA Final Four battles.

The Georgetown Hoyas already killed one giant, that being the North Carolina Tar Heels. Of course, Ohio State is a different giant to deal with, especially with a dominating giant named Greg Oden looking to have his way inside the…

2007 NCAA Final Four leaves March without the Madness

By: J.J. Jack

Yep, the Madness in March is officially gone.

Of course, with the North Carolina Tar Heels already gone and out of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament, what is there left to watch? Well, if you’re still going ga-ga over this annual college hoops spectacle, here are a couple of reasons why you shouldn’t and just wait for the next NFL Football season in September.

The MADNESS is GONE. This is the first time since 1993 that we have NCAA Final Four teams whose seeds don’t go below No.2. Yep, with top seeded teams Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes going up against No.2 seeded clubs like the UCLA Bruins and the Georgetown Hoyas, this batch of the Final Four could very well be a little more predictable than usual.

greg_oden4.jpg‘’We had great parity throughout the tournament and the seeds held up,'’ said Thomas O’Connor, the athletic director of the George Mason Patriots. ‘’There’s nothing magical about it. That’s what makes college basketball a fantastic game. In any given year, you have situations like what occurred last year with us, and then you have what’s happening this year.'’

You know, I wouldn’t normally agree with morons like this one but with no sign of the light blue North Carolina, I guess I would have to.

‘’When they seeded this thing, they hit it right on the nail,'’ Memphis Tigers head coach John Calipari said of the 10-member…

The Final Four Turtles we’ll ever see Mutate

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpg‘’Heroes in a half shell, turtle power.'’

I hope I still had that one right. Yeah, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back and being a fan of the TMNT cartoon series myself while I was growing up, watching the same four turtles in the big screen brings back old memories indeed.

All four turtles are back; Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo. And the movie begins after the defeat of their old arch nemesis, ‘’The Shredder.'’

Apparently, the four turtles have now grown apart after defeating Shredder and will have to come back together as they welcome a new threat to the world. (As if Oprah Winfrey wasn’t enough right?)

Leonardo has tmnt_movie.jpgbeen traveling around the world trying to hone his skills, Raphael has been patrolling the streets as the masked vigilante named ‘’The Nightwatcher,'’ Donatello works as an information technology consultant and probably the silliest ‘’post Shredder'’ life belongs to Michaelangelo (a personal favorite of mine…) who works in children birthday parties as a masked mascot named ‘’Cowabunga Carl.'’

Struggling to keep the family together, the turtles’ resident sensei, Splinter, realizes that strange things are starting to happen in New York. Immortal tech-industrialist Max Winters, who attempted to conquer the world three thousand years ago by amassing an army of monsters using an ancient device to open a portal during an alignment of nine stars, (wha?!?) is seemingly at work at the plot again.

In the process, he reawakens his siblings, called the ‘’Stone Generals,'’ from their sleep (the four having been recovered unknowingly by April O’Neil). Furthermore, Winters has enlisted the help of…

2007 March Madness Bracket down to the Final Four

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThese are dark days for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Yep, the top seeded North Carolina Tar Heels were unceremoniously booted out of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament by the Georgetown Hoyas. UNC led this game by TEN POINTS with SIX MINUTES remaining. What happened?

In a stunning turn of events, the Georgetown Hoyas got even for a coach Thompson and a player named Ewing. And yep, they did it against North Carolina to advance to the 2007 NCAA Final Four.

unc_hoyas.jpgThe Georgetown Hoyas, down by 11 points in the second half, rallied to force overtime before scoring 14 straight in the extra period to shock ‘’Tarheelia,'’ 96-84. And just like the old days, the Hoyas attack was led by a coach Thompson and a Patrick Ewing.

It was 1985 when coach John Thompson Jr. and the seven-foot Patrick Ewing were both becoming Hoyas legends in their era. Last Sunday, Georgetown Hoyas head coach John Thompson III was calling the shots and Patrick Ewing Jr. was making huge plays en route to the stunning upset of the…

Everybody wants Texas Longhorns star Kevin Durant

By: J.J. Jack

Kevin Durant has already taken his exit from this March Madness thing and yet EVERYBODY is still gunning for him.

