By: mullen

James Bond likes his martini shaken, not stirred, while playing his favorite Baccarat casino game.

Baccarat is hugely popular in European casinos as Blackjack is in the US, I guess. You can correct me if I’m wrong, no sweat. But this game has also become the favorite game for Asian gamblers, particularly the hotshot Chinese casino players.

To give you a brief background: Baccarat (say Bah-Caw-Rah) is actually an Italian reference to "zero", it’s a table game played with eight decks of cards. In this game, you are not competing against the dealer or the other players as you are in black jack. Quite specifically, you are betting on the cards. The object of the game is to obtain a two-card hand (in some cases, up to a three-card hand) with a total value that is closest to 9.

James Bond plays Baccarat Go to any of your favorite online casino sites and you will always find baccarat on its roster of games. Although it’s highly popular, it’s not as easy game to play as your favorite black jack. With so many cards involved and pretty complicated set of rules at first sight.

Plus many players who indulge in this game are the whales, or those high roller dudes.

Online gamblers from Asia and Europe are welcome to play. Folks from Italy will be happy to hear that by next year online gambling in their country will be legalized. Therefore they can freely…

Hurricane Betting Big Hit Among Online Gamblers

By: Poppy Z
With the basketball playoffs done and NFL football season still weeks away, there’s really not much activity going on in the betting world.

In the US, online bettors ever so creatively found a way to amuse or busy themselves via the latest props to hit the Internet — hurricane betting.

Hurricane gamblers have several options for placing bets. One is how many hurricanes will hit the United States. Another is how many will hit Florida and what category they will be.

For the many victims of last year’s hurricane Katrina, this form of betting is downright appalling. hurricane-online-bettingMainstream media are crying bad taste. But gamblers will bet on how many times President Bush will say "nucular" in a speech if they have nothing else to bet on.

And this season, betting on hurricanes is the  hot stuff.

Oddsmakers use meteorological data, including Colorado State University professor William Gray’s annual forecast for the Atlantic hurricane season, as well as historical data to determine the likelihood of storm strikes.

One major sportsbook, BetCRIS.com posted .25-to-1 odds that at least two Category 3 storms will hit the US. To be fair, the betting only involves whether or not a hurricane will hit a certain area. Or how many of mother nature’s destructive moods will strike the country.

No one is offering odds on death tolls or…

By: J.J. Jack

DIVA.jpgFrom our hurricane-rattled chums at Gambling 911, comes a report that Australians are not just a bunch of dudes chucking boomerangs and wrestling crocodiles. Nope, they also bet on horses. A lot. Wayne Allyn Root: Loves Suits, Hates Gangstas

By: J.J. Jack

microsoft.jpgKajillionaire gambling huckster Wayne Allyn Root values his own opinion a lot. So much that he has a book out called "Millionaire Republican: Why Republicans Get Rich–And How You Can Too", which, we’re assuming is 400 pages of asshole-dom pruned very heavily by an editor in order to get to that elusive point that proves so vital to most books. Ahem. Anyway, Root is also a columnist for Gambling 911 and in his third column this week, Root tackles the problem of NBA stars dressing like thugs and their objection to the dress code. His tricky navigation between outright bigotry and socioeconomic snobbery is quite disturbing, if not very telling of Root’s mindset. Oh and he also manages to plug his book every third paragraph.

And They Were All Yellow, Too…

By: J.J. Jack

500-1a.jpg One more reason to stay away from gaming expos–liver-stopping viruses. According to Gambling 911, at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas held Sept. 13-15th, one of its attendees was manning a free ice cream booth whilst in the final stages of hepatitis A–an ugly, but not neccessarily fatal liver disease. Reports say that up to 25,000 people may have been exposed to the disease during the conference. The Clark County Health District is now in the midst of its investigations. Those of you in the industry should make it a point to stay away from the yellow-tinted people the next few days–even though they look really cool.
