Hot Weather Burns More Than Skin
READ MORE: Heat, Sports Betting
This insufferable weather is not only taking its toll on people over the age of 85—it’s also screwing with the bookies. Covers explores the phenomenon today as one of their handicappers tells us why:
There needs to be an adjustment all the way around. As the weather gets hotter not only does the ball carry better, but pitchers can begin to wear out. It is particularly time to look at guys that are overweight (Sidney Ponson, David Wells, etc.) and at some smaller guys that lack stamina (Cory Lidle particularly comes to mind with his recent struggles). These are guys that can have real problems around this time, as are older pitchers running out of gas, and younger ones that are working deep into the season for the first time in their careers.
To correct you do not put Boston Red Sox pitcher David Wells, Baltimore Orioles’ pitcher Sidney Ponson and anyone over the age of 85 outside right now.
