NL Teams likely to make it to the 2008 MLB Playoffs

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgThe National League, hopefully, these guys won’t be as boring as hell come playoff time.

And since the road for the 2008 MLB World Series is about to begin once the postseason arrive, NL teams in the MLB are hoping to make some noise, looking to own a championship ring once the dust settles.

One of these teams is of course, the Arizona Diamondbacks. These guys should be fine as long as Brandon Webb is there to win games for ‘em. The D-Backs are probably this year’s counterpart of the Tampa Bay Rays in terms of shock factor since nobody expected them to be this good this year either.

Arizona DiamondbacksOnly time will tell if they can continue their Cinderella run.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, on the other hand, are simply too inconsistent to catch the top dogs although they still have a shot of making it to the playoffs. And it might even be a close fight to the finish although it still depends if the Dodgers can get hot in the final month.

The Chicago Cubs is also one of the teams from the National League who have shocked baseball fans across the country. The Cubs are perhaps the most complete team in the NL and quite possibly, the entire league. They have great team chemistry…

Can the National League keep up with the American League in the 2008 MLB Baseball Season?

By: Syndicate

Unfortunately for Mets and Dodgers fans, their teams’ respective counterparts in the American League STILL generate more hype.

That’s the way things have been the last couple of years, and in this 2008 MLB baseball season, nothing has changed. Why? Probably has something to do with the way this team from the AL East simply knocked the hell out of the National League’s representative during last season’s World Series.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies lead the East, the Chicago Cubs lead the Central and the Arizona Diamondbacks lead the West. And although they may be regarded as the ‘’weaker conference'’ in baseball, don’t expect that to stop them from proving why people should start thinking otherwise.

Chicago CubsThe Philadelphia Phillies lead the Eastern division with a 41-29 record, also having the best road record in the National conference with 20-16. Against the St. Louis Cardinals, we all saw how impressive this Phillies team can be after the Phillies won with a whopping 20-2 blast. Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning, and the Phillies added nine runs in the fourth to win the opener of a three-game series Friday at Busch Stadium.

In the Central, division leader Chicago Cubs got a slight bump to…

NY Mets continue to eat shit, misses 2007 MLB Playoffs

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWhat the heck happened to the New York Mets?

After leading the National League East by seven games with only 17 games to go in the 2007-08 MLB baseball season, the New York Mets made history Sunday, becoming the only team to miss the playoffs with the kind of meltdown they had the past few weeks.

Jeez… The New York Mets, after a healthy seven-game advantage in their division, just kept on crumbling down, losing to the Florida Marlins that virtually eliminated them from the postseason last Sunday.

New York MetsThe New York Mets completed one of the epic collapses in MLB history. The last time the Mets held the top spot in the NL East, the chances of them missing the 2007 MLB playoffs were 500-1. He he… The Mets hit it against the Marlins.

‘’It’s embarrassing,'’ Mets closer Billy Wagner said. ‘’That’s the big thing.'’

The New York Mets, after looking like the more talented team in New York City, went for a pathetic 5-12 to finish the season. As they should be, the rest of the Mets are embarrassed, as is their general manager Willie Randolph.

‘’This is just a tough life lesson in baseball,'’ Willie Randolph said.

‘’Any time you have an opportunity to finish the deal and don’t capitalize on it, it will come back to haunt you. And it sure did with us. The bottom line is that we spit away an opportunity to…'’

MLB pitcher Tom Glavine wants attention, wins 300th

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYou haven’t forgotten all about Tom Glavine now are you?

After San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds and New York Yankees fan favorite Alex Rodriguez each had a milestone of their own last Saturday, Tom Glavine apparently wants some attention too as he went on to have the 300th win of his career.

Yep, New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine got his 300th career win after leading the Mets to an 8-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Tom Glavine was playing against the Cubs as if he was ten years younger, mixing up his pitches and fooling every single Cubs slugger who set foot on the plate.

tom_glavine.jpg‘’If I was the last one, I guess it would be pretty cool to be the last one to do something in the game,'’ Tom Glavine said.

