Michigan versus Michigan State, and you’ve got the 11th ranked team in the country against an under-achieving squad that’s dropped their last two, only this time the roles are reversed with the Spartans holding the almost-top-ten slot. Michigan managed to make it to the Rose Bowl last year behind freshman QB Chad Henne and freshman tailback Michael Hart, but has opened up this season looking less experienced, if that’s at all possible. Michigan State did give up a lot of yards and too many points to Notre Dame a couple of weeks back, but seemed to find their defense last Saturday against Illinois. Drew Stanton’s leadership, arm, and scrambling ability are the perfect fit for the Spartan offense, and if they can keep moving the ball down the field the way they have been lately, it’ll be a long day for the Wolverines. That being said, last year’s game featured an under-achieving bunch coming in against a higher ranked opponent on that opponent’s home turf, with the Spartans taking the host Wolverines to OT before losing. We think Michigan’s liable to repeat and reverse last year’s template, and has got a good chance to pull the upset. They should at least cover the spread.
