Today’s 2:10 snoozefest between the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers has an amorous public betting the Tigers. 80% of Covers bettors on board. How come? The heavy-hitting Tigers bat .287 against left handers and Kansas City Royals’ lefty pitcher Jimmy Gobble is primed for a pummeling. At a relatively cheap price of -125 over at Matchbook, it’s not a bad investment. But Gobble also has had some success against the Tigers with three wins and an ERA under 4.

2:10 p.m. Chicago White Sox (88-56, M. Buehrle) at Kansas City Royals (47-96, Z. Greinke) Best(Run)Line: CHISOX (-1 1/2) -125 Even though the White Sox have struggled a bit against the Royals this series, this is set-up to be the game where they absolutely bring out the delivery truck, steam roller, and marching band and go all Naked Gun on the Royals.Chicago starter Mark Buehrle hasn’t pitched well since the All-Star break and Zach Greinke hasn’t pitched well for more than two innings all year(yet, he still leads the team with 6.06 ERA). We’ll give the Royals 1 1/2 and take the cheaper price for the White Sox because we’re feeling a little pinched and need to make up some ground. Like now.

2:10 p.m. Minnesota Twins (70-62, K. Lohse) at Kansas City Royals (42-88, M. Wood) Best Line: KC ROYALS +153, MINN -156 We love Mike Wood. Even though he got dinged by the Yankees his last time out–before pitching 5 inning shutout ball going head-to-head with Randy Johnson–he’s still the man who stopped the Royals miserable 19-game losing streak. Let’s just say he’s pitched well enough in the last few weeks to conceivably be the Royals staff ace. The Twins are making a wild card push right now, but they offer up girlish Kyle Lohse whose been running through a streak of hard-luck losses his last 10 starts after almost being demoted to the bullpen. Plus he has a vagina. We believe we mentioned that already.

8:15 p.m. Boston Red Sox (71-51, D. Wells) at Kansas City Royals (40-82, Z. Greinke) Best Line: 9.5 runs over/under I ate Percocets one day with then New York Yankees’ pitcher David Wells several years ago during an MTV taping. I washed mine down with Bloody Marys, Dave opted for one beer after another. I went home afterward, Dave went to the stadium. To pitch. What I’m saying is, with backs as bad as mine and Boomer’s, this is the time of year when fat men break down. And it’s already started to happen this season with Wells getting titted for 12 hits and six runs over four innings in his last start against Detroit.

1:05 pm Kansas City Royals (38-69, D. Carrasco) at Boston Red Sox (61-45, M. Clement) BEST LINE: BOSTON RED SOX -270 It has got to be a tough day to manage for Royals Manager Buddy Bell. His nephew, Lance Cpl. Timothy Michael Bell Jr., was one of the 14 Marines killed in yesterday’s attack in Iraq and his team has to face the Boston Red Sox for the third game of the series at Fenway Park this afternoon. There was an emotional moment of silence for Lance Cpt Bell before the game. Also, last night, thanks to the Yankees dropping their second straight game to the Cleveland Indians, the Red Sox managed to increase their lead by 4.5 games in the AL East-their biggest division lead of the season. The Sox have been doing just enough to not lose to the Kansas City Royals in the past two games.

2:10 p.m. Chicago White Sox (65-34, J. Garland) at Kansas City Royals (37-63, R. Hernandez) Best Line: ChiSox -151, 8.5 o/u Jon Garland continues his Cy Young campaign and Runelvys Hernandez continues to clock hos. Well, not really, but we’re starting to see that the fiery young pitcher with the napped out hair is keeping control of himself–and the game–of late.
