Can the Indians advance to 2007 MLB World Series?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgONE GAME. Believe it or not, the Indians are only one game away from the World Series.

With that said, is it really ‘’Tribe Time?'’ Can this Cleveland Indians team, the same team that eliminated the New York Yankees from the playoffs, eliminate the powerhouse Boston Red Sox and advance to the 2007 MLB World Series and hopefully end their 40-plus-year drought of playing through without any title whatsoever?

On Thursday, we’ll find out as the 2007 American League Championship Series resumes at Jacobs Field in Cleveland Ohio. We’ll find out too if the Red Sox just made a terrible mistake of letting Game 4 last Tuesday slip away from them that easily.

Manny RamirezYou see, Boston Red Sox general manager, Terry Francona, decided to keep his ace pitcher, Josh Beckett on the bench last Tuesday. The result? The Cleveland Indians hammered the Red Sox for seven runs. Hell, the Cleveland bats were working so nice in Game 4 that they didn’t even had to bat on the 9th inning to blast Boston away.

Heading to Game 5, the Cleveland Indians are probably feeling the ‘’killer instinct,'’ if you will, within them as they will start their ace pitcher C.C. Sabathia to avoid committing the same mistake that will probably cost the Red Sox their…

Boston Red Sox still hounded by the New York Yankees

By: J.J. Jack

Yep, after their game against the Minnesota Twins Thursday night, the Red Sox ain’t division champions just yet.

In what is shaping up to be an exciting finish to the 2007 MLB baseball season, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are still toe-to-toe as both teams go for the American League East championship.

Against the Minnesota Twins, the Boston Red Sox could’ve had the AL East title in the bag, if it wasn’t for a 5-4 loss to the Twins that kicked off their four-game season series that concludes on Sunday.

Boston Red SoxYep, the Boston Red Sox lost to the Minnesota Twins, that’s despite the fact that David Ortiz went on a 4-for-4 performance that just sent Fenway Park to a frenzy. The loss means the New York Yankees continues to close in on their lead, now only two games behind the AL East division leaders.

Michael Cuddyer and Garrett Jones homered off the 20-game winner in his last start before the 2007 MLB playoffs begin. Much to the dismay of Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett.

Josh Beckett is done for the rest of the…

2007 MLB Season resumes with the Red Sox still hot

By: J.J. Jack

THANK GOODNESS, sports is back.

It was one looong day in American sports yesterday with virtually nothing to watch other than the pathetic WNBA thing. (And in case you were wondering, NO, we don’t watch the WNBA, heck, we don’t even consider it as sports anyway…) On that note, will somebody scrap this league already? Women can’t play basketball. Period.

After the 78th Midsummer Classic that held this year’s MLB season on hold for the 2007 MLB All-Star game, baseball resumes this Thursday and what better to resume our coverage of MLB baseball (no matter how boring it is STILL…) than writing about probably the hottest team on that diamond today?

manny_ramirez1.jpgYep, I’m talking about those Boston Red Sox.

At this point of the 2007 MLB baseball season, the Boston Red Sox are currently the winningnest team in the league, THAT is despite losing three games in a row. The Red Sox are currently at 53-34 after 87 games and with a league-best .609 winning percentage, they just edge the 52-34 Detroit Lions (.605) and the 53-35 Los Angeles Angels (.602).

And mind you, that’s not the only thing going for the Red Sox these days. At 53-34, the Red Sox are on the same track as their 2006 campaign, and that is precisely a 100-win pace. Obviously, they are the team to beat in the…

Can A-Rod’s ‘’HA'’ lift the Yankees over the Red Sox?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgOn Friday, this Yankees - Red Sox rivalry will be renewed once again.

Yep, the New York Yankees will visit the Boston Red Sox on Friday for a three-game series that will stretch until Sunday. These Yankees are nowhere in comparison to the Bronx bombers that made Yankee baseball such a spectacle to watch and on Friday, the Boston Red Sox, leaders of the American League East, will try to teach them a thing or two… Again…

Unless of course the Yankees come up with the same tricks they used that irritated the Toronto Blue Jays a few days ago.

Coming to alex_rodriguez3.jpgthis three-game series with the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees pulled off a rather controversial win over the Toronto Blue Jays, 10-5, just to avoid yet another humiliating sweep. (Yep, these Yankees sure had a lot of those lately…)

Alex Rodriguez always said the game always comes down to him and as egotistical as that remark sounds, after watching him virtually screw the Blue Jays, I would have to agree.

The Yankees were leading Toronto by two runs when New York’s Jorge Posada unloaded a somewhat dead flyball to third base with two outs at the top of the 9th inning. Then, just when Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Howi Clark was about to pull his team out of the inning, Yankees star Alex Rodriguez shouted…

Red Sox sweep Yankees, stop Alex Rodriguez craze

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgJust when you thought Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have it finally figured out, they had to come to Boston.

After a series of come-from-behind victories that saw Alex Rodriguez bring the New York Yankees back to win baseball games, all the drama came to a stop in Boston where the Boston Red Sox didn’t gave them a chance to win anything, THRICE.

Yep, the Boston Red Sox swept the red-hot New York Yankees, 3-0, winning their first season-series of the new 2007 MLB baseball season. It was all lucky sevens for the Red Sox, winning 7-6 Friday, 7-5 Saturday and 7-6 Sunday to finish off what became a one-sided, highly contested, series of baseball games.

boston_redsox.jpgAnd yeah, you just know that last Sunday’s game was the most contested of all. After all, the Yankees definitely didn’t want the Red Sox to sweep them this early in the season considering everything they had going coming to Boston. The only problem was, the Red Sox was looking to have exactly that.

