More Problems for ‘A-Roid’ Alex Rodriguez with arthroscopic surgery putting him out for nine weeks

By: Syndicate

After news broke out that A-Rod used steroids back in his MVP season in 2003, he ended up with even more shit to deal with.

I guess the press just can’t get enough of A-Roid these days heading to the start of the 2009 MLB baseball season. With his ‘’performance enhancing'’ issues still far from over, news broke out that A-Rod will be out for six to nine weeks and will undergo arthroscopic surgery that could be the beginning of the end for New York’s prized slugger.

You see, with Alex Rodriguez missing that much heading to the season, we wouldn’t know for sure how effective he can still be. And to make matters worse, he will undergo a second operation after the season, that is if he can play through it at all.

Alex RodriguezOf course, A-Rod’s doctor, Dr. Marc Philippon, claims he’s confident the New York Yankees slugger will still be able to make a successful return once all the operations are done but with his issues about performance enhancing drugs still lingering in the corner, will the Yankees still take the bait?

Well, the Yankees don’t have much of a choice. They’re stuck with A-Rod for the next eight years since he’s only in his second of a ten-year, $275 million contract. Of course, they can just trade him or buy him out, the question is, can the Yankees afford it.

For now, they remain optimistic…

What can the returning Ken Griffey Jr. do to help the Seattle Mariners in the coming 2009 MLB Season?

By: Syndicate

You read it, he’s coming back to Seattle, hoping that he’ll be able to salvage what’s left of his career there.

Wise move since it’s in Seattle where Ken Griffey Jr. carved out a Hall of Fame career as a perennial All-Star back in the 1990s. Of course, he’s a little older and a little slower now and he might not even have that much of an impact in the coming 2009 MLB baseball season but since everybody from Seattle still loves him, making the move from Illinois to Washington was a no-brainer.

Initially, Ken Griffey Jr. was contemplating on whether he’d be signing with the Atlanta Braves, which is closer to his home in Orlando, or with Seattle. He chose Seattle and the Mariners organization couldn’t be any happier.

Ken Griffey Jr.‘’He’s coming home. I can’t begin to tell you how ecstatic we are. He is, too,'’ Seattle Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said, calling Griffey ‘’arguably one of the greatest athletes to ever play in the Seattle area.'’

‘’Ken is extremely excited to be coming back to Seattle,'’ Zduriencik added.

Ken Griffey Jr. signed a one-year contract with the Mariners that will guarantee the former All-Star $2 million. The contract also includes incentives that could bring the total value of the deal to $4.5 million.

Let’s hope it all works out for Ken…

Who else other than Alex Rodriguez have taken Steroids?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgMake that A-Roid.

And in case you’ve been living under a rock, we already had the latest bombshell about this entire steroids mess blown even before the 2009-10 MLB baseball season had the chance to kick-off with Alex Rodriguez now being questioned for steroids use back in the 2003 season.

Yes, Alex Rodriguez back in 2003, was fueled by performance-enhancing drugs when he won the AL home run title and Most Valuable Player award while playing for the Texas Rangers.

Good thing MLB baseball had no steroids Alex Rodriguezpolicies then. You see, it was only in January of 2004 when the league announced a new steroid policy which included random, off season testing and 10-day suspensions for first-time offenders, 30-days for second-time offenders, 60-days for third-time offenders, and one year for fourth-time offenders, all without pay, in an effort to curtail performance-enhancing drug use in professional baseball.

This policy strengthened baseball’s pre-existing ban on controlled substances, including steroids, which was in effect since 1991. The policy was to be reviewed in 2008, but under pressure from…

Alex Rodriguez, welcome to the MLB Steroids Club

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, in case you haven’t heard about it yet, A-Rod joins the elite few who has anabolic steroids in their system.

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, arguably baseball’s biggest superstar and the $300 million cornerstone of the Yankee franchise, tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2003. Rodriguez’ name appeared on a list of 104 players who tested positive for steroids during MLB’s survey six years ago.

THAT survey was suppose to be hush-hush, for the players to know and for us to be left in the dark with, but since some weasel ratted the New York Yankees star, now named A-Roid, out, it’s all out in the open and Rodriguez doesn’t have any choice but to take it in the ass.

Alex RodriguezOne of baseball’s most productive players and the recipient of its two most lucrative contracts, the 33-year-old Rodriguez joins Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire and other superstars whose achievements are now thrown into question because of performance-enhancing drugs.

A-Rod was the American League MVP that season with the Texas Rangers and winner of the home run title.

Several of baseball’s biggest stars have come under scrutiny since baseball’s steroid problem went public, shattering legacies and leading to criminal…

Did Alex Rodriguez got away with Steroids Use?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAh, A-Rod, once Madonna’s boy toy and the very player the Yankees rely on these days, probably got away with steroids use six years ago.

You just know that people are already anticipating for the coming 2009 MLB baseball season when they start talking about baseball as early as the conclusion of the football season.

And since talking about baseball is as synonymous as talking about anabolic steroids, it was no surprise that the early topics that come out every time baseball fans start talking about their favorite sport pertains to another dude who injected the prohibited drug on his ass.

This time, we have Alex Rodriguez, the New York Alex RodriguezYankees third baseman, a guy who once paraded around with Madonna and probably the only one who has a physique that yells ‘’steroids use.'’

Other than Barry Bonds of course.

Sources claim that Alex Rodriguez may have gotten away with the use of anabolic steroids. The New York Yankees star was tested positive for testosterone and Primobolan, an anabolic steroid, during the 2003 season when he won the AL home run title and the MVP award.

He was playing for the Texas Rangers then.

