You can’t possibly put it simpler than that.
As the 2008 MLB baseball season enters the halfway point, teams are clamoring for any last possible move that may probably improve their roster a little bit more before Thursday’s trading deadline gets here.
And as far as the New York Yankees are concerned, they already have their eyes set on one guy that may fill the void injured sluggers Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada left.
Who is it? Since they’re missing two of the
best hitters in their team, the Yankees are planning to sign probably the best hitter in the game. I’m referring to the indicted home run king, Barry Bonds people and whether you like him or not, the combination of Bonds and the Yankees have ‘’World Series contenders'’ written all over it.
Sure, Bonds at 44 years of age can’t possibly have that big of an impact to an already established team like the Yankees. After all, it is already too late into the season to sign the former San Francisco Giants slugger anyway. But hey, Thursday’s deadline is still a few days away and ANYTHING is still possible.
Bonds in pinstripes could also mean more…

It’s this Friday people, hopefully, another season-series between these two teams will bring some excitement to what has been a boring season.
Yes, you read it, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will collide once again this 2008 MLB baseball season at Fenway Park in Boston. And although we’ve probably grown tired watching Alex Rodriguez all over the country these days, this is again something to look forward to whether you’re a baseball fan or not.
The second series between these American League East arch rivals starts on Friday from July 25 until July 27. In their previous series, both teams had a split with Boston taking the first two games with a 7-0 and 6-4 win, before the New York Yankees bounced back with 2-1 and 5-4 victories.
The Boston Red Sox, as of press time, have a 58-43 win-loss mark, good for second best behind American League East leader Tampa Bay Rays. The starting pitcher for the Red Sox on Friday will be Josh Beckett, who has a 3.98 ERA, 9-6 win-loss card. The Yankees will put in Joba Chamberlain.
The New York Yankees scheduled Andy Pettitte to be on the mound for game 2. The left handed pitcher has a 3.86 ERA and a 11-7 win-loss mark under his name. He will be match-up against the right handed Tim Wakefield of the Red Sox who has a 3.69 ERA and a 6-7 win-loss record.
In the third and final game between these two teams…

Remember Barry Bonds? Yes, he’s last season’s home run king. And yep, he is also the guy who just loves them steroids.
We are at the halfway point of the 2008 MLB baseball season and we haven’t heard of any news whatsoever in regards to Barry Bonds other than his addiction to steroids.
Until now. Bonds’ agent, Jeff Borris said Barry Bonds won’t play in the MLB this season and has given up all hope of finding his client a job. He he… Borris said he is frustrated by baseball’s lack of interest in his client after the season Bonds just had the year before.
After the San Francisco Giants let
Bonds go, the slugger instantly vanished from the league. Other than the media exposure Bonds got in regards to his steroids scandal, it seems Bonds and baseball have gone separate ways and his agent doesn’t like it one bit.
‘’I offered Barry at the minimum salary, and when I ran into a brick wall, that’s when I came to the conclusion that he will not be in a major league uniform in 2008,'’ Jeff Borris said.
‘’I'm not a negative person. I’m one of those ‘never say never’ guys. But it seems pretty clear to me that it’s just not happening. We could go up and down the rosters of every single team and I could show you an awful lot of spots where he ought to be plugged in right now, but it’s just not…'’

For now, all I can remember of the guy is the year when he made 70 home runs.
Other than that, every single time somebody talks about the guy this 2008 MLB baseball season, his steroid problems seem to become the topic of discussion. Yep, just like Clemens, Canseco and the poster boy for steroids, Barry Bonds.
Now, it looks like Mark McGwire wants to give people something else to talk about every time his name is mentioned. Rumor has it that the former St. Louis Cardinals powerhouse wants to make a comeback. You read it, McGwire wants to have baseball in his life again.
Mark McGwire is considered as
one of the most famous men in baseball history. However, he hasn’t made a public appearance at a major league ballpark in three years, has declined interview requests and passed on annual invitations to visit his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals, in spring training.
Mark McGwire, who made a record in Major League Baseball 10 years ago when he hit the single-season record of 70 home runs, had his last moment in the spotlight back in 2005 because of issues with regards to steroids use and other performance enhancing substance.
McGwire declined to admit that he is slowly returning to baseball. But…

Of course, with baseball still as boring as it is, you just know that title has sarcasm written all over it.
But still, that won’t stop baseball fans from watching the 2008 MLB All-Star Game featuring the best baseball players we have in the world today. Divided by two conferences, the National League and the American League, the best players in each conference will play against each other to determine just which division is better.
Dubbed as the 79th Midsummer Classic, this year’s All-Star game will be played at Yankee Stadium to honor the ballpark before it undergoes renovation. This is the highlight of the MLB All-Star weekend, kick started last Sunday with the XM All Star Futures Game followed by the State Farm Home Derby Monday.
Fans and managers have decided who from each conference are going to play. So who were chosen?
Starting with the National League starters, three were selected from the Chicago Cubs; C Geovany Soto, OF Alfonso Soriano and OF Kosuke Fukudome. 1B Lance Berkman of the Houston Astros will join them while 2B Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies, 3B Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves, SS Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins and OF Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers were also selected.
On the other side, the American League starters consist of four players from…

