Because they probably can’t wait to get rid of Romeo Crennel after a disappointing year.
After what has been a disappointing stint so far in the 2008-09 NFL football season, the Cleveland Browns look ready to move on under a new head coach. They seem ready to let Romeo Crennel go and according to some sources, they are already formulating a plan to sign one of their targets, former San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer.
You read it, the Cleveland Browns are leaning towards having Marty Schottenheimer as their new head coach for the 2009 season.
And although Browns owner Randy Lerner said he will still evaluate Romeo Crennel when
this season is over, I’m betting we won’t be seeing Romeo back in the Browns sidelines for the foreseeable future.
Marty Schottenheimer was fired by the San Diego Chargers despite leading the team to a 14-2 record and a first-round playoff bye back in 2006. A loss to the New England Patriots in the second round PLUS a broken relationship with general manager A.J. Smith led to his somewhat surprising dismissal in February of 2007.
Of course, since the San Diego Chargers still had a solid 2006 campaign despite losing to the Pats, the players were upset over Schottenheimer’s dismissal. Now that those…

Ugh… How many chances can one man get?
After getting his ass banned (for the second time in his career) this 2008-09 NFL football season, Adam ‘’Pacman'’ Jones is back after getting reinstated by the NFL again.
You read it, Adam ‘’Pacman'’ Jones is scheduled to be back in the Dallas Cowboys roster on December 7, when the ‘Boys play the Pittsburgh Steelers in what should be a tough battle at Heinz Field.
Hopefully, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell won’t regret making this mistake TWICE. Of course, let’s hope the Dallas Cowboys organization won’t be regretting taking him back as well.
For what it’s worth, at least Pacman’s attorney is happy about it. THIS WAY, Pacman is the Cowboys’ problem now and not his. ‘’He much appreciates the Cowboys and Jerry Jones for standing behind him and encouraging him, and he’s grateful to the commissioner,'’ Worrick Robinson, Adam Jones’ Nashville-based attorney, said.
This time though, the Cowboys will no longer have bodyguards to keep Adam Jones in check. You see, they provided him with a lot of them after he was reinstated in the NFL the first time at the start of the current season but since Jones decided to fight off his own bodyguard early this campaign, the Cowboys decided it’ll just be all up to Jones now to…

Since J.J. Jack is busy pissing off Pacquiao’s fans for this Saturday’s fight, I’ll be doing our weekly NFL thing today.
Week 14 of the 2008-09 NFL football season begins slowly on a Thursday night when the league features two teams struggling at this point of the year. The Chargers, losers of their last three games, will play hosts to the Raiders, losers of the last three years, when the NFL kicks-off the brand new week exclusively for people who subscribed to the NFL Network.
The San Diego Chargers haven’t had a losing season in five years. It’s been just as long since their last loss to the Oakland Raiders. The Chargers, possibly the most disappointing team of the season, want to make sure neither of those streaks end Thursday night, as they host the Raiders, looking to avoid putting their slim playoff hopes at risk this weekend.
That’s why the San Diego Chargers can’t afford to lose to the Raiders on Thursday. We’re picking them by seven.
With a one-game lead in the NFC North, the Minnesota Vikings need every victory they can get to remain atop the division. Having a pair of Pro Bowl defensive linemen on the field certainly can’t hurt their cause. After a Minnesota judge issued a temporary restraining order this week blocking their league suspensions, Kevin and Pat Williams will likely be available for the Vikings this Sunday against the winless Detroit Lions. The Vikings have won 12 of their past 13 meetings with the…

Jeez… How stupid can a man get?
Burress, during the first few weeks of the 2008-09 NFL football season, was the Giants’ no.1 option after coming up with the game-winning touchdown last February to win Super Bowl XLII for New York City.
After all that, you would’ve assume Plaxico Burress will be at the top of his game, leading his New York Giants to another Super Bowl run. But after getting his ass suspended for missing practice a few weeks ago followed by sub par performances the weeks after, Burress may have done the worst thing a man can do to force the Giants organization to banish him from New York.
For all ya’ll who didn’t know, Plaxico Burress was
arrested last Monday after shooting himself Friday night in the right thigh at a Manhattan nightclub. He was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was released on a $100,000 bond.
The troubled Giants wide receiver is scheduled to return to court on March 31, in which defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman believing that Burress has 35 million reasons to do just that, referring to the whopping $35 million contract Burress has with the Giants organization.
A witness reported hearing a popping sound before Burress’ legs began to shake, according to a criminal complaint. It…

Don’t tell these guys that they’ll be playing to claim the No.1 spot in a division that’s likely to get it’s ass kicked in the postseason.
The NFC North. For a division that houses a 0-12 Lions team, a Packers franchise trying to reclaim its former glory without Favre and two teams tied on top with a win-loss mark BARELY above .500, the NFC North is probably the worst division we have in the 2008-09 NFL football season.
But still, a No.1 ranking is still a No.1 ranking and as far as the Vikings and the Bears are concerned, two teams currently tied at the top of the NFC North, leading their division is huge as they enter the final weeks of the football year. These two NFC rivals will collide on Sunday Night Football and whoever wins on Sunday night will have sole possession of the top spot.
That battle will be inside the Metrodome where the Minnesota Vikings welcome the visiting Chicago Bears. Led by Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings will have one of the league’s better running backs on their side. Since shocking the league in his rookie year last season, Peterson is back being a force in the Vikings offense the last few weeks after a somewhat slow start to the season.
The Bears defense know what Adrian Peterson can bring any given night. And since they take pride in stopping anybody on that field, they know they have to stop the run to earn themselves sole possession of the No.1 spot in the NFC North this…