Fortunately for Alex Rodriguez, there were no penalties for a positive result then. When A-Rod was asked for comment about…

How can John Smoltz possibly help the Red Sox?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgOther than, of course, provide the ‘’veteran leadership'’ any old fart automatically is rumored to have every time they try to salvage what’s left of their careers.

For 21 seasons, John Smoltz worked for the Atlanta Braves. He started for them, he closed for them and he helped them win a World Series title. Smoltz was as synonymous with the Braves as any player with any major league team.

All that ended when he agreed to terms with the Boston Red Sox. Smoltz thought that he might stay with the Braves for his entire career and do what Tom Glavine, his former teammate, did not.

Instead, at 41, Smoltz switched teams John Smoltzand is diving into the passionate world of the Red Sox for the coming 2009 MLB baseball season. If Smoltz passes a physical, he will get a one-year contract for $5.5 million and the chance to earn about $5 million in incentives.

Because Smoltz had major shoulder surgery last June, it is impossible to know how effective he can still be. The Atlanta Braves, who were flooded with pitching injuries last year, did not want to guarantee Smoltz much more than $2 million.

The Red Sox were. Why not? He is after all a former Cy Young Award winner. Of course, they also have to be worried of his age too.

In addition to Smoltz, the Red Sox have signed outfielder…

Philadelphia Phillies win 2008 MLB World Series

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYes, the Phillies have done it and after having Game 5 postponed, it all came to a fitting end in Philly.

You read it, baseball season finally concluded with the Phillies winning the 2008 MLB World Series. In what was the longest game EVER in World Series history, since Game 5 was the first World Series game ever postponed last Tuesday, the Phillies ended their 25-year championship drought after beating the Rays, 4-3.

The Philadelphia Phillies swept all three games at home to relive 1982, the year when they won their last title before this one. The Phillies were able to go from one of the losingest team in baseball to a world champion and after 50 hours of Game 5, they can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Philadelphia PhilliesIn what has become a three-inning sprint, the Phillies jumped on the Tampa Bay Rays the moment they resumed the 6th inning after the umpires called it at the bottom of the 6th last Tuesday.

The Phillies scored to take a 3-2 lead and although the Rays managed to answer back with a run scored at the top of the 7th, Philadelphia answered right back in the very same inning, proving how determined they were in ending it in five games.

‘’It was a crazy way to win it with a suspended game but we did and it’s over and we’re very excited,'’ 45-year-old Phillies pitcher…

Game 5 of the 2008 MLB World Series was suspended with the Phillies and the Rays tied at 2-2

By: Syndicate

Delaying the inevitable. Yes, that’s how we see it.

One win away from winning the 2008 MLB World Series, Philadelphia’s celebration with this year’s title was postponed after Game 5 was suspended in the 6th inning with the game tied 2-2.

This is the first time a game in the World Series was suspended and for now, this 25-year championship drought the Philadelphia Phillies have been going through continues for at least one more night. Hopefully, it all ends this Tuesday when this game will HOPEFULLY resume with clear skies.

Unfortunately, even that possibility is being deemed as doubtful. And although Philadelphia Philliesthe Tampa Bay Rays probably don’t have anything to do with all these delays, (PROBABLY…) the Weather Channel is STILL expecting the bad weather to continue.

For now, Game 5 has tentatively been scheduled for Tuesday 8 p.m. ET.

‘’It was terrible. The field wasn’t bad, but it was the worst conditions I’ve ever played in,'’ Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria said.

‘’The infield was tough. The ball would do funny things,'’ Philadelphia Phillies second…

Can the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 to win the 2008 MLB World Series?

By: Syndicate

One win away. Can you imagine? The Phillies are only one win away from winning the World Series.

How about that huh? The Philadelphia Phillies are only one win away from winning the 2008 MLB World Series and be crowned this year’s world champions of baseball. After a 25-year championship drought, it looks like the Phillies are about to end it with a title in 2008. A win in Game 5 this Monday night will do that.

Every spring, the Philadelphia Phillies assemble in Florida to begin what would be an eight-month journey that they hope will end with them playing on the biggest stage of them all. They finally did just that and after only four games into the championship series, the Phillies are only a win away from the big one.

After routing Philadelphia Philliesthe Tampa Bay Rays last Sunday night, 10-2, in Game 4, Philadelphia has inched a step closer from winning the title. Thanks to Phillies pitcher Joe Blanton, he made sure it was to be Philly’s night before this series shifts back to Tampa.

Blanton became the first pitcher in 34 years to come up with a home run in the World Series, and when Ryan Howard followed up on his homer from the 4th inning with another one in the 8th, the Phillies were already up 10-2, looking to finish things off in Game 5 back in Tampa.

Cole Hamels will try to give the Phillies their second World Series title in franchise history when he goes up against Tampa Bay’s…

Can the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 and even the 2008 MLB World Series?

By: Syndicate

And so the Phillies draw first blood in Tampa, they now hold the early 1-0 lead and are only three wins away from winning it all.

You read it, the 2008 MLB World Series was finally underway with Philly drawing first blood after beating Tampa Bay 3-2 in Game 1 of this best-of-seven affair for the championship.

In what was already a waiting game, the Philadelphia Phillies turned it to a winning one after they managed to keep their focus and beat the Rays despite having a week away from baseball.

This puts an end to the rest vs. rust Philadelphia Philliesdebate for now. And after Game 1, it looked like neither of these were a problem for Philly. Inexperience was. And unfortunately for the Tampa Bay Rays who went from worst to first this year, inexperience was the factor in their first World Series stint.

After Philly finished off the Boston Red Sox rather quickly, many thought the rest will put the Phillies out of their game. Six days later, they ended up winning the first game of the 2008 World Series over Tampa Bay, the team many are probably rooting for after the Cinderella run they’ve been having since turning their season around earlier this…