‘’It wasn’t a dazzling performance in terms of striking people out. It was an exercise in hitting my spots and changing speeds and letting the guys behind me do their work,'’ Glavine added, looking quite relieved after the game.

‘’I think the feeling right now is probably relief,'’ Glavine said. ‘’At some point in time, I don’t know when, the historic side of it will sink in. I know the company I’m in, and I’m as proud as can be to be in that company.'’

Tom Glavine, despite not finishing the game after leaving the mound after…

Mets to use Cardinals as kicking board in MLB baseball

By: J.J. Jack

JUNE IS ALMOST OVER. That could be the reason why the Mets are winning again and the Yankees are starting to suck… again.

Yep, after the incredible nine-game winning streak that saw the New York Yankees within a few games of the AL East division leaders, Boston Red Sox, the Yankees fell below the .500 mark after dropping back-to-back games at San Francisco.

And while the New York Yankees were losing games, the Mets, all of a sudden, are winning again after the dismal performances they had early June. Go figure.

It seems that karma made its ny_mets1.jpgway back to the Bronx after it decided to go get the bombers’ city rivals. Now that the month of June gets ready to make way for July, we’re back to where we were a few weeks ago, the Yankees SUCK while the Mets are hot.

The New York Mets, after sweeping the Oakland Athletics, now hold a three-game advantage over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East.

The Mets will host the defending MLB World Series champions, St. Louis Cardinals, for a four-game season series starting…

Mets meet streaking Yankees in a battle for New York

By: J.J. Jack

The Yankees and the Mets will resume their storied rivalry in a three-game ‘’subway series'’ that will start Friday.

Yep, it’s all about baseball in New York City as the New York Yankees and the New York Mets will meet for three straight games that will stretch this Friday until Sunday. Bad news for the Mets, the New York Yankees are just firing in all cylinders.

Coming to this ‘’subway series'’ with the Mets, the New York Yankees are owners of the longest winning streak in the 2007 MLB baseball season, winning NINE straight games to put them over the .500 mark. The Yankees are now second-best in the American League East, trailing their ‘’other'’ rival, the Boston Red Sox.

After their dismal performances ny_yankees.jpgon the diamond, it seems the New York Yankees have finally got it together and it’s not even because of the return of Roger Clemens. (Then again, maybe it is but who am I kidding… The guy should just fucking retire or something…)

While the Yanks began winning all those nine games, the Mets all of a sudden, lost the form that propelled them at the top of the National League East at this point of the 2007 MLB baseball season. Yep, it definitely looks like the bad karma the Yankees have been having earlier took the subway to…

The day when Mets fans start blinding Braves pitchers

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgFor all ya’ll who missed it, a New York Mets fan was accused of blinding an Atlanta Braves pitcher and shortstop during a game at Shea.

Yep, and the culprit is New York Mets fan Frank Martinez. He pleaded not guilty to the ‘’blinding an Atlanta Braves pitcher'’ crime with a high-powered flashlight. He he… Nice. Very nice.

Frank Martinez was arraigned in Queens criminal court on charges of interfering with a professional sporting event and second-degree reckless endangerment. He was held on $1,000 bail and is due back in court May 1.

tim_hudson.jpgYup, unfortunately, the guy was booked for helping his own town’s team win. He he… I definitely don’t get that. If he helped the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets instead, would he get into deeper shit?

For what it’s worth, the authorities claim Martinez, 40-years-old, flashed the light at the players in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday from his seat behind home plate. He quickly was ejected from the game.

‘’The defendant’s alleged actions recklessly endangered the lives of players and spectators and caused a temporary delay to the game,'’ Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

The Atlanta Braves were destroying the Mets 7-0 at the time of the incident. Probably without anything better to do, (and maybe bored out of his mind too…) Fred…

Can the New York Mets win the 2007 MLB World Series?

