BetUs Almost Snagged Baseball’s All-Time Greatest Gambler
READ MORE: BetUS.com", Gambling, Pete Rose
According to a story printed yesterday in the New York Post, former major league baseball player, all time hits leader, bowl-cut afficionado and degenerate gambler Pete Rose were close to signing a sponsorship deal with online bookmaker BetUS.com. They eventually signed former Minnesota governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura, however, Rose may have been another, more infamous, choice. The Post story stated even offered this earth-shattering exercise of logic from one of its unnamed sources:
“Pete and his agent were very much in support of this,” said one source, “but his legal team felt that if he endorsed an offshore sports book, it would put an end to any chance he has of getting into the Hall of Fame.” …
Ya think so, doctor? We’re just a little confused about Rose’s motivations and needed to do our own clarification on whether or not this story was accurate. So we asked BetUS.com spokesperson Alan Danzis for a comment on the story. He responded with the stock “Unfortunately, we can’t comment on negotiations (past, present or future).” Now, we’ve dabbled enough in journalism to know that a quote like this can only mean that it is absolutely, 100% true.