Yep, apparently, Yankees won’t be present for Monday’s Home Run Derby.
The 2008 MLB All-Star Break continues on Monday for the Home Run Derby. And while the entire baseball community continues to pay homage to Yankee Stadium, this year’s host of the All-Star festivities, before it undergoes somewhat of a rebirth, no Yankee will be able to take part in what would be the last time somebody blasts a ball out of the ballpark in an All-Star weekend.
You read it; no Alex Rodriguez, no Jason Giambi. Did I already mention A-Rod won’t be in it? A season after hitting the record books for his distinct ability to blast the ball out of the ballpark, he said no for this one.
The last time Madonna’s new boy toy participated in a Home Run Derby was back in 2002. Why hasn’t he participated since was because of the fear that he might damage his own swing for a useless waste of energy like a Derby.
So how did he damage his swing when he participated in the Derby in 2002? It was so broken that he came up with four home runs in the first four games after the All-Star break. Go figure.
That’s also the year when he went on to score 30 more home runs. Yep, that’s more than any player in the whole sport. If that’s what he calls…

Both cities are only separated by a border, on Friday one will try to outplay the other.
The three game season series between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays start Friday night at the Roger Centre as the 2008 MLB baseball season resumes in Canada.
Both teams are from the American League East Division. The New York Yankees have a 47-42 win-loss card while the Toronto Blue Jays stays at the tail end of the standings in the East with a 42-47 mark.
One interesting thing to watch
in this game is how will Mike Mussina play since he did not make the 2008 MLB All Star Game roster after he was cut by Boston Red Sox and American League manager Terry Francona.
The veteran pitcher eased any hard feelings by pointing out a lot of worthy candidates didn’t get the call as well.
‘’I'm probably a little disappointed, sure,'’ Mike Mussina, who won 11 games this year, said after the roster was announced. ‘’But if you look at the list of guys that didn’t get to go, you could pick a whole other team from the guys on the bubble who didn’t go.'’
The Yankees will send Joba Chamberlain to the mound to compete against…

I guess one little piggy felt left out in New York eh?
Three members of the New York Yankees are slated to play in next week’s 2008 MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium but right hand Yankee pitcher Mike Mussina won’t be in that list.
Mike Mussina was left out of the American League squad and though he admitted to be a little disappointed, he says he wasn’t upset with the American League skipper Terry Francona (who happens to be the manager of their rivals Boston Red Sox…) about his decision. Mike Mussina is just pleased to be pitching well.
‘’It’s OK, really,'’ New York Yankees
pitcher Mike Mussina said, who is 11-6 with a 3.64 ERA but won’t join teammates Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera next week. ‘’I don’t think I could have done anything else.'’
Mariano Rivera, considered to be one of the greatest closers of his generation, will be starting which is only fitting for a guy of his caliber.
The 2008 MLB All-Star Game is not your typical midsummer classic. It will be played at Yankee Stadium, marking the official farewell to the legendary ballpark which the New York Yankees are replacing with a new structure in 2009.
Mike Mussina insisted making the All-Star team wasn’t a goal of his this season.
‘’I think I’ve done pretty much what I’ve wanted to do this year,'’ Mike Mussina said. ‘’I got out there and proved I could…'’

The stage is set for MLB baseball’s midsummer classic.
As boring as baseball has been this 2008 MLB baseball season, their midseason All-Star break will still come at you with full force whether you like it or not. After all, these guys have to do something to take our minds away from all the steroid issues surrounding their stars right?
And when the 2008 MLB All-Star Weekend gets here, those stars will be featured, with or without the use of steroids. Hopefully, stars that get the invite for the midsummer extravaganza won’t have to since this event won’t be as competitive as a regular season game anyway.
So who got the invite?
The 2008 MLB All-Stars were named last Sunday (well some of them anyway…) and it was no surprise that four of the defending champions Boston Red Sox were selected for the American League All-Stars led by team captain Manny Ramirez.
Ramirez will be joined by Red Sox teammates David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis. However, as great as it would be seeing…

Too bad eh?
The 2008 MLB All-Star Game is fast approaching but unfortunately for one slugger from Boston, he won’t be participating. And considering the success in sports this city had this season, seeing one of their biggest stars slowed down like this is just sad.
I’m referring to David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox. And yes, with him suffering a left wrist injury, he won’t be playing in baseball’s midsummer classic. Unfortunately for baseball fans, that’s one less guy who can bring that ball flying away from the park.
‘’I'm going to go to the All-Star Game.
Show respect for the fans. I’m not going to be able to play,'’ David Ortiz said. ‘’I'm still working my way up. I’m feeling better everyday. I’m not going to tell you when I’m going to be 100 percent because I don’t know.'’
Uh oh… You read it right, Ortiz has no idea when will he be able to return to the Red Sox rotation this 2008 MLB baseball season. And with them having a World Series title to defend, him coming back should be big. Yes, bigger than his ass.
Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona is still hoping for the best.
‘’When we get to the All-Star break, it’s hard to know exactly, but…'’
