Because we all know ya’ll are just drooling to waste all your life savings on one big football game this Sunday.
The circus we know as Super Bowl week is slowly winding down. Tuesday was Media Day, always good for a few laughs, but things have been pretty quiet since the Steelers and the Cardinals arrived for Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, Florida.
Even on the betting side, things have been relatively at peace. The line, which opened at most places at -6.5, quickly moved to -7 as early bets came in for the Pittsburgh Steelers and it has stayed there ever since. Looking around at both online books and Vegas everyone is holding steady at -7.
The Total opened at 47.5 and saw
some ”Under” money push it down to 47 where it has settled in as well. So we have -7, 47 as the lines for the game. Two very key numbers that books will be highly reluctant to move away from (in fact, they won’t, you won’t see any movement on the point spread before kick-off or the Over/Under, although you might see the juice adjusted as we get closer to game time).
Moneyline bettors, and there are always a healthy number for Super Bowl, are looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers at -245 and the Arizona Cardinals at +205. Talking with SportsBetting.com, they are seeing very balanced action on the moneyline heading into the big game.
If you listen to ESPN radio, the Steelers are almost…

This is probably the second biggest playoff game of the year. Better than the Eagles – Giants divisional face-off and second only to the Super Bowl.
If you’re a fan of smashmouth football, and let’s face it, most of us are, chances are this week’s 2009 AFC championship game between the Ravens and the Steelers will serve up a healthy dish of it. And if you’re an ”Over” bettor, believe it or not, this could be a good spot for you as well.
As I’m sure you all know, the Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting their bitter division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, for the right to represent the AFC at Super Bowl XLIII. The Steelers opened at -5.5 and were quickly bet up to -6 where they sit now. The Total is holding steady at 34.5.
Conventional wisdom would dictate a wager
on the Under, after all, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens ranked first and third respectively when it came to fewest points allowed in the regular season and although Pittsburgh gave up 24 points in its 35-24 playoff victory against the Chargers, Baltimore has allowed an average of 9.5 points against in the postseason and has gone Under in both of its playoff contests.
But if you look closer at head-to-head matchups between the Ravens and Steelers, they tell a bit of a different tale.
Dating back to 2002, Baltimore’s last eight visits to Pittsburgh have resulted in 7 Overs and 1 Under. Adding to the ”Over” trend is the last…

This is probably the biggest playoff game of the weekend.
One, because this Eagles – Giants faceoff in the 2009 NFC divisional playoffs will feature two teams from the NFC East, arguably the best division in pro sports. Two, because whichever team comes out of this one will probably go on and win the Super Bowl.
Yup, the 2009 NFL playoffs continue this Sunday at Giants Stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles visit the New York Giants for what should be one heckuva’ playoff game.
This is the first playoff game for the New York Giants since denying the New England Patriots of
the Super Bowl last year. They start their playoff campaign with a divisional-round game against the red-hot Philadelphia Eagles who, despite being the last seed in the conference, should pose a formidable challenge to anyone who stands across them in the postseason.
The New York Giants (12-4) stumbled somewhat at the end of the season, dropping three of their last four, although they managed to clinch the top seed in the NFC with an overtime win over Carolina on Dec.21. That earned a much-needed first-round bye for the Giants, who opened the season 11-1 and weathered a brutal schedule while playing 13 straight games after their bye week…

The AFC divisional playoffs conclude this Sunday at Heinz Field.
Yes, the NFL will conclude the 2009 AFC divisional playoffs at Heinz Field where the San Diego Chargers visit the Pittsburgh Steelers, hoping that they’d be able to keep the momentum they generated a few weeks ago and keep those ”terrible towels” in Pittsburgh down.
The last time these two teams met, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the San Diego Chargers 11-10 at Heinz Field on Nov.16, despite not scoring a touchdown after making three trips inside San Diego’s 20-yard line.
Since then, the San Diego Chargers have
been awesome, providing probably the biggest upset of the 2009 NFL playoffs in knocking off league MVP Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts, a week after earning that wild card spot when they dominated the Denver Broncos at home.
Darren Sproles has emerged as the next young playmaker in San Diego’s backfield. Chances are, we haven’t seen the last of him either because word is that LaDainian Tomlinson could be out for the rest of the playoffs with a groin injury.
Defensively for the San Diego Chargers, coordinator Ron Rivera has had massive impact since taking over for Ted Cottrell midseason. As a…

Can the Titans continue their Cinderella run in Nashville?
The 2009 NFL playoffs continue this weekend as the Ravens visit the Titans in Nashville, Tennessee in the AFC divisional playoffs. The Ravens are expected to make some adjustments heading into this one and since they have shown some resiliency in coach Harbaugh’s first season in Baltimore, that should not be a problem.
By winning in Miami last week, the Baltimore Ravens improved to 6-3 on the road. That’s a drastic improvement from the 1-7 road record they had under Brian Billick last season.
However, it should be hard to get a win
over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. The Titans are 7-1 at LP Field this season, that’s good for the second-best home record in the NFL.
The last time these two teams met, the Ravens lost to the Titans, 13-10, on Oct.5. But since then, Baltimore’s signature defense has turn it up a notch. They beat the high-powered offense Dallas was raving about all year long before holding the Jaguars to just seven points in their last game of the regular season. And after the Ravens managed to come up with the most lopsided win of the wild card round after beating the Dolphins, 27-9, yes, that Baltimore defense is back stronger than ever. Granted, the Titans have the…

For the Cardinals to beat the Panthers at home is a tall order. Luckily, Arizona has the tendency for shocking everybody this season.
The 2009 NFL playoffs continue in the NFC as the Arizona Cardinals will look to accomplish something that everybody failed to do all year, beat the Panthers in Carolina.
Yes, the Carolina Panthers, undefeated at home this season, will look to improve to 9-0 at the Bank of America Stadium by beating the Cardinals in Charlotte for the second time in this campaign.
The Carolina Panthers and
the Arizona Cardinals square off Saturday night for the chance to advance to the NFC championship game and face the winner of the Eagles – Giants face-off.
Carolina tied for the best regular-season record in the NFC at 12-4, thanks in large part to its first undefeated record at home since 1996. The Panthers won all of their eight games at the Bank of America Stadium by an average of 15.4 points.
The Arizona Cardinals, meanwhile, went 0-5 in the East, losing to Washington, the New York Jets, Carolina, Philadelphia and New England by an average of 20.0 points. They are 2-20 in their last 22 games in the Eastern time zone. And since Charlotte, North Carolina IS from the Eastern time zone…

With the labor agreement almost entirely in place, the ice heads are already getting themselves well lubricated for the prospects of a new National Hockey Leage season–one with a salary cap, no less–after a year of floating wistfully on an unfrozen pond. And with a new hockey season comes new NHL betting opportunities. And since most places don’t have any lines at this point, we figured we’ll get you all fired up anyway and show you the against the spread(ATS) standings from last year.
