NFL Betting: McNabb’s Groin Moving the Line?

READ MORE: Donovan McNabb, Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Betting, Philadelphia Eagles

McNabb.jpgOh, these Philadelphia Eagles. Sigh. What tumult will befall us now? The latest is a the “sports hernia” industry taking hold of quarterback Donovan McNabb’s, er, abdomen that will require surgery at some point—but he is cleared to play as long as he can deal with the pain. Alas, what kind of outcome will this have on the Eagles the rest of the betting season? Will a pain-stricken McNabb keep the bettors away and hinder lines? Or will this end up being a catalyst for the rest of the Eagles season that catapults them to a Superbowl victory? Only the rest of the season will tell. But, bettors must remember McNabb’s four touchdown performance against the Arizona Cardinals three years ago as exhibit A. Dude had a broken ankle. That has to hurt worse than a silly “sports hernia”, or whatever this is. We think. This weekend the Eagles are 2 point favorites against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles also suuuuck against AFC teams ATS, so keep that in mind.

NFL Player Props: Enough With the Silly Madden Curse

READ MORE: Donovan McNabb, Madden '06, NFL Betting, Player Props

MADDEN.jpgSince Tuesday, many men between the ages of 18 and 40 have been locked in their homes playing game after game of Madden 2006, trying desperately to figure out the new passing functions and how to make Florida Governor Jeb Bush a better run blocker.

And with a new season of Madden, also comes new speculation about the “Madden Curse” which supposedly bodes not-so-good for the unfortunate NFL player on its front cover. Last year’s cover boy Ray Lewis managed to get through the year unscathed, however the same cannot be said for 2004 cover boy Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Michael Vick, St. Louis Rams’ running back Marshall Faulk in 2002 and the Tennessee Titans’ Eddie George in 2001—all of whom were injured during their Madden cover season. So Bodog is posting a futures line on Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Donovan McNabb and whether or not he’ll stay off of injured reserve this year. Odds are at -120 for Yes or No.