Yep, Kevin Durant, the same guy who led the Texas Longhorns as far as round 2 of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament, is still hot commodity even after being booted out by the USC Trojans.

Of course, you already heard about the Boston Celtics getting their miserable asses fined $30,000 for excessive contact with the family of Texas Longhorns freshman sensation Kevin Durant. Well for those of you who haven’t…

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge sat next to Durant’s mother during the recently held Big 12 tournament. The NBA said Ainge violated rules demanding that contact be kept to a minimum between team executives and potential NBA draft picks, until college players officially declare for the draft.

Since Kevin Durant has not declared for the NBA draft yet, talking to the guy or his family is a big NO-NO. Of course, you can’t blame the Celtics for having this somewhat, ‘’illegal initiative'’ with the fucked-up season they are having.

Guess what, it’s not only Boston who wants the Texas freshman.

There are rumors that Kobe Bryant has contacted Kevin Durant in behalf of Nike. The word is, Kobe Bryant called the Texas Longhorns freshman to talk about a shoe deal ranging from $30 million to…

Here are some stories from the March Madness Bracket that the rest of NCAA Basketball witnessed

By: Syndicate

So the Elite Eight of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles are finally here. Now what?

The March Madness bracket tournament has been around for quite some time now and for those of you new to this annual spectacle of NCAA College Basketball, George Mason’s improbable march in last year’s bracket battles is perhaps the single-most significant event you’ll remember.

Aside from George Mason’s Cinderella season last year, there are quite a handful of feel-good stories the March Madness bracket brought to the table. And no, the way Tyler Hansbrough of the North Carolina Tar Heels cried like a bitch after getting popped in the nose is not one of those.

In 1983, watching Jimmy Valvano celebrate after his North Carolina State Wolfpack shock Houston was something. Sidney Lowe led the Wolfpack, letting Valvano parade around the hardwood in a strange gay-like hugging mood. Yep, it was special and somewhat scary at the same time too.

Sidney Lowe is the current mentor of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

In 1985, the Kansas Jayhawks, the same basketball program included in the ‘’big four'’ of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles, proved just how much the crowd can play in the outcome of a basketball game. Hell, they proved just how much the crowd can motivate them towards a title.

Or in this case, prove just how much a crowd in an NCAA College Basketball game piss a team off so hard, that they’ll play twice as hard just to get back at the crowd.

Larry Brown’s Kansas Jayhawks were 12-8 at one point and heard chants of ‘’NIT, NIT.'’ However, Danny Manning must not have been listening as he put the Jayhawks on his back and led them to the title. Yep, the Jayhawks sure have a lot of them success stories already before making it to the…

Tar Heels and Ducks to join Final Four Elite Eight spots

By: J.J. Jack

Here we go, the North Carolina Tar Heels will resume their march for the title as they take on the tough USC Trojans.

But before we dwell into that, the earlier game between the No.3 Oregon Ducks and the No.7 UNLV Rebels will be the Midwest regional semi finals and whoever wins this game will take on the winner of the Gators-Bulldogs match.

Yeah I know, we haven’t heard of these guys so much. Both the Oregon Ducks and the UNLV Rebels are laying low so far and one of these teams could be the darkhorse, if you will, to win it all in the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament.

unc_hansbrough.jpgIn this battle of two surprising teams, I would have to give the Ducks the edge just because they won four games straight dating back in the regular season. The Oregon Ducks are clicking at the right time and with UNLV barely beating Wisconsin during the last round, expect UNLV to finally buckle under pressure against the tough Ducks.

Yep, go ahead, pick them Ducks over the UNLV Rebels.

At 9:57 pm, the No.1 North Carolina Tar Heels take on the very team that sent Kevin Durant and the rest of the Texas Longhorns home, the No.6 USC Trojans. It’s UNC against USC baby and this one could be one of the most highly contested games so far in the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament.

Yeah yeah, these USC Trojans could be the team likely to give the Tar Heels the improbable upset. But hey, Tyler Hansbrough is still playing for UNC and this huge white boy could very well be the…