By: Seth Edward O'Neal

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWha?!? Sorry, we shouldn’t be talking about that THIS EARLY. For what it’s worth, the Mets started this season firing.

Yep, you know them, they’re that ‘’other'’ MLB Baseball team in New York. And yes, revenge was on their minds as they prepared to play the very team that eliminated them in the National League Championship Series, the St. Louis Cardinals.

While the St. Louis Cardinals were parading like morons, still basking in the glory of their 2006 World Series championship, Mets players like David Wright and Paul Lo Duca stretched in shallow left field and Carlos Delgado was running sprints as they watch the Cardinals hoist the 2006 MLB World Series flag.

ny_mets.jpgAfter the festivities were over, it was the Mets celebrating, celebrating a win over the defending World Series champions.

The New York Mets parlayed some fine pitching by Tom Glavine, exceptional defense and clutch hitting to a 6-1 victory before 45,429 true believers at Busch. Best of all, they officially put spring training in the rear-view mirror.

I guess the Mets watching how the Cardinals celebrate their World Series win didn’t faze them one bit eh?

‘’It’s a respect thing and a good sportsmanship thing, and you can use it for some motivation,'’ David Wright said. ‘’In the back of your mind, you want to be a part of that at some point. And it’s kind of cool to see a World Series banner raised. That’s my first time seeing…'’

What’s Roger Clemens doing in NY Yankees game?

By: J.J. Jack

Maybe Roger Clemens was checking out Derek Jeter in those skimpy pinstripe uniforms. Hmm…

Yep, the former New York Yankees pitcher was watching his former MLB Baseball team take on Cincinnati a few days ago and God only knows what the sick fuck is doing there. For all we know, he attended the game just to see Derek Jeter’s tight little ass.

Oh wait, yep, apparently, he was checking out Andy Pettite, NOT Derek Jeter, as ‘’the rocket'’ created quite a stir while watching his ‘’good friend'’ Andy pitch for the New York Yankees after his sabbatical with the Houston Astros.

roger_clemens.jpgWill he or will he NOT be? That is the question withing the Yankees organization lately regarding Roger Clemens donning a MLB Baseball uniform again this season to pitch for the Yankees.

Roger Clemens, 44, has been discounting talk that he’ll play MLB Baseball this season. But he at least acknowledged a time frame for making his choice. ‘’Give me a call in early May, I’ll have another decision to make,'’ Roger Clemens said.

Will it really help the New York Yankees if this guy suited up for them? Heck, why would you let this moron play for your team anyway? He’s old and likes to throw pieces of baseball bats to Mike Piazza more than he throws…

NLCS Game 7: It’s either seventh heaven or hell for Mets and Cardinals

By: Neo

It all boils down to a single game.

MLB Baseball hasn’t had it for two years. Baseball fans can’t get enough of it.

And although the St. Louis Cardinals may not regard it as a heavenly event, they and the New York Mets will decide the National League pennant on Thursday night in the ultimate game of the NLCS.

Baseball fans will be treated to another heaven or hell match at Shea Stadium, when the Cardinals and Mets decide the National League pennant. It will be the 12th time an LCS has gone the distance since it was expanded to a best-of-seven format in 1985.

Mets vs Cardinals in NLCS Game 7History is not with the Cardinals. Under such circumstances - a Game 6 loss setting up Game 7 — the last 11 road teams have lost. The last team to safely ride that wave were the 1975 Reds in the World Series, winning in Boston.

This will be MLB’s first Game 7 since 2004, when both Championship Series - Red Sox over Yankees, Cardinals over Astros - went the distance.

The Shea Stadium faithful will give the Cardinals an earful everytime Albert Pujols takes the plate. Heck, they will give the Cardinals an earful about anything.

Good point: The Mets have won the only home Game 7 in their history, the 1986 World Series clincher against the…
