NYC Poker Raids: Election Season Equals Raids?

Another person upset over the NYC poker club raids and suggests some alternative licenses issuance for prosepective club owners and blasts some clubs for exposing themselves too much. This idea was posted on Craig’s List, of course.:

“To the frustrated poker players out there I feel your pain. I too miss playing and view these clubs as a positive not a negative…[Y]ou would think the mayor and the NYPD would have the same attitude. But speculation is that during election time these raids look good for our mayor. I do not buy this. I think there it is a case of Poker rooms flaunting their product and operating too openly. The coverage especially in the Dailey News(sic) is damaging and embaressing(sic) and because it is easy to find these clubs via chat rooms and the net the NYPD appears to be having little trouble getting judges to sign off on their warrants. The truth is these places are guilty of breaking the law they are promoting gambling.”

All encompassing “listings” site Craig’s List may have a little bit of a loose lips problem when it comes to the New York City poker clubs. Each time a club has been raided in the last month, there has been commentary about it.(Just type in “poker” into the search engine under New York and you’ll get the gist.)

However, it seems that inadvertently(or not) some posters are “outing” poker clubs on the board which is causing a stir among some NYC club regulars. Currently, one suspicous poster asks this question:

“HOW COME SEAN O’BRIANS PLACE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HASN’T BEEN RAIDED?”

This sparks a furious debate from various posters along the lines of “thanks a lot” and also reasons as to why the club hasn’t been closed(“because it sucks”). So, there you have it. For now, probably best to stay away from Sean O’Brian’s (if, uh, such a place were to actually exist) over the next few weeks. Thank Craig’s List for the heads up—or hate them for it. Either way, somebody’s gonna get beat up. Remember not to shoot the messenger.

Poker Night Need a Boost? How About a Gal Pal?

As if poker playing, fantasy sports-loving dudes needed any more assurances of their nerd-dom, one enterprising(or deranged) young lady has decided that a good majority of these men are in need of reacquainting themselves with female companionship.