Sweep the stupid Yanks’.

As magical as the New York Yankees have become the last few games before their trip to Boston, it was the Red Sox who had their fair share of magic. Last Sunday’s win over the Yankees was Boston’s third consecutive come-from-behind win. Yep, exactly what the Yankees have been doing before this epic three-game series.

The Boston Red Sox were in bad shape, as they almost saw a sweep of the Yankees out the window. But after the third-inning homer off rookie Chase Wright, everything changed as it gave Boston…

Yep, Red Sox star Daisuke Matsuzaka is no android yet

By: J.J. Jack

Daisuke Matsuzaka is human. And Asians don’t always look like Jacky Chan.

After two starts by Boston Red Sox star Daisuke Matsuzaka, he showed us that the 2007 MLB baseball season still is a learning curve for him. Oh yeah, he also reminded us from those two starts that he is STILL a rookie too.

Against Ichiro Suzuki, Dice-K (thanks to the Western coining of his Asian name…) showed that he can also be vulnerable at times. Heck, it showed, when the guy saw Ichiro Suzuki at bat when his Boston Red Sox played Suzuki’s Seattle Mariners.

daisuke_matsuzaka1.jpgRound One of the Daisuke Matsuzaka – Ichiro Suzuki show belongs to Ichiro after the Mariners beat the Red Sox, 3-0. Maybe Daisuke is not yet the messiah Boston fans were hoping him to be? Well, for what it’s worth, Dice-K still does have a lot of learning to do so you can’t nail him to a cross just yet.

Matsuzaka, despite the setback, is still happy about his debut to MLB baseball.

‘’(On Tuesday), during the Opening (Day) ceremonies when my name was called, I was given a grand welcome by the fans here, and it gave me goose bumps,'’ Daisuke Matsuzaka said through…

What’s Roger Clemens doing in NY Yankees game?

By: J.J. Jack

Maybe Roger Clemens was checking out Derek Jeter in those skimpy pinstripe uniforms. Hmm…

Yep, the former New York Yankees pitcher was watching his former MLB Baseball team take on Cincinnati a few days ago and God only knows what the sick fuck is doing there. For all we know, he attended the game just to see Derek Jeter’s tight little ass.

Oh wait, yep, apparently, he was checking out Andy Pettite, NOT Derek Jeter, as ‘’the rocket'’ created quite a stir while watching his ‘’good friend'’ Andy pitch for the New York Yankees after his sabbatical with the Houston Astros.

roger_clemens.jpgWill he or will he NOT be? That is the question withing the Yankees organization lately regarding Roger Clemens donning a MLB Baseball uniform again this season to pitch for the Yankees.

Roger Clemens, 44, has been discounting talk that he’ll play MLB Baseball this season. But he at least acknowledged a time frame for making his choice. ‘’Give me a call in early May, I’ll have another decision to make,'’ Roger Clemens said.

Will it really help the New York Yankees if this guy suited up for them? Heck, why would you let this moron play for your team anyway? He’s old and likes to throw pieces of baseball bats to Mike Piazza more than he throws…

Show me the MANNY! RAMIREZ rejoins Red Sox!

By: J.J. Jack

For the Boston faithful still loving sports despite the Patriots’ demise and the Celtics’ mess this year, the MLB Baseball season has officially arrived.

Manny Ramirez returns to the Boston Red Sox, three days earlier than expected. Ramirez was sporting a new hairstyle and to signify his allegiance to the Red Sox, he actually had Red Sox colors on his dreadlocks.

Yep, there were red spots on his head, making it look like he got his head hit by a damn baseball bat or something.

manny_ramirez.jpgThe Boston Red Sox slugger showed up at the team’s spring training facility emerging from the training area of the Sox clubhouse. He walked over to his locker, shooed away reporters, and sat down.

Though he is the last Red Sox player to report before the new MLB Baseball season starts, Ramirez’ arrival still came as a bit of a surprise. He had been given permission to report late to camp due to his mother’s health issues.

‘’(The Red Sox) extended him the opportunity to stay with his mother who had surgery this offseason,'’ said Greg Genske, one of…

Curt Schilling’s last dance with the Boston Red Sox is the coming 2007 MLB Baseball Season?

By: Syndicate

Yep, this is it.

Apparently, Curt Schilling will play out the entire 2007 MLB Baseball season as a member of the Boston Red Sox. After this season is over, (heck, this season haven’t even started yet!) he’s testing the market and will file for free agency.

Hmm… At least the guy’s telling the Red Sox organization that this early eh? Curt Schilling said he will become a free agent after the MLB Baseball season and won’t let that distract him during his fourth year with the Boston Red Sox.

Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein wouldn’t rule out in-season discussions for a new contract though. At a brief meeting between the two, Epstein told his pitcher, Curt Schilling, that the team would not give him an extension during spring training, as the veteran had wished.

And they expect him to sign a contract in the middle of the season? Jeez…

‘’Curt’s going to be 41, and at that age we’ve got to be a little more conservative,'’ Epstein said. ‘’It doesn’t mean we don’t want him back. I have all the confidence in the world that if Curt wants to pitch in 2008 and he’s still pitching effectively, as I expect he will, then we’ll find a way to keep him in a Red Sox uniform.'’

Of course, you just know that Curt Schilling wasn’t happy about the team turning down the extension that he wanted.

He said he was ‘’disappointed'’ but…