Ah. It’s that time of the year in the NFL when we talk about candidates who’ll likely win the MVP.
When we talk about the Most Valuable Player in the NFL this 2008-09 NFL football season, we can define MVP as the player with the best individual stats period, regardless of team record. Some may even say that the MVP is the player with the best stats on the best team, even if another player at the same position has better stats but fails to make the cut just because that certain player is on a losing squad.
But what is the best definition for one to be called an NFL MVP? To me, one should first throw away the individual stats that the best player gets since everyone knows that football is a team sport.
An MVP candidate should make his teammates better and that is the bottomline. He should also be able to help his team achieve the ultimate goal, and that is to win the Super Bowl.
The biggest question now is, with the kind of season the Tennessee Titans have been having so far, is Kerry Collins now MVP worthy?
Everyone knows that the Tennessee Titans hold one of the best records in the league. But for some reason, Collins’ contribution to the Titans’ success has been overlooked and downplayed, with critics hanging the dreaded game manager tag on him. But in reality, Collins…

The guy keeping the Brady-less Pats afloat, that’s who.
After eight games and three quarters without Tom Brady this 2008-09 NFL football season, the Patriots are still on top of the AFC East, tied for first place in the division with the high-flying New York Jets.
And while the New England Patriots are no longer as high-flying as they were last season, they are just doing the things that need to be done to stay afloat even with the absence of their starting quarterback and running back.
Sure, Matt Cassel has done a solid
job filling in for the injured Brady, but let’s face it, Cassel won’t be making the top ten list of the best quarterbacks in the NFL anytime soon. So how come the Patriots have been doing just fine without Brady? Easy. They were able to establish a solid running game to compensate where they lack from the passing game.
With starting running back Laurence Maroney out indefinitely, undrafted rookie BenJarvus Green-Ellis has fit in perfectly for the Patriots offense. He has scored a touchdown in four straight games now and after he just scored his first 100-yard game in a 20-10 win over the Buffalo Bills, you just know that this guy has just begun.
Fitting in wasn’t always Green-Ellis’ forte so to speak. He remembers…

Happy Thanksgiving to ya’ll.
And yes, it’s the 13th week of the 2008-09 NFL football season as teams start to clamor for playoff positions, hoping that week no.13 will be a lucky one for them. And after 12 weeks, we learned that Matt Light and Channing Crowder fights like two eight-year-old school girls, Matt Cassel will be demanding for big dollars soon, Tony Romo is the only one in Dallas who can make Terrell Owens happy and the Lions are on the verge of setting a brand new record in the NFL, that’s becoming the biggest collection of human waste ever assembled on a football field.
And on Thanksgiving night, we will start the brand new week of football with three big games on Thursday. Starting with the last team to flirt with perfection this season, the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are looking to rebound from their first loss of the season. And with the still winless Detroit Lions set to
face them next, the stage is set for Tennessee bouncing back indeed. The 0-11 Lions are on the verge of becoming the first team in the NFL to go 0-16. And with teams like the Vikings, the Colts, the Saints and the Packers scheduled to play the struggling Lions next after going through the Titans, 0-16 is a scary possibility for the 313.
Tennessee Titans by 14.
Game 2 on Thanksgiving night will feature the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Seattle Seahawks. With Tony Romo returning to form and getting in sync with Terrell Owens last week, the Cowboys appear to have successfully put their mid-season troubles behind them. The Cowboys are 2-0 since Romo returned and with the struggling Seahawks set to play them at Texas Stadium next, a third straight win for America’s team is…

Hopefully, one of the six teams playing on Thanksgiving night will have something to be thankful for after it’s all said and done.
The brand new week of the 2008-09 NFL football season starts on Thanksgiving day with a triple-header that will surely blow your mind. Of course, SportsBetting.com is also there, ready to give you all kinds of Thanksgiving bonus offers aside from that turkey you’ll be chomping on at the dinner table.
We love tradition as much as the next guy, but can anyone give us one good reason why the Detroit Lions still get to play every Thanksgiving? I mean, come on, the Dallas Cowboys, they hold up their end of the deal, but the Lions organization simply doesn’t deserve a spotlight game on Thanksgiving Thursday any more.
But there they are, kicking the day off.
At least if you’re on the West Coast you can sleep in and miss the Lions game. That said, it’s still Thanksgiving Thursday football, one of the best days of the year and of course, this is also the perfect opportunity for you to cash in on the Thanksgiving bonus specials SportsBetting.com is offering.
Here’s what will be cooking on Thursday besides turkey and trimmings.
The Tennessee Titans will play the struggling Detroit Lions first. While the Titans blew a chance to keep the perfect season alive last week when they lost to the New York Jets, the 0-11 Lions are still on pace for another type of…

That’s despite playing like a jackass that got his ass benched at halftime last Sunday in a 36-7 loss to Baltimore.
After a promising start to the 2008-09 NFL football season, problems have once again started to ground the Eagles heading to the final stretch of the football year. And after all their problems at quarterback the last few years, guess what, they’re having problems with the QB position again.
For what it’s worth, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is healthy for the first time in quite a while. With McNabb back behind center, the Eagles looked like they’re finally ready to reclaim their spot atop the NFC since a particular wide receiver defected to Dallas. Well, at least that’s what they looked like during the first few weeks of the season anyway.
But during the last three weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles can’t seem to get it going on the field. After three weeks, the Eagles lost two and let the lowly Bengals tie them in overtime. And for a team that’s trying to keep up with the rest of the NFC East, again arguably the best division in pro sports, what the Eagles have done lately is simply unacceptable.
And while ‘’unacceptable'’ is more than enough, McNabb did more than that last Sunday.
McNabb was pulled from a game for the first time in his career after two dismal quarters against the Ravens over the…
